Rail links with Sylhet restored four hours after derailment
Rail communication between Sylhet and the rest of the country resumed four hours after a wagon of an oil-laden freight train derailed in Mallikpur area of Fenchuganj upazila on Saturday night (November 29).
According to railway officials, a wagon of freight train No. 952 went off the tracks around 9:30pm, snapping Sylhet’s rail links with Dhaka and Chattogram.
A relief train from Kulaura reached the spot and managed to salvage the derailed oil wagon.

Following the rescue operation, two Dhaka- and Chattogram-bound trains departed the station around 12:30am, Railway Police Station Sylhet Officer-in-Charge Md Abdul Quddus said.
Railway sources said the special tank train had arrived in Sylhet from Chattogram early Saturday to unload oil and was returning to Chattogram when the incident occurred.
As it reached Mallikpur around 9:30pm, the wheels of one of its wagons slipped off the tracks, leading to the disruption.

Derailment: Dhaka’s rail links with Ctg, Sylhet restored after 2 hrs
Rail communications with Chattogram and Sylhet from Dhaka remained suspended for two hours following the derailment of a bogie at Brahmanbaria Rail Station early Saturday.
Brahmanbaria Railway Station Master Jashim Uddin, said Cox’s Bazar-bound intercity ‘Cox’s Bazar Express’ train veered off the tracks around 6:10 am, halting train movement.
A relief train removed the bogie and restored partial rail connectivity around 8:30 am, he said

“Train movement on the up line has resumed but it will take some more time for full restoration of down line services,” he added.
Meanwhile, a caoch of a freight train from Chattogram veered off the tracks around 10:15 pm on Friday at the same station, halting train movement with Dhaka and other parts of the country.
Train services resumed on Saturday morning after a relief train from Akhaura removed the damaged freight coach.

Train communication between Rajshahi and rest of the country resumes after 4.5 hours
Train communication between Rajshahi and the rest of the country was restored on Monday morning, four and a half hours after a bogie of the Titumir Express derailed near Sardah Station, disrupting services.
Moyen Uddin, the manager of Rajshahi Railway Station, confirmed that train operations resumed around 11 am after the derailed bogie was successfully removed.
The derailed Titumir Express continued its journey to Chilahati in Nilphamari after the track was repaired, he said.

The derailment occurred shortly after the Chilahati-bound train left Rajshahi Station at 6:20 am. Mamunul Islam, general manager of the Western Zone of Bangladesh Railway, said that the last of the train's 10 bogies went off the tracks near Sardah Station after crossing the Belpukur area.
The disruption caused delays to three trains.

Probe body formed over Panchagarh Express train derailment
A six-member committee will investigate the derailment of the Panchagarh-bound Panchagarh Express near Kamalapur Railway Station in the small hours on Friday.
The Ministry of Railways has formed a committee with the Additional Secretary of the Planning Division. Mr. Rafiqul Islam as convener while Senior Assistant Secretary of the Land Branch, will act as the member secretary.
Other members of the committee include the Additional Director General of Railway Services at Bangladesh Railways, the Chief Engineer (West) of Bangladesh Railways in Rajshahi, the Deputy Inspector General of Railway Police, and a representative from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).
Train communication with Dhaka restored following derailment
The committee has been asked to submit the report within seven days.
The incident, occurring around 12:30 am on Friday in the outer signal area of Kamalapur Railway Station station, led to widespread delays, impacting train schedules from Dhaka on Friday morning.
The derailment brought train operations on both eastern and western routes to a standstill, leaving trains stranded at multiple stations, including Joydebpur, Pubail, and Tongi in Gazipur; Jinaradi and Ghorashal in Narsingdi; and Dhaka Airport, Tejgaon, and Cantonment stations. The result was a ripple effect of delays, with several trains departing 5-7 hours behind schedule.

Burimari Express derails in Pabna, train service between Dhaka and north disrupted
Train service between Dhaka and the northern regions of Bangladesh was halted following the derailment of two bogies of the Burimari Express at Muladuli Railway Station in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna. The incident occurred early this morning (May 09, 2024).

The derailment took place as the train was passing through the Muladuli station area. Railway authorities are currently on the scene, working to re-rail the affected bogies and clear the tracks.
Rajshahi Railway Station Manager Abdul Karim confirmed the derailment, and said that efforts are in progress to restore service as quickly as possible.

Derailment snaps Sylhet’s rail link with Dhaka, rest of the country
Train communication between Sylhet and Dhaka and rest of the country remained suspended since Saturday morning as a train derailed at Kamalganj upazila in Moulvibazar district.
Srimangal Railway Station Master Shakhawat Hossain, said the engine and two bogies of the Sylhet-bound ‘Udayan Express’ train from Chattogram veered off the tracks after hitting a tree that fell on the track due to storm while passing the Lawachara National Park around 5 am, halting train movement.
The authorities concerned are working to restore the rail connection.

Train derails in Mymensingh
A Chattogram-bound train derailed in Kewatkhali of Mymensingh on Monday morning.
A wagon of Nasirabad Express train veered off the tracks around 8am, said Mymensingh GRP Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Mohiuddin Ahmed.

The rail communication on Mymensingh-Bhairab route was suspended due to the derailment, he said.
On information, a salvage train from Kewatkhali loco shadow was sent to the spot, he added.

Train derails in Gazipur
Two bogies of an oil-laden train derailed at Tongi Railway Station in Gazipur Sunday noon, said authorities.
The bogies of the Dhaka bound freight train from Akhaura veered off the tracks before entering Tongi station around 2:30pm, said Tongi Railway Junction Station Master Abdur Rakib.

However, the rail communication of Dhaka with Sylhet and Chattogram remained normal through an alternative route, he added.
The higher authorities were informed to salvage the bogies, he added.

Dhaka’s rail link with northern districts restored after 5 hrs
Rail communications between Dhaka and northern districts were restored Saturday morning after five hours of suspension following derailment of a bogie of a train in Joypurhat.
A bogie of Dhaka-bound ‘Ekota Express’ train from Joypurhat veered off the tracks at Tilakpur railway station in Akkelpur upazila around 5am onn Saturday, halting rail communications between the capital and the northern Bangladesh," said station master Tofazzal Hossain.

The rail communications resumed around 10:45 am after a relief train from Ishwardi removed the bogies from the track.
Dhaka-bound ‘Nilsagar Express’, Panchagarh-bound ‘Drutojan Express’ and Chilahati-bound ‘Simanto Express’ got stranded at Akkelpur and Santahar railway stations respectively following the derailment.
