DU student accuses a BCL activist of slapping him
Authorities at Dhaka University’s Sir A F Rahman Hall has ordered an investigation after a resident student alleged that he had badly slapped by another student of the hall.
Molla Taimur Rahman, student of Peace and Conflict department of 2020-21 session lodged an allegation to the hall provost against Rokonuzzam Rokon, a second year student of Political Science department also resident in AF Rahman hall. He is an activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League,
In the written complaint Molla Taimur alleged that the slap was so severe that he lost his hearing ability for a few hours.
Rokan allegedly confronted him as he was seen talking to a senior at Haji Muhammad Mohsin playground on February 15.

"He later threatened to kick me out of the hall and kill me if I informed the hall administration,” Rokan told me.
Molla said he got scared and left the hall and took shelter at his brother’s house.
Asked about the allegation, AF Rahman hall provost Prof. Saiful Khan said, "we have got a written allegation today and a two-members investigation team has been formed to find out the fact.”
The committee comprising DU teacers Farooq Shah and Dr Mumit Al Rashid has been asked to the report in two days.

Two house tutors of Sir AF Rahman hall have been given the responsibility of the investigation. They are: Farooq Shah and Dr. Mumit Al Rashid.
The AF Rahman hall committee of BCL said it will cooperate with the probe.

BM College female student complains against BCL activist for assault
A female student of Government Brojmohun College in Barishal on Monday lodged a complaint at a police station and to college authority against a Bangladesh Chhatra League activist for beating and threatening her.
The incident occurred around Sunday evening in front of the main gate of the BM College, according to the girl who is a second year student of the college.
The female student said she had been frequently eve-teased by the accused BCL activist Nujaim Islam Shawon, a student of Syed Hatem Ali College after refusing his proposal for a romantic relationship a year ago.

He often used to threaten her acquaintances in this regard, the girl said.
On Sunday, Nujaim obstructed her in front of the college and beat her up and at one point the girl’s cell phone broke, falling from her hand, she said in her complaint.
Accused Nujaim threatened that if she disclosed about this assault to anyone his associate Sagor, another BM college student will not let her enter the college in future.
“We have received a complaint against Nujaim and Sagor over the incident on Monday afternoon,” said Azimul Karim , Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali model police station.
The investigation is on and the accused will soon be brought under law, he said.
Dr Mommad Golam Kibria, principal of BM College said they have received a written complaint from the student.
“A three-member probe body has been formed to look into the matter. Action will be taken immediately after receiving the report,” he said.

“Sifat” at it again; another student tortured at DU’s Surya Sen Hall
A resident student of Dhaka University's Surya Sen Hall has been tortured allegedly by Sifat Ullah, said to be a BCL activist, for not attending a political programme.
Kazi Porosh Miah, a second-year student of French Language and Culture Department and a resident of Surya Sen Hall, was called by Sifat Ullah to room No 351 around 7.00pm on Monday and was tortured mentally and physically reportedly by Sifat.
"Sifat asked me to attend a BCL (Bangladesh Chhatra League) programme two days back but I couldn’t attend it as I had an exam on that day," said Porosh.

"On Monday, when I had been to his room, he tortured me mentally and physically,” a traumatized Porosh told UNB.
Porosh said he submitted a written complaint to the hall provost and the proctor online.
Asked, DU Proctor Prof AKM Golam Rabbani said, "I heard about the incident but have not received any written complaint yet."
"A three-member committee, led by Prof Ahmad Ullah, senior house tutor of Surya Sen Hall, has been formed to investigate the complaint as soon as possible,” said Prof Mokbul Hossain Bhuiyan, the Provost of Surya Sen hall.
"If the allegations are proved, action will be taken," said Md Abdul Motaleb, the principal administrative officer of the hall.
Several attempts were made to contact Sifat over phone for his comment on the allegations but he could not be reached.
November 8, Sifat, a student of Women and Gender Studies, reportedly tortured two more students -- Ariful Islam and Tariqul Islam -- to drive them out from the dormitory and threatened to kill them if they do not do so.

However, the victims withdrew the allegations saying that it was just a “misunderstanding”.
That is not the end of Sifat's stories of bullying, anyway!
Sifat was suspended for six months for torturing two third-year students of Economics department -- Rokeya Gazi Lina and Asaduzzaman Parnto- on July 7 of 2018.

Knifed BCL activist dies at Chattogram
