9 BNP men land in jail in Naogaon
A Naogaon court on Wednesday sent nine leaders and activists of BNP and its associate bodies to jail in a case filed under the Explosive Substances Act.
Naogaon District and Sessions Judge Abu Shamim Azad passed the order after rejecting their bail petitions.

They are Fazle Huda Babul, joint secretary of Badalgachhi upazila unit BNP, vice-president Zakir Hossain Chowdhury, general secretary Abdul Hadi Chowdhury Tipu, office secretary Shahin Hossain, Omar Faruk, Kola union unit BNP, Bidyit Hossain, general secretary of Balubhara union unit BNP, Anwar Hossain, vice-president of Mithapur union unit BNP, Rustom Ali, vice president of Mathurapur union unit Jubo Dal and Dulal Mohri, president of Badalgachhi upazila unit Krishak Dal.
According to the case statement, a number of crude bombs were exploded during a rally of Awami League, organised by upazila unit Awami League on Nevember 22.

Sanaul Hossain, President of upazila unit Krishak League lodged a complaint against 18 identified leaders and activists of BNP and 150 unidentified people with Badalgachhi Police Station.
Police arrested eight leaders of BNP from the upazila on that day.

32 BNP men, including ex-councillor, arrested in Dhaka
Police arrested 32 leaders and activists of BNP, including a former councillor, from Mohakhali’s Sena Kalyan Sangstha Tower on Friday night.
Former ward councilor of no 20 ward of Banani unit BNP Abul Kalam Azad was among the arrestees, said Md Hafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Kafrul Police Station.
Police arrested them on a charge of “hatching an anti-government conspiracy”, he said.
They were also accused in different criminal cases, he added.

Attack on ex-judge Manik: 50 BNP men sued
A case has been filed against 50 unidentified BNP men in connection with the attack on former Supreme Court Judge AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik.
The judge’s gunman Md Rafiqul Islam filed the case against the BNP men at Paltan police station around 11.15pm on Wednesday, said Salahuddin Miah, officer-in-charge of the police station.
The case was filed for carrying out attack on the former judge, his driver, gunman and vandalising his car, the OC said.

The accused will be arrested after scrutinising the CCTV footages, he said.
According to the caste statement, the attack was made from a procession of the BNP in Nayapaltan area on Wednesday afternoon.
The retired Supreme Court judge came under attack on this way to attend a TV talk show.
The incident occurred around 4:15 pm when he was crossing Nayapaltan area near Rajarbagh Central police Hospital, said Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC-Motijheel) of DMP Enamul Haque Mithu.

Journo among 20 hurt as BNP men, police clash in Natore
At least 20 people, including a journalist, were injured in a clash between BNP activists and police at Alaipur in Natore town on Monday.
Witnesses said BNP leaders and activists gathered in front of their party office at Alaipur around 10 am to hold a rally as part of their central program demanding its chairperson Khaleda Zia’s release for her treatment abroad.

At one stage, police obstructed them, triggering a clash.
BNP men attacked police with brick chips and a chase and a counter-chase took place, leaving 20 people wounded.
Police fired several rounds of tear gas shells to bring the situation under control, said superintendent of police Liton Kumar Saha.
After a seven-hour mass-hunger strike on Saturday, BNP announced to hold rallies across the country, including the capital, on Monday, demanding the immediate release of 'critically' ill Khaleda Zia for better treatment abroad.

Party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the program while concluding their hunger-strike program in front of BNP’s Naya Paltan central office.
He said their party’s all units of metropolitan cities, district towns, and upazila headquarters will hold rallies.
