Students stage demo protesting HSC results through subject mapping; several injured
Several students were injured in an attack allegedly by some staff of Dhaka Education Board when they were staging demonstration protesting the results of the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent examinations through subject mapping.
Witnesses said a group of students under the banner of ‘HSC-Batch 2024’ entered the Dhaka Education Board premises and staged demonstration opposing the HSC results terming it ‘discriminatory’.
Four of the injured were taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.

Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar, Chairman of Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, said the students who failed to pass the examinations were staging protests.

65 institutions see zero pass rate in HSC exams
No student from 65 institutions passed the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination and its equivalent examinations this year.
This marks a significant increase from last year when 42 institutions witnessed zero pass rate.
The results of the HSC and equivalent exams were published on Tuesday with a pass rate of 77.78%.

How to get HSC results tomorrow
The results of the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent examinations of 2024 will be published on Tuesday.
The results will be published around 11:00 am on the day.
The chairmen of the relevant education boards will announce the results.
This year, the HSC and its equivalent exams began across the country except in Sylhet division on June 30.The exams in Sylhet division started on July 9 as the Ministry of Education deferred the board’s exams due to flooding.

Students will be able to check their results through SMS and official websites.
Visiting the Dhaka Education Board website (www.dhakaeducationboard.gov.bd), www.educationboardresults.gov.bd, or www.eduboardresults.gov.bd, and clicking on the "Result" section, institutions can download result sheets by entering their EIIN number. Besides, students can download their individual result sheets using their roll and registration numbers.
Results will also be accessible via the board's official Android app. Furthermore, students who pre-register via SMS will receive their results directly on their mobile phones.
To pre-register, students must go to the message option of any mobile operator and type: HSC<>Board Name (First 3 Letters)<>Roll<>Year and send it to 16222.
After eight days of the exams, all exams were postponed this year amid unrest centering the quota reform movement and subsequent mass upsurge.
The Education Ministry had decided to evaluate the students using subject mapping method for other subjects based on the SSC results.
A total of 14,50,790 students from nine general Education Boards, Madrasa Board and Technical Board were expected to sit for the exams from 9,463 educational institutions at 2,275 centres across the country.

SSC, HSC exams either in Nov or Dec next: Education Minister
The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent examinations maybe be held either in the second week of November or the first week of December this year maintaining health guidelines if the Covid-19 situation improves in Bangladesh.
Education Minister Dipu Moni came up with the disclosure while speaking at a virtual press briefing over the SSC and HSC examinations.

“The examinations will be held with short syllabuses on three elective subjects on group basis, and 24 assignments will be given for SSC students while 30 assignments for HSC students before the examinations,” she told journalists.
“No assignment will be given on Bangla, English and other compulsory subjects and the 4th subjects. The SSC examinees will be given assignments from July 18 while the HSC examinees will be given that from July 26,” she said.
The minister urged the students to carry out their assignments attentively.

When talking to journalists, Dipu said: “The Covid-19 vaccination programme is going on and the infection rate has declined in the months of November and December. As per our previous experiences, we hope that the infection rate may come down at the end of the year.”
The process of filling up forms will start online after the Eid-ul-Azha, she said, adding, ““If the Covid-19 situation doesn’t improve in time, then the results of SSC and HSC will be published based on the results of the previous examinations and assignments.”
Educational institutions across the country have remained shut since March last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The closure was extended several times, most recently until July 31, 2021.

Last year’s HSC examinees were evaluated on the basis of their results of JSC and SSC exams, a decision which received a mixed reaction.
On June 13, Dr Dipu Moni said her ministry is preparing to take SSC and HSC examinations this year with shortened syllabuses.

HSC, equivalent exam results can be published; bills passed
Three amendment bills were passed in Parliament on Sunday, paving the path for publishing the results of the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations by January 28 next.
