Registration for Joy Bangla Concert has kicked off, with an overwhelming rush among young music lovers to avail the opportunity to enjoy one of the biggest live music events in the country. This year, Joy Bangla Concert will be held on March 8 at Dhaka’s Army Stadium, under the supervision of Centre for Research and Information (CRI). Young Bangla, one of the leading youth networks of Bangladesh, has been holding the rock concert since 2015 to instill the spirit of the Liberation War among youths. Concert-goers are requested to log into ticket.youngbangla.org to avail their e-tickets. For registration, the participants will require their passport-sized photos and images of their ID cards. NIDs, ID cards of their educational institutions, passports, and driving licenses will be accepted. Continuing the previous years' trend, the concert this year is set to feature iconic and emerging bands of the country such as Artcell, Avoid Rafa, Lalon, Chirkutt, Cryptic Fate, Karnival, Meghdol, Nemesis and Arekta Rock Band. The youths who jumped, screamed, and danced to rock music and the wartime patriotic melodies are eagerly waiting for the concert that is returning after a gap of two years due to the pandemic. “The last edition in 2020 is a memorable experience for me — that concert so vividly created a unique blend of history and music. The idea of rendering songs that were aired on the wartime radio station called Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra 50 years ago — inspiring the freedom fighters to free the country — is really awe-inspiring,” said Rajin, a university student. With a call to roar like the nation did on March 7, favorite bands presented several Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra songs before an audience of this generation at previous editions. Starting in 2015, in successive years, the country’s biggest concert for youths added some special features such as presentation of the coloured version of the speech in 2016. Election Commissioner Md Alamgir said on Wednesday that Bangladesh Jamaat-e Islami can get registration under a different name if they fulfill all the conditions. “If anyone seeks registration, they will have to come up as a new party. If they fulfill all the conditions, they will get registration. And if they fail, they will not get it,” he said. He made the comment when he talked to reporters at his office at Nirbachan Bhaban in the city’s Agargaon area. Read:Bangladesh Development Party seeks EC registration Alamgir said the registration of Jamaat-e-Islami was cancelled as its charter was not consistent with the Constitution and the spirit of the Liberation War. “If now any new political party applies for registration and their charter is consistent with our Constitution and the spirit of the Liberation War, there is no war criminal among them and fulfills all other conditions, you can’t brand someone as a Jamaat man,” he said. He, however, said there is no scope for any party to get registered as Jamaat-e-Islami now. The deadline for new political parties to apply for registration will expire on October 30. The High Court declared the registration of Jamaat-e-Islami illegal in 2013 and the EC cancelled its registration in 2018. Read:EC directed to fix new date for Noakhali Zila Parishad election Replying to another question, he said the provision for the registered political parties to ensure at least 33 percent women in their all-level committees by 2030 was not so realistic. “Those who incorporate it in the law didn’t consider the reality,” he said, adding that the political parties were also not so sincere to fulfill the provision. Alamgir said the Election Commission has now recommended the extension of the deadline for fulfilling the target to 2030. According to the Representation of Public Order, a registered political party needs to fix the goal of reserving at least 33 percent of all committee positions for women including the central committee and successively achieving this goal by 2020. But the political parties failed to meet the goal by 2020.

The Department of Health on Wednesday said that the delays  in getting vaccine SMS are being caused by high number of registrations in the country.Prof. Dr. Md. Nazmul Islam, spokesperson of the Directorate General of Health Services, said this in the daily health bulletin.“In most cases, the number of people registering is way more than the capacity of the vaccination centres in a given day.” he said.“We are trying our best to solve the problems. I am optimistic that we can deliver good news regarding this very soon,” he added. We are looking forward to receiving  positive news from them,” he added.He informed that a total of 3, 15,97,320 people have received Covid jabs in Bangladesh.
