Global Covid cases top 582 million
The overall number of Covid cases has now surged past 582 million amid a rise in new infections in Southeast Asia.
According to the latest global data, the total case count mounted to 582,173,485 and the death toll reached 6,419,833 on Monday morning.
The US has recorded 93,082,195 cases so far and 1,055,059 people have died from the virus in the country, the data shows.
After three straight days of reporting over 20,000 new cases a day, India's daily caseload Sunday came down to 19,673, officials said.
According to federal health ministry data released on Sunday morning, 19,673 new cases of COVID-19 were reported during the past 24 hours, taking the total tally to 44,019,811 in the country.

The country also logged 45 related deaths during the past 24 hours, pushing the overall death toll to 526,357 since the beginning of the pandemic, the ministry said.
With the increase in cases, the daily positivity rate stands at 4.96 percent and the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 4.88 percent, the ministry data showed.
New Zealand recorded 5,312 new community cases of COVID-19 and 28 more deaths, the Ministry of Health said on Monday.
There are currently a total of 1,502 deaths confirmed as attributable to COVID-19, either as the underlying cause of death or as a contributing factor since the pandemic began in New Zealand, the health ministry said.
New Zealand has reported 1,608,959 confirmed cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic hit the country in early 2020.
Covid in Bangladesh
Bangladesh recorded three more Covid-linked deaths with 365 fresh cases in 24 hours till Sunday.
With the latest numbers, the total fatalities reached 29,291while the caseload 2,005,257, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The daily case positivity rate declined to 6.38 per cent from Saturday's 6.64 percent as 5,720 samples were tested.
The mortality rate remained unchanged at 1.46 percent. The recovery rate rose to 96.87 per cent from Saturday's 96.84 per cent.

According to the latest global data, the total case count mounted to 579,836,225 and the death toll reached 6,414,919 on Friday morning.
The US has recorded 92,917,658 cases so far and 1,054,422 people have died from the virus in the country, the data shows.
India's daily Covid-19 caseload rose to 20,409, after showing a declining trend in the new cases, officials said on Thursday.
According to federal health ministry data released on Thursday morning, 20,409 new cases of Covid were reported in 24 hours, taking the total tally to 43,979,730 in the country.

The country also logged 47 related deaths during the period, pushing the overall toll to 526,258, the ministry said.
Covid in Bangladesh
Bangladesh recorded four more Covid-linked deaths with 618 new cases in 24 hours till Thursday morning.
With the latest figures, the country's total fatalities have reached 29,284 and the caseload 2,004,188, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The daily case positivity rate rose to 6.62 per cent from Wednesday's 6.83 per cent as 9,338 samples were tested.
The deceased included two men and two women. Three of them were from Chattogram and another from Dhaka division.
The mortality rate remained unchanged at 1.46 per cent. The recovery rate rose to 96.80 per cent from Thursday's 96.79 per cent.

Global Covid cases near 541 million
The overall number of Covid cases are gradually approaching 541 million amid a rise in new infections in parts of the world.
According to the latest global data, the total case count mounted to 540,561,040 while the death toll from the virus reached 6,331,494 on Monday morning.

The US has recorded 87,321,703 cases so far and 1,035,847 people have died from the virus in the country, the data shows.
India's COVID-19 tally rose to 43,222,017 on Sunday, as 8,582 new cases were registered during the past 24 hours across the country, showed the federal health ministry's latest data.
Besides, four deaths from the pandemic were registered across the country since Saturday morning, taking the total death toll to 524,757.
Brazil has recorded 31,456,865 cases so far and 668,177 people have died from the virus in the country.
Situation in Bangladesh
In increasing incidence of the virus Bangladesh registered 109 new Covid cases in 24 hours till Sunday morning taking the country's total caseload to 1,954,115.

The country's total fatalities, however, remained unchanged at 29,131 as no death was reported during the period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The daily test positivity rate increased to 2.06 per cent from Saturday’s 1.14 per cent as 5,330 samples were tested during this time.
The mortality rate remained unchanged at 1.49 per cent. The recovery rate also remained static at 97.50 per cent as 91 patients recovered during this period.

Global Covid-19 cases hit 72.8 million
More than 72.8 million people have been infected with coronavirus globally and over 1.62 million of them died since the first cases were reported in December last year, according to data compiled by the Johns Hopkins University (JHU).
