Members of Coast Guards in a drive arrested five suspected deer poachers along with 25 kg venison from a boat in the Shibsa River of the Sundarbans in Khulna district on Wednesday night. The arrestees were Imran Gazi, 24, Abdur Rahim, 43, Rokon-Uz-Zaman, 35, Abu Musa, 36 and Md Mamun, 35 of Koyra upazila in Khulna district. Coast Guard members conducted a drive in the river and arrested the poachers on Wednesday night, said a media release of Coast Guard. They also seized 25 kgs of venison, one boat, 80 deer poaching traps from their possession. Legal steps will be taken against them, it said.  

Forest Department officials have detained four suspected deer poachers with traps from Sundarbans in Koyra upazila of  Khulna. The detainees were--Kohinur Islam, 27, Aminul Rahman, 28, Ahsan Dulal, 26, and Helal Gazi, 25, of Jorshing village of the upazila. AZM Hasanur Rahman, Khulna Range Assistant Forest Conservator (ACF), said the four men were held from Murli Kuruli Khal area of Sundarbans around 7pm on Thursday. A case has been filed against the poachers in this regard, he said. They were also produced before the court of Koyra Upazila Senior Judicial Magistrate, the official added.

Forest Department officials detained three poachers along with deer traps, boat and other on Monday morning at Markirkhal area in Koyra upazila of Khulna district.   The detainees are Mizanur Rahman, 45, Moidul Sarder, 42 and Rahim Gazi 35, residents of Fakirabad Village in Paikgachha Upazila of the district. The detainees were produced before the court of Koyra Upazila Senior Judicial Magistrate. A case was filed in this connection.

Nineteen deer skins were seized from two members of a wildlife poaching-smuggling gang in Bagerhat’s Sarankhola on Saturday.

Forest Department officials on Sunday night detained three suspected members of a deer poaching gang from Choraputia area in Mongla upazila of Bagerhat district under Chandpai range of Sundarbans East Department.

Forest Department officials detained 60 suspected deer poachers while entering the Sundarbans with hunting equipment in three trawlers in Joymoni area of Chandpai Range early Tuesday.
