Maritime ports of Bangladesh have been advised to hoist distant cautionary signal no. one as the deep depression over Westcentral Bay and adjoining area moved slightly north-northeastwards and now lies over the same area.
At 6 am on Monday, it was centred about 840 kms West-Southwest of Chattogram port, 800 kms West-Southwest of Cox’s Bazar port, 710 kms southwest of Mongla and Payra ports, respectively, said a special Met office bulletin this morning (October 23, 2023).

It is likely to move north-northeastwards and intensify further, added the bulletin.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 48 kms of the deep depression centre is about 50 kph rising to 60 kph in gusts or squalls.
Sea will remain rough near the deep depression centre.

Meanwhile, all fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay and deep sea have been advised to remain closed to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.
They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea, reads the special bulletin.

Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep local cautionary signal no. 3 hoisted as the monsoon depression over India’s West Bengal-Bihar and adjoining area moved west-northwestwards and now lies over north Chhattisgarh and adjoining area.
It is likely to move in a west-northwesterly direction further and weaken gradually into a well-marked low, said a special bulletin of the Met office on Thursday (August 03, 2023).

However, all fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay and the deep sea have been advised to proceed with caution till Sunday evening.
On Saturday, the deep depression over the northeast Bay and adjoining Bangladesh-West Bengal coast moved west-northwestwards and crossed West Bengal and adjoining North Odisha coast.
It was likely to move northwestwards further and weaken gradually, said Bangladesh Metrological Department.

The country’s maritime ports have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal three to alert vessels of a possible squall as deep convection is taking place over the North Bay, said the weather department on Wednesday.
Squally weather is likely to affect the maritime ports, the North Bay, and the adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh, said the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
"All fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay have been advised to come close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice," it added.

Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist distant cautionary signal No 1 as the well-marked low over southeast Bay and adjoining South Andaman Sea intensified into a depression over the same area.
It was centred at 06 am Sunday about 1380 kms south of Chattogram port, 1295 kms south of Cox’s Bazar port, 1440 kms south-southeast of Mongla port and 1375 kms south-southeast of Payra port, said a special bulletin of Met office.

It is likely to intensify further and move in a north/northeasterly direction.
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay and deep sea have been advised to come close to the coast and proceed with caution. They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.

The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra in Bangladesh have been advised to hoist at the mast local cautionary signage to alert vessels of a possible squall.
The weather office's advisory for cautionary signal number three -- which means that a depression has formed and may affect the port later -- comes in the wake of the well-marked low over the southwestern part of Bangladesh and adjoining areas lying over the western part of Bangladesh and the adjoining Indian state of West Bengal.

“Under its influence, deep convection is taking place and a steep pressure gradient lies over the North Bay and adjoining areas,” said a Met office bulletin.

"All boats and trawlers in the North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice."
According to the daily weather bulletin, light to moderate rainfall or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind may occur at most places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions.

Similarly, many places over Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions may experience moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall, as per the bulletin.

The Bay depression is likely to move Northwestwards. The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajsthan, Hariyana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal, the centre of the well-marked low to Assam.
One of its associated troughs extends up to North Bay.
