A day labourer died from electrocution when shifting furniture of a flat in the city’s Khilgaon Taltola area on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Md Ishak Hawlader, 60, son of Mofiz Hawlader, 32 of Billo village under Gouranodi police station in Barisal. He had been residing at Taltola bazar area. Sub-Inspector (SI) Nur E Alam of Khilgaon police station said Ishak got electrocuted around 12:30 pm when he touched an electric wire while shifting furniture from the flat. Co-workers took Ishak Hawler to Mughda Medical College Hospital and then to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared him dead around 4:00 pm. The body was at the hospital morgue for autopsy.

A construction worker died after falling off the eighth floor of an under-construction building in the city’s Mohammadpur area on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Md Zihad, 25. Md Abu Shakil, a co-worker of the deceased, said Zihad fell down from the 8th floor of the under-construction building at noon.  Also Read: Worker dies falling off building in Jhenaidah Later, he was rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared him dead, said inspector Bacchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost. The body was kept at the hospital morgue for an autopsy, he added.    

A worker was killed and four others  were injuries as a wall collapsed on them on Saturday at Chotobangram Bimanchattar area in Rajshahi city. The deceased was identified as Riazul. Injured Enamul Haque,35, Dilip,43,Kazem Ali,27, and Monjurul Alam, 35, were rescued from under the debris and admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH). A  wall collapsed as the workers were working to install a Reinforced Concrete Column(RCC), said Rajib, one of the workers. We don’t know what happened to  four others.” Emran Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Chandrima police station said the five workers were rescued from the site of an under-construction house of one Entaj Ali. As they were taken to RMCH doctors announced Riazul dead. A 30-year-old worker was killed in a gas cylinder explosion at a steel factory in Bashbaria area of Sitakunda upazila in Chattogram Thursday noon. The deceased was identified as Ranjit Das, son of Shridam Das of Kumira Ghatghar area of the upazila. Police said the gas cylinder went off when Ranjit was cutting scrap iron inside the rod factory of GPH Steel Ltd around 12pm, leaving Ranjit dead on spot. The body was sent to Chattogram Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) morgue, said Ashraful Karim, assistant superintendent of Police (ASP) of Sitakunda circle.

A woman worker was killed and three people were injured as a portion of an under-construction garment storeroom collapsed at Cumilla Export Processing Zone (EPZ) on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Josna Begum, 45, hailing from Pukur Par area in South Chartha of Cumilla. A board of the storeroom in  the garment factory fell on Josna in the morning, leaving four workers injured. Injured Josna was rushed to Comilla Medical College Hospital where doctors declared her dead. Adequate compensation will be provided to the victim’s family, he added.

A worker of Jamjam Feed Mills died on Friday after his fellow worker pumped air through his rectum at Dewantuli in Mahiganj of Rangpur.

A construction worker was died after falling from the 10th floor of an under-construction building in Kawran Bazar area of the city on Wednesday.

A worker died on Tuesday morning after he fell from the top of an under-construction electric tower in Harikhali village of Nalchity upazila in the district.
