Gemcon Khulna lifted the title of Bangabandhu T20 Cup on Friday, beating Gazi Group Chattogram by 5 runs in the final at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

Captain Mahmudullah Riyad hit an unbeaten 70 to guide his team- Gemcon Khulna- to a challenging total of 155 against Gazi Group Chattogram in the final of Bangabandhu T20 Cup on Friday at Sher E Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

Gemcon Khulna and Gazi Group Chattogram are all set to lock horns in the final of the Bangabandhu T20 Cup which will take place on Friday at 4:30pm at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. 

Gazi Group Chattogram, the table-topper in the league-phase of the Bangabandhu T20 Cup, advanced to the final winning a low-scoring affair against Bexmimco Dhaka by seven wickets on Tuesday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

Bangladesh’s former captain and the right-arm pacer Mashrafe Bin Mortaza scalped five wickets conceding 35 runs, his best in the format, and guided his team Gemcon Khulna to a 47-run win over Gazi Group Chattogram on Monday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

Beximco Dhaka knocked Fortune Barishal out of the Bangabandhu T20 Cup on Monday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

Beating struggling Minister Group Rajshahi, Gazi Group Chattogram ended up the league-phase of Bangabandhu T20 Cup belting higehst points — 14 from seven wins in eight games.

Gazi Group Chattogram beat Fortune Barishal by seven wickets in the Bangabandhu T20 Cup on Thursday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium riding on an impressive batting performance by Soumya Sarkar. Soumya took 37 balls to hit 62 with seven fours and three sixes to guide Chattogram to their sixth win in seven matches. Barishal’s playoff berth hinged on this game but the Tamim Iqbal-led side failed to capitalise the chance. They now have to win their last game of the league phase against Beximco Dhaka, and wait for Chattogram if they can beat Minister Group Rajshahi in their last game. In Thursday’s game, Chattgoram won the toss and sent Barishal to bat first. They made a stunning start adding 87 runs in the first wicket stand. Saif Hassan was the first wicket to fall posting 46 off 33 balls with six fours and to sixes.

Dew and fogs have caused the timings of the remaining Bangabandhu T20 Cup 2020 matches to be rescheduled.

Despite posting the highest total of the event so far, Gazi Group Chattogram narrowly escaped a defeat by one run against Minister Group Rajshahi in the ongoing Bangabandhu T20 Cup on Wednesday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
