‘Drug trader’ held with 30,000 Yaba pills
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members detained a suspected drug trader along with 30,000 Yaba pills from Baroitoli area in Teknaf upazila on Monday night.
The arrestee is Sirajul Islam, 25, son of Mohammad Shah of Baroitoli village in the upazila.

Tipped-off, a special patrol team of BGB-2 conducted a drive at Sirajul's house and detained him along with the Yaba pills, said Lieutenant Colonel Sheikh Khalid Mohammad Iftekhar, commanding officer of BGB-2 Battalion.
During the drive, two mobile handsets and Tk 5,000 were recovered from the possession of the arrestee.

Sirajul was handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station, he added.

Drug trader sentenced to death in Gaibandha
A Gaibandha court on Sunday sentenced a man to death for selling drugs in 2019. The convict was Zahirul Islam, of Gobindaganj upazila of the district.

‘Drug trader’ killed in Pabna ‘gunfight’
A suspected drug trader was killed in a reported gunfight with police at Par Karamja in Satthia upazila early Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Sobhan, 40, son of Abdur Rashid of Karamja Sardarpara village.
Tipped off, a team of police conducted a drive in the area around 2:30 pm, said Sheikh Rafiqul Islam, superintendent of Pabna Police.
Sensing the presence of police, the criminals opened fire on the law enforcers, forcing them to fire back in self-defense.
Sobhan was caught in the line of fire and sustained bullet injury while the others managed to flee the scene.
Later, he was taken to Bera Upazila Health Complex where the doctors declared him dead.
Two policemen were injured during the gunfight.
Sobhan was wanted in eleven criminal cases, said police.
One shutter gun, one cartridge, one sharp weapon, two mobile phone sets and a small amount of hemp and heroin were recovered from the possession of Sobhan, he said.

‘Drug trader’ killed in Jashore ‘gunfight’
A suspected drug trader was killed in a reported gunfight with members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in Rajganj area of Manirampur upazila early Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Rubel Hosne Shawn, 22, son of Bachchu Hawladar.
Sub-inspector Debasish Biswash of Manirampur Police Station said tipped off, members of Rab -6 conducted a drive in Rajganj area.
Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the drug traders opened fire on them, forcing them to fire back in self-defence, triggering the gunfight.
After the gunfight other drug traders managed to flee leaving Shawon bullet- wounded on the spot, the SI said.
The injured were taken to Manirampur Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead, he added.
Rab seized a foreign pistol, one round of bullet and 63 bottles of Phensedyl cough syrup from the spot.
Three cases were filed against the deceased with Manirampur Police Station.

‘Drug trader’ killed in city ‘gunfight’
A suspected drug trader was killed in a reported gunfight with members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab ) at TNT Bottola in the city’s Banani area early Friday.
The deceased was identified as Jalil, 45, a listed drug trader.
Tipped off, a team of Rab-1 conducted a drive in the area where a group of drug traders gathered around 12:30 am, said Senior ASP Md Kamruzzaman of the Rab-1.
Sensing presence of the elite force members, the criminals opened fire on them triggering a gunfight.
After a brief gunfight, Rab members recovered the body of Jalil from the spot.
Two foreign made pistols, some bullets and 500 yaba pills were also recovered from the spot, ASP Kamruzzaman said.
A Rab member was also injured in the gunfight.

A suspected drug trader was killed in a reported gunfight with members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Sarkhola village in Abhaynagar upazila on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Maruf Mollah, 26, son of Moslem Mollah of Nauapara municiplaity area.
Tipped off that some drug traders were sharing phensidyl bottles for selling in the area, a team of Rab-6 conducted a drive in the area, said commanding officer of Rab-6, Lieutenant Colonel Rawshan Kabir.
Sensing presence of the elite force members, the criminals opened fire on the Rab men, forcing them to fire back that triggered a gunfight.
At one stage, Maruf Molla was caught in the line of fire and sustained bullet injuries.
Later, he was taken to local hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Two Rab members were also injured in the incident.
One pistol, one hundred bottles of phensidyl were recovered from the spot.

‘Drug trader’ killed in Cox’s Bazar ‘gunfight’
A suspected Rohingya drug trader was killed in a reported gunfight with members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) at Palongkhali in Ukhiya upazila early Thursday.
The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Tipped off, a team of BGB conducted a drive at Rahmetorbill border area around 4 am, said Lieutenant Colonel Ali Haider Azad Ahmed, Commanding officer of BGB-34, Cox’s Bazar.
Sensing presence of the border guards, the criminals opened fire on BGB men, forcing them to fire back in self-defence that triggered a gunfight.
Later the BGB men recovered the body of the drug trader from the spot.
30,000 Yaba pills, one firearm and two bullets were recovered from the spot.

‘Drug trader’ killed in Gazipur ‘gunfight’
A suspected drug trader was killed in an alleged gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members in Pubail Satkoya early Monday.
The deceased was identified as Robiul Islam Robu, son of Manik Miah, a resident of Tongi.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Kamruzzaman of Rab-1 said a team of Rab conducted the drive acting on a rip-off.
When the team approached the area, the drug traders opened fire triggering a skirmish.
After the gunfight, the Rab team arrested Robu who sustained gunshot wounds.
Later, he died while being taken to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital.
Rab recovered a foreign made pistol, 11 bullets and 3,840 piece Yaba pills from the spot.
Robu was accused in 14 cases, said the Rab official.
