30 hurt over football match at JU
At least 30 students of Jahangirnagar University were injured in a clash over a football match on the campus on Tuesday.
Some of the injured were identified as Arpon, Rony, Munna, Mukto, Shahin, Asif, Sarwar,Hasib, Sajib, Ifaz and Rassul.
Five out of the injured were admitted to Enam Medical College Hospital.
Witnesses said that the students of Mawlana Bhasani and AFM Kamal Uddin halls locked into a clash over a controversial goal during the football match of ‘Chancellor Cup’ on the campus.
All the injured except the critical ones received first aid from the university’ medical center.

Prof Abdullahel Kafi, president of the provost committee, said they would take necessary measures upon identifying the reason behind the attack after holding meetings with all groups.
Prof Dr Nurul Alam, vice chancellor of the university, said the university administration will bear all expenses for treatment for the students and take action.
Akhtaruzzaman, president of the university unit BCL, said his organisation will not take responsibility for the clash as it had no involvement with the incident.

Lightning injures 19 spectators at football match in Manikganj
At least 19 spectators sustained injuries in a lightning strike when they were enjoying a football match at Jagir area in Sadar upazila of Manikganj on Friday afternoon.
The injured were identified as Abul Latif, 60, Ismail, 15, Alamgir, 55, Arif, 29, Wasim, 20, Azizul Hakim, 35, Mokles, 62, Razzak, 50, Shamim, 35, Fahim, 17, Jahidul, 40, Sajeeb, 20, Rajib, 20, Faruk, 30, Shibu Miah, 20, Biplob Hossain, 20, Rauiz Uddin, 18, Lutfur Rahman, , 35, and Badsha Miah, 50. All the victims were residents of Sadar, Saturia and Singair upazilas.
Of the injured, 18 people have been undergoing treatment at Manikganj Sadar Hospital where the physical condition of Jahidul, Mokles and Razzak were stated to be critical.
Eyewitnesses and victims said several hundred people from different areas of the district gathered to enjoy a football match at the field of Jagir Union Parishad in Jagir area nearby Dhaka-Aricha highway in the afternoon.

The spectators sustained injuries when lightning struck them triggering a huge panic, they said.
The injured were rushed to the sadar hospital where 18 of them were hospitalised, said Dr Shamima Akter, posted at the emergency department of the hospital.
Among the injured, three sustained severe burn injuries in the accident, she added.

Youth killed over football match in Jashore
A speech-impaired youth was killed in over a football match in Jhikargachha upazila of Jashore on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Nayan Hossain, 24, son of Shahidul Islam of Taura village in Jhikargachha upazila.

Police and witnesses said a football match was held at a local playground on Saturday afternoon.
There was a dispute between the two teams over scoring a goal in the game.
At one stage, 12/15 people led by Sarwar,a member of Ward No 6 of Panisara UP, beat up and stabbed the players of the opponent team, leaving four people injured.
Later, locals rescued them and admitted them to Jhikargachha Upazila Health Complex. Nayan and Zahurul were transferred to Jashore General Hospital where doctors declared Nayan dead.

Abdur Razzak, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jhikargachha Police Station said police have not yet arrested anyone involved in the incident.
The body has been sent to Jashore General Hospital Morgue for an autopsy, the OC added.
