“We want Justice, why did our brother die?”
Students of Government Science School and College today (September 12, 2022) blocked roads in Dhaka’s Farmgate area, demanding safe roads and protesting the death of a fellow student in a road accident in Tejgaon area yesterday.
A number of students of the school took to the street around 11:50 am, in front of the Farmgate Police Box, demanding road safety, according to the UNB photographer.

SSC examinee death: 300 booked for torching 8 buses in city
A police case has been filed against 250-300 unidentified people in connection with the recent torching of buses in the city's Rampura Bazaar area over the tragic death of an SSC examinee in an accident.
Sub-inspector AKM Niazuddin Mollah of the Hatirjheel police station, filed a complaint, based on which an FIR (which marks the beginning of a criminal probe) under the Explosive Substances Act was lodged on Wednesday.
The case has been filed against the accused for vandalising and torching vehicles, beating up some pedestrians, and creating panic among local people, as per the FIR.

On Monday, Mainuddin Islam Durjoy, an SSC examinee, was run over by a bus around 10.45 pm in the Rampura Bazaar area near Better Life Hospital.
Mainuddin’s death triggered violence, leading to the torching of as many as eight buses by an angry mob.

Student protest causes traffic disruption in Barishal
Traffic movement on BM College Road in Barishal city was disrupted for two hours on Wednesday morning as students of Braj Mohan College blocked the road.
They put barricades on the road in protest against imposition of extra session and registration fees for the Honours 2nd year examinees of the college.

Around 250 students of the college took to the streets in front of its Academic building around 10:30 am, halting traffic on the road.
The college remained shut for two years due to Covid pandemic.
The students threatened to continue their movement if the authorities concerned do not revise their decision.

The traffic on the road returned to normalcy around 12:30 pm after the authorities concerned assured them of meeting their demand.
Contacted, Golam Kibria, principal of the College, said, “They’ll take steps soon to resolve the problem in consultation with the students and the higher authorities concerned.”
