Covid-19: Bangladesh reports 26 cases, zero death
Bangladesh registered 26 new Covid cases in 24 hours till Tuesday taking the country's total caseload to 1,953,507, health authorities said.
The country's total fatalities remained unchanged at 29,131 as no death was reported during the period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The country on Monday saw one Covid-linked death with 34 cases.
The daily test positivity rate slightly dropped to 0.61 percent from Tuesday's 0.63 percent as 4,198 samples were tested, according to the DGHS.
The mortality rate remained unchanged at 1.49 percent.
The recovery rate rose to 97.40 percent as 169 patients recovered during this period.
In April, the country reported only five Covid-linked deaths and 1,114 new cases, while 14,100 patients recovered from the disease, according to the DGHS.
Among the five deaths during the period, two were unvaccinated patients while three were vaccinated with two doses of the Covid vaccine.

The country reported its first zero Covid death in a single day on November 20 last year, along with 178 cases, since the pandemic broke out here in March 2020.
On January 28, Bangladesh logged its previous highest positivity rate of 33.37 per cent.The country registered its highest daily caseload of 16,230 on July 28 last year and daily fatalities of 264 on August 10 in the same year.

Covid-19: Bangladesh reports 6 more deaths with 197 fresh cases
Bangladesh logged six more Covid-linked deaths along with 197 fresh cases in 24 hours till Sunday morning.
With the latest cases, the daily-case positivity rate declined to 1.03 per cent from Saturday’s 1.07 per cent, said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

With the fresh numbers, the total fatalities rose to 28,001 while the caseload mounted to 15,77,443.
Among the latest deceased, three each were men and women. Five deaths were reported from Dhaka division while one each was from Mymensingh division.
However, the mortality rate increased to 1.78 per cent during the period.
The fresh cases were detected after testing 19,123 samples, amid the growing concern over the new ‘Omicron’ variant of coronavirus.
Besides, the recovery rate remained unchanged at 97.77 per cent with the recovery of 226 more patients during the 24-hour period.
On November 20, Bangladesh logged this year’s first zero Covid-linked death with 178 cases.
Bangladesh reported the highest number of daily fatalities of 264 on August 5 this year, while the highest daily caseload was 16,230 on July 28 this year.
So far, 37,829,420 people have fully been vaccinated in the country while 64,414,430 received the first dose as of Thursday, according to the DGHS.
Among them, 86,637 students, aged from 12-17, have fully been vaccinated while 899,510 students received the first dose so far.

No new lockdown
Health Minister Zahid Maleque on Sunday ruled out any further Covid-induced lockdown in the country.
“The covid situation in Bangladesh is under control now and there’s no possibility to enforce any lockdown in the country,” he told reporters after visiting the under-construction Bangladesh Institute of Health Management Building (BIHM) in Savar.
Zahid said there is no need to worry about the new coronavirus variant, Omicron, which has no presence in the country.
He said Bangladesh now has enough stock of vaccines and preparation to face any situation.

Global Covid cases top 182.5 million
The global Covid-19 caseload has now surged past 182.5 million, with the world still struggling to contain the second outbreak of the virus.
The total caseload and fatalities stand at 182,566,186 and 3,953,911, respectively, as of Friday morning, according to Johns Hopkins University (JHU).
So far, 3,086,275,851 vaccine doses have been administered across the globe.
The US, which is the world's worst-hit country in terms of both cases and deaths, has so far logged 33,678,270 cases, according to the JHU data.

Besides, 605,012 people have lost their lives in the US to date.
India, the second-most affected country after the US, passed another distressing mark of 400,271 deaths, with 796 more people succumbing to the virus till Thursday morning.
India's Covid-19 case tally rose to 30,453,937 on Thursday, after 43,360 new infections were recorded in the past 24 hours, according to the federal health ministry.
Brazil registered 1,953 more deaths from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the national death toll to 520,189, the health ministry said Thursday.
A total of 63,140 new infections were detected during the period, raising the total caseload to 18,622,304, the ministry said.

Situation in Bangladesh
With the Delta variant of Covid-19 playing havoc, Bangladesh on Thursday reported the highest-ever 143 deaths in 24 hours.
This is the highest single-day deaths in Bangladesh since the detection of its first Covid cases here on March 8, last year.
The country also recorded 8,301 more cases during the period.
The positivity rate rose to 25.90% during the period from Wednesday’s 25.13% after the test of 32,055 samples, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
With the new numbers, the country's death toll mounted to 14,646 while the caseload stood at 921,559.
Barely four days back, on June 27, Bangladesh saw a record 119 Covid deaths. The highest-ever 8,822 cases were also reported on Wednesday.

The country saw 2,404 Covid deaths in April, 1,169 in May and 1,884 in June, marking the most fatal months of this year.
Also, July was the most fatal month of 2020 with 1,264 deaths followed by 1,197 deaths in June that year.

Covid-19: India’s caseload rises to 4.75 mln
