Bodies of 2 workers recovered from septic tank in Dhaka
The bodies of two workers were recovered from a septic tank of an under-construction building in Uttarkhan area of the capital on Sunday.
The deceased- Md Samad, 55 and Madhu Miah, 42, were from Gaibandha district.
Md Safiqul Islam, deputy assistant director of Fire Service and Civil Defence Dhaka Zone-3, said the workers got trapped inside the septic tank while opening the shuttering there around 9 am.
Being informed, a team from a nearby fire station rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies from the septic tank, he said adding that the bodies were handed over to police.
The cause of the death of the workers could not be known immediately, he added.

2 die of suffocation while cleaning septic tank in Dinajpur
Two men died while working inside a septic tank reportedly without any protective gear in a newly constructed building in Chirirbandar upazila of Dinajpur today (September 7, 2022), said police.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Mabud, 35, and Saidul Islam, 38, residents of the upazila.
Mason Altaf Hossain entered the septic tank at Noukhoir village around 9am. When he failed to return, van pullers Abdul and Saidul climbed down the tank.

After a while, locals rescued the trio in unconscious condition from inside the septic tank and rushed them to Sayedpur General Hospital where doctors declared Abdul and Saidul dead, said Bazlur Rashid, officer-in-charge (OC) of Chirirbandar police station.
Altaf was shifted to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital where he is undergoing treatment in critical condition, he added.

The bodies were handed over to their respective families without any post-mortem, said the OC.

Chandpur: 2 suffocate to death working inside septic tank
Two men suffocated to death after they were allegedly working inside a septic tank without any protective gear at an under-construction building in Matlab Dakshin upazila in Chandpur Friday.
The deceased were identified as Liton, 36, and Rasel, 26, from Putia village of the upazila.
They entered the septic tank at Baroigaon village around 9am.

After a while, the owner of the house found them unconscious inside the tank and informed the police, Md Mohiuddin Mia, officer-in-charge of Matlab Dakshin Police Station, told UNB.
Later fire service officials reached the spot, pulled the men out of the tank and rushed them to a hospital, where they were declared brought dead, Asaduzzaman, station officer of Matlab Fire Service and Civil Defence Station, said.
The bodies were sent to Matlab Dakshin Upazila Health Complex for autopsies, Mohiuddin said.
"Preliminary probe suggests that the duo inhaled poisonous gases and were asphyxiated to death. But we are waiting for detailed autopsy reports," he added.

3 siblings killed in Feni septic tank blast
Three brothers were killed as a septic tank of an under-construction building exploded in Feni municipality Tuesday morning, said police.
The deceased were identified as Md Moniruzzaman, Nurul Islam Munshi and Md Abdur Rahman Munshi, of Bagerhat district. They were workers of the under-construction building.
The explosion occurred around 11 am as toxic gas accumulated inside the tank after its pipe got clogged in ‘Rahul Amin Bhaban’ in Nazir Road area of the town, leaving two brothers dead on spot, said Feni Fire Service Officer Purna Chandra Mutsuddi.

Another brother who sustained injuries was rushed to Feni General Hospital where he died.
The workers used to live in a tin-shed room on the septic tank of the building, he added.
“It is yet to be known whether any other person was injured. Rescue operations are still going on,” said the fire service official.
The bodies were kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy, said Nizam Uddin Ahmed, officer-in-charge (OC) of Feni Model police station.

2 siblings die after ‘inhaling toxic gas’ in Chandpur
Two siblings died reportedly after inhaling toxic gas accumulated inside a septic tank of an under-construction building at Hajiganj Bazar in Haziganj upazila of Chandpur district on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Rabbani, 38 and Mohon, 22- two sons of Sajeman Ali of Nachole upazila in Chapainawabganj district.

Zobair Syed, officer-in-charge of Hajiganj Police Station, said the two brothers went to clean a septic tank in an under-construction building in the area around 9:30 am.
Mohon first climbed down the septic tank. When no response came from Mohon after a long time, Rabbani then got into the septic tank.
As he didn’t come out, local people informed the matter to local Fire Service men who rescued them.

Child dies falling into septic tank in Khulna
A 7-year-old child died after falling into an under-construction septic tank in Khalishpur area of Khulna city on Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified as Abdullah, son of Abul Kalam, a resident of Khalishpur Bangabasi area.
According to the locals, construction work was going on at Khalishpur Municipal Super Market where the septic tank was left uncovered and Abdullah fell into it while playing there.

His body was recovered after an hour of frantic effort, they said.
Khalishpur police officer-in-charge (OC) Kamal Hossain said an unnatural death case has been registered at the police station.

Elderly man falls into septic tank in Khulna, dies
A 66-year-old man died on Monday evening after allegedly falling into a septic tank in the Chandkhali Bazar area of Paikgacha upazila in Khulna.
The deceased was identified as Kamrul Islam, a cleaning staff of the meat market in Chandkhali Bazar.

According to locals, around 6pm, Kamrul was heading towards the waste dump near the market when he fell into the septic tank through a hole left by its broken lid.
Kamrul drowned in the tank before he could be rescued, said Jafor, an assistant sub-inspector of Paikgacha police station. "A case of unnatural death has been filed in this regard."

Two die in Chuadanga after inhaling toxic gas inside septic tank
Two persons died allegedly after inhaling toxic gas inside the septic tank of an under-construction building in Chuadanga on Friday morning.
The deceased were identified as sanitation worker Shariful Islam, 30, son of Ansar Pramanik of Kalyanpur village in Kushtia, and Sagar Das,15, the grandson of the building owner.
Around 10am, Shariful got down into the septic tank of the building owned by Nipen Das in Anandadhap village of the Alamdanga municipality area. When he failed to return, Sagar entered the tank to check on him.

When both failed to return, Sagar's family members informed the Alamdanga Fire Service and Civil Defence.
A team came and pulled the duo out of the septic tank and rushed them to Alamdanga upazila health complex, where doctors declared them dead on arrival, said Mokhlesur Rahman, officer-in-charge of the Alamdanga fire service station.
Saiful Islam, officer-in-charge of Alamdanga police station, said a team was sent to the spot for a probe.

Father, son die after inhaling toxic gas in Jashore
A man and his son died after inhaling toxic gas inside a septic tank at Singhajhuli village in Chaugachha upazila of Jashore district on Monday.
The deceased were identified as Madhu Das, 53 and his son Sagar Das, 26 of South Kayarpara village in the upazila.

Saiful Islam Sabuj, officer-in-charge of Chaugachha Police Station, said at first Madhu entered the septic tank at the house of one Hadiuzzaman in the morning.
As Madhu was not responding for a long time, the house owner called his son Sagar.
Later, Sagar got down into the septic tank but did not come out.

On information, local firefighting units recovered the bodies of Madhu and Sagar from the septic tank.

Septic tank workers: 2 dead after going down without protective equipment
Two workers died inhaling poisonous gases Monday while working in a septic tank at Nawabganj upazila in Dhaka.
The deceased were identified as Lutfor Rahman, 35, and Shanjay Dash, 21.
Sub-Inspector of Nawabganj police station Mintu Lashkar said, the incident happened at Khalpar area around 4pm.

The two workers went down inside the septic tank installed recently at a residential house in Nababganj, but as is so often the case in their line of work, they didn't have the proper equipment with them to avoid inhaling the toxic gases found in these tanks.
Eventually they fell unconscious. Locals later rescued and took them to upazila health complex where the doctor announced them dead.

Police have recovered the bodies and prepared postmortem reports. Legal procedures in this connection are ongoing, said SI Mintu.
