Chhatra League lifts suspension of Eden College committee
The Bangladesh Chhatra League has lifted its suspension of the Eden College committee.
The organisation announced this in a notice signed by its central committee President Al Nahiyan Khan Joy and General Secretary Lekhak Bhattacharjee Wednesday.
Following fights between two factions of the organisation, the ruling party's student wing halted the activities of its Eden College committee on September 26.
Chhatra League also expelled 16 leaders and activists, including its college unit general secretary from the organisation for breaking the rules.
The organisation formed a probe body, too, to investigate the incident that left several injured on the campus.

Eden College: Probe finds no evidence of forcing students into immoral activities
The probe body formed to look into the recent clashes and various allegations on the Eden College campus did not find any evidence of forcing any students into indulging in ‘any immoral’ activities.
The four-member committee has already submitted a report, signed by Eden College principal professor Supriya Bhattacharjee, a press release said on Thursday.
“The report found no evidence of any student being forced into immoral activities,” it reads.
It, however, said the college authorities will take proper steps based on the probe report against recent clashes, alleged anomalies in seat distribution in exchange of money and other charges.

Supriya Bhattacharjee told UNB that they will submit the probe to the next academic council meeting, and final decisions will be taken there.
Earlier on September 25, the four-member inquiry committee was formed comprising of four senior teachers of Eden Mohila College--Prof Mohammad Ziaul Houqe, Prof Kazi Atikuzzaman, Prof Sufiya Akter and Prof Meherunnisa Meri--to investigate clashes on September 24 and 25 on the college campus and some other allegations.
During the clashes, some leaders accused Eden Mohila College Chhatra League top leaders of repressing and harassing general students in many ways and indulging in various crimes like extortion and forcing students into immoral acts.
On September 25, Bangladesh Chhatra League suspended all activities of its Eden Mohila College unit committee following infightings between its two groups which left at least eight people injured.
BCL also expelled 16 leaders and activists from the organisation for violating the rules.

Earlier, on 22 September, BCL leader Jannatul Ferdous gave an interview to the media alleging various irregularities, extortion, illegal seat trading and hall occupation by the BCL president and general secretary.

Second round BCL infighting at Eden College: 8 injured
Eden College has been rocked by another round of clashes between followers of the college's Chhatra League unit president Tamanna Jasmine Riva and a group of rival BCL leaders leaving at least 12-15 people including Riva injured.The two groups locked into clashes at the college on Sunday evening when the BCL president and general secretary organised a press conference regarding allegations that their rival group aired earlier in the day.Riva and Razia Sultana, the general secretary, have been allegedly involved in some illegal activities including seat trading, extortion, student torture and taking control of hostels and the canteen. They even started extortion from footway shops.
Despite many allegations against Riva and Razia that arose since they were declared president and general secretary, the college administration and Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) did not take any action against them yet.Moreover, 25 leaders out of 44 have declared them unwanted and also threatened to resign if organisational action is not taken against them over several allegations including trading of student residence seats, extortion, and torture.

BCL infighting at Eden College: Vice-president hurt
Jannatul Ferdous, vice-president of Eden Mohila College unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League(BCL), has been injured in an attack allegedly by the followers of its president and general secretary.
Eden College Chhatra League President Tamanna Jasmine Riva and General Secretary Razia Sultana beat up Jannatul Ferdous at Begum Razia dormitory of the college for giving an interview to the media about extortion and seat trading in the college, said students.
A tense situation has been prevailing on the campus over the incident and protest rallies and counter rallies were held after the incident.

On September 22, Jannatul Ferdous gave an interview to the media alleging various irregularities, extortion, seat trading and hall occupation by BCL president and general secretary.
Two days after the interview, the followers BCL president and general secretary threatened to remove her from the hall around 11 pm on Saturday .
Contacted, Jannatul Ferdous said, "I was outside the hall. Razia's followers entered my room to create trouble. Later, my roommates called me and I returned to hall and talked to some girls. As soon as I came to the hall, followers of Razia beat me up and snatched my phone."
Tamanna Jesmin Riva and Razjia Sultana didn’t respond to the call of the UNB correspondent.
However, BCL has formed a two-member probe committee to investigate the incident.

Eden College: BCL president threatens to drive out some students
An audio of Eden College unit Chhatra League President Tamanna Jasmine Riva has been leaked where she threatened to drive out several students from the hostel room of the college.The audio clip spread on social media on Friday night where BCL leader Tamanna was heard threatening other students.In the audio clip, Tamanna was heard saying, there is no one above the president of this college. So listen to what I say. Otherwise, you will be punished. During that time, she used some slang words with them.Some students said Tamanna came to their room and threatened them to drive out of the hostel because they had not joined the Chhatra League programme.One of the students said, " We did not talk against her (Riva) fearing troubles. But now we raised our voices against her and brought the matter to the attention of the madams.”When contacted, the BCL leader said, "It is not a big deal. They misbehaved with some of my juniors when they went to their room.Later, I went to their room to settle the issue and used some slang words."

They are nothing but my family members. Though it was in a very personal environment, I admit that it was my fault to use unchecked language from my responsible position. Therefore, I beg for an apology from the organisation.”Eden College principal Supriya Bhattacharjee said the hall authorities will look after the matter and action will be taken by considering the situation.When asked about the recording, Razia Hall principal Nargis Ruma declined any comment over the incident.

BCL attacks Samajtantrik Chhatra Front at Eden College
BCL activists of Eden College have allegedly attacked Samajtantrik Chhatra Front activists during a human chain rally in front of the College around 1.30 pm on Monday.
Eden College unit president of Samajtantrik Chhatra Front Saima Afroze, and general secretary Shahinur Shumi along with some other activists were injured in the attack.
Demanding proper justice for the incident, Injured Shahinur Shumi said about ten minutes after submitting their memorandum to the principal they were attacked.
"They abused us, tore our banner, and tried to snatch the phone of our president (Saima Afroze) to delete the videos. We have been organizing different programs since last month demanding to start bus services on eight routes and to improve the quality of the canteen food. As a part of that ongoing program they submitted a memorandum to the principal asking to implement their claims," she replied when asked about their program.

"When we reached our tent at 'Koroitola' after completing their activities, some BCL activists of Eden College under the leadership of Eden College Chhatra League president Jesmin Riva and general secretary Razia Sultana attacked us," she said.
Samajtantrik Chhatra Front also alleged that BCL activists attacked them when they were collecting donation money for the flood-hit people of Sylhet.
Asked about the allegation, BCL president of Eden College Chhatra League Tamanna Jesmin Riva said, "As far as I know nothing such happened in the campus. There is college administration and everything have to go through a systematic process but they didn't follow it."
"There are around 40000 students in this College, if you want to collect money from the students you have to take permission from the administration but idid hey maintain it?” she added.
Condemning the attack, Samajtantrik Chhatra Front central panel formed a human chain in front of anti terrorist Raju monument sculpture of University of Dhaka at 3.30 pm in the afternoon.
