The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) today announced the squad for the upcoming ICC Men's T20 World Cup, taking place next month in the USA and West Indies. Taskin Ahmed was uncertain due to a muscle injury, but he was eventually added to the squad as the vice-captain.  Mohammad Saifuddin, who played in the last home series against Zimbabwe, but he is overlooked for the World Cup. All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and batsman Soumya Sarkar return to the T20I squad as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced the team for the final two matches of the five-match series against Zimbabwe. Shakib, who missed the first three matches due to Dhaka League commitments, rejoins the squad alongside Mustafizur Rahman, who returned from the IPL on May 2. Soumya Sarkar also makes a comeback after recovering from a knee injury. The 5-match T20I series between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe will kick off on 3rd May at Chattogram. This will be the last series before Bangladesh’s tour to the USA for a T20I series. Tigers lost their last T20I series against Sri Lanka this March after remaining unbeaten for four series at home. Therefore, they would look toward this series to gather the lost momentum ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. Prospect of Bangladesh in the 2023 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Ahead of the tournament, Bangladesh has had two warm-up fixtures against Ireland. In the first match, Jahanara Alam shined with four wickets, and the team secured a five-wicket triumph. Unfortunately, the second match resulted in an eight-wicket defeat for Bangladesh. To further prepare for the tournament, Bangladesh had two more practice games against Pakistan on February 6 and India on February 8. Pakistan Women’s team won by 6 wickets in the first warm up match. Bangladesh also lost to India. Team India won the warm up match by 52 runs.  Hence, these matches may resemble Bangladesh’s preparation. And any match with the big team may give a hard time to the Bangladesh team. Bangladesh will play against Sri Lanka, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. Since these teams are stronger, Bangladesh may face difficulties in winning over them. Nasum Ahmed, the talented left-arm spinner, has been selected for the Bangladesh Test squad for the upcoming second and final Test of their series against India starting on December 22nd in Dhaka. Nasmum’s call-up to the Test squad is a major milestone in his cricketing career, and he will no doubt be eager to make an impactful debut. Nasum has represented Bangladesh in both ODI and T20I matches. He has played 83 T20 matches, 61 List A matches, 4 ODIs and 28 T20Is so far. He has taken 105 wickets in First-class cricket at an average of 30.25, 32 wickets in T20I cricket at 20.03, 5 wickets in ODI cricket at 25.60, 80 wickets in List A cricket at 27.28 and 71 wickets in T20 cricket at 25.23. His best bowling figures are 7/43 in First-class cricket, 4/10 in T20I, and 5/49 in List-A cricket. Nasum Ahmed has been called up as a substitute for Shakib Al Hasan in the next Test match as Shakib will likely be limited to batting only due to an injury he sustained from a bouncer bowled by Umran Malik in the ODI series. To save the match, Bangladesh needed to bat the entire fifth day, but they failed to do that. Left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam has been included in the Bangladesh squad for the second Test against the hosts West Indies, the Bangladesh Cricket Board said Monday. Shoriful was not a part of the Test side due to an injury. As the pacer is doing well now, the selectors added him to the team. He has played four Tests and bagged six wickets. Shoriful's best bowling figure is 69/3. In the first Test of the series, Bangladesh suffered a seven-wicket defeat after a poor batting display in both innings.  New Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan hit 50s in each innings, and Nurul Hasan Sohan scored one in the second innings. Most of the other batsmen were too culpable in their dismissals. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced a 20-member squad for the second of the two-match Test series against Pakistan which is set to begin on December 4 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. Ace allrounder Shakib Al Hasan and right-arm pacer Taskin Ahmed have made a return to Tests after recovering from leg and hand injuries. BCB called left-handed batter Mohammad Naim to Tests for the first time. He played a total of six First-class matches and scored 183 runs at an average of 16.63 with only a fifty.
