BGB detains 2 people with 20 gold bars in Satkhira
Members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained two persons with 20 gold bars weighing 3.830 kilograms from Lokkhidari and Bashkol areas of Satkhira's Bhomra border on Thursday.
They were allegedly attempting to smuggle the gold bars from Bangladesh to India, said a press release.

In Lokkhidari, a team of 33-BGB Battalion conducted a drive in the area on Thursday afternoon and apprehended a man and recovered 2.420 kilograms of gold from his possession.
The current market value of the seized gold bars is over Tk 2.13 crore.
Two detained with 31 gold bars in Satkhira: BGB
In another incident, the law enforcers detained Ashraful Islam , 24, with 10 gold bars weighing 1.410 kilograms from the Bashkol area this morning.
The market value of the seized gold bars is more than Tk 1.24 crore.
BGB seizes six gold bars worth Tk58 lakh near Satkhira border
The detainees were handed over to Satkhira Sadar police station and the process is underway to hand over the seized gold bars to the Satkhira Treasury Office, said the press release.

Man held with 15 gold bars in Rangpur
Members of Narcotics Control Department arrested a man and seized 15 gold bars from his possession at Kamarpara in Rangpur city on Wednesday.
The arrestee was identified as Foysal, son of Abul Hossain of Munshiganj district.
Acting on a tip off, that a consignment of gold was being smuggled to Rangpur from Dhaka, a team of Narcotics Control Department, intercepted a bus and arrested the man, said Aslam Ali Mandal, inspector of Narcotics Control Department, Rangpur.

Later, they seized 15 gold bars from the belt of the young man.
The market value of the seized gold bars, weighing 150 tola, is Tk 1.27 crore.

3 held with gold bars worth Tk 1.74cr in Benapole
Customs intelligence officials detained three people and seized 20 gold bars from their possession at Benapole Check-post in Jashore district on Monday.
The arrestees were identified as Md Habib, 37, son of Mosharraf Hossain of Nagarkanda village in Faridpur district, Mahiuddin, 36, son of Shahid Molla and Rony Ahmed, 44, son of Amzad Molla of Gopalganj district.
Acting on a tip-off that a huge consignment of gold is being smuggled to India, a team of customs officials intercepted three passengers while crossing the immigration point around 8 am, said deputy director of Benapole Custom Intelligence Sayekh Arefin Zahedi.
After interrogation, all of them confessed about possessing gold in their rectums.
Later, the customs intelligence officials seized gold bars.
The market value of the seized gold bars is Tk 1.74 crore.

Man held with 23 gold bars at Ctg airport
Customs officials detained a man along with 23 gold bars, weighing 2.7 kg, from Chattogram’s Shah Amanat International Airport today, officials said.
The arrestee was identified as Mohammad Ziauddin, from Hathazari upazila of Chattogram district.
Deputy Director of Chattogram Customs, Saifur Rahman, said a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines (BG-148) from Dubai landed at the airport in the morning.

During scanning, the customs officials suspected the existence of metal objects inside the body of the passenger and challenged him.
Later, they seized the gold bars from him.
Customs officials are scanning his body, suspecting that the passenger might be carrying more gold.

2 held with gold bars worth Tk6.52 crore in Benapole
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Wednesday said they detained two people with 70 gold bars worth Tk6.52 crore from the Kaira border area in Benapole.
The detainees are Md Shafiqul Islam, 29, of Benapole and Md Hannan, 34, of Chandpur.

Tipped off, a team of BGB-21 intercepted a car while it was trying to cross the border in the Panch Kaira Ambagan area this evening, Lieutenant Colonel Tanvir Rahman, commanding officer of BGB-21, said.
Later, the BGB men seized the gold bars from the car and detained the duo, he said. "Legal actions will be taken against the detainees."

2 held with 20 gold bars in Chattogram’s Sitakunda
Police arrested two people and seized 20 gold bars from Sitakunda in Chattogram district on Wednesday.
The arrestees were identified as Basu Pal, 35, son of Sunil Pal of Anwara upazila, and Ratan Pal, 60, son of Shashank Pal of Bashkhali upazila.
Tofayel Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Sitakunda Police Station, said suspecting the movement of two people, police challenged them in front of Shyamoli Paribahan bus counter in the morning.
Later, police recovered 20 gold bars, weighing 2332.11 grams, from their shoes.
After interrogation, police came to know that they were waiting for a bus to go to Dhaka to sell the gold bars.

Gold worth over Tk 8.5cr seized in Chuadanga, Jhenaidah; one detained
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members seized 91 gold bars weighing 11.73 kg from Chuadanga and Jhenaidah districts on Tuesday.
Tipped off, a team of BGB conducted a drive in Darshana Thana in Jhenaidah on Tuesday and detained a man while he was taking six gold bars to Jibannagar upazila, said Mohammad Saiful Islam, assistant director of BGB-58 battalion.

The detainee is Abdus Shukur,35, son of Tabir Rahman of Nutanpara village of Chuadanga's Jibannagar upazila.
Later, the gold bars worth around Tk 51 lakh were recovered from his possesion, the officer said.
A case will be filed against the detainee, he said adding that the gold bars will be handed over to Darshana police.
In Jhenaidah, a special patrol team of Jadavpur BOP under Maheshpur Battalion conducted an operation in Gopalpur village in Maheshpur upazila.

During the drive, 85 gold bars weighing 11.390 kg were recovered by digging soil in a banana orchard.
The seized gold worth over Tk 8 crore will be deposited at the Jhenaidah Treasury Office after filing a case at Maheshpur Police Station, said Saiful Islam.

80 gold bars seized from Jashore border
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have seized 80 gold bars weighing 9.28 kg from Kashipur-Shahzadpur border in Chougachha upazila of Jashore.
Tipped off, a team of BGB conducted a drive near the border on Saturday evening noticing suspicious movement of two Bangladeshi farmers, said Lt Col Shahed Minhaj Siddiqui, commanding officer of BGB-49 battalion.

The farmers fled the scene when BGB men challenged them.The law enforcers later noticed two more farmers’ roaming near the border at that time.
Later, they found 80 gold bars worth Tk 8.32 crore in four large bundles wrapped with adhesive tape in a pepper field there, said the Commander.
The seized gold bars will be deposited in the government treasury through necessary legal action.

Gold bars worth Tk22 crore seized at Benapole: BGB
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have claimed to have detained two men and seized gold bars worth nearly Tk22.45 crore from the border areas in Benapole in the last two days.
BGB detained Omar Faruk, 27, and Farhad Hossain, 32, of Chandpur district with 112 gold bars worth Tk15.65 crore, weighing 16.5kg, from the Amrakhali border area in Benapole Wednesday, Lieutenant Colonel Minhaj Ahmed Siddique, commanding officer of BGB 21, said.
Meanwhile, another BGB team seized 82 gold bars worth Tk6.80 crore, weighing 9.5kg, from Benapole's Panchbhulot border area Thursday.
"The smuggler, identified as Mohammad Mehdi (25) of Jashore's Benapole, fled the area after being chased by a BGB team, leaving his motorcycle and a bag with the gold behind," said Lieutenant Colonel Tanveer Ahmed, commanding officer of BGB 21 Battalion.
Legal actions will be taken against those involved in the gold smuggling, the commanding officers said.

56 gold bars seized at Chattogram airport
Customs officials on Saturday seized 56 gold bars weighing 6.5 kg from an aircraft of Biman Bangladesh Airlines at Chattogram Shah Amanat Airport.
Taslim Ahmed, manager of Chattogram airport, said a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines ‘BG-148’ landed at the airport from Dubai in the afternoon.
Tipped off, a team of customs officials found the gold bars, wrapped in black scotch tape, from under a seat in an abandoned condition, said joint director of Chattogram Regional Custom Intelligence and Investigation Department Saifur Rahman.

However, no one was arrested in connection with the recovery of the gold bars worth Tk 4.48 crore.
A case has been filed with Patenga Police Station in this regard.
