AL activist stabbed dead in Kushtia
An activist of Awami League’s local unit was stabbed to death, allegedly by his rivals, over previous enmity at Shekhpara village under Daulatpur upazila of Kushtia district on Wednesday night.
The deceased was identified as Beltu alias Batul, 35, son of Kamal Hossain, a freedom fighter, of the village.
Majibor Rahman, officer-in-charge of Daulatpur Police Station, said Beltu and Mostak, brother of Hasib Member of Mathurapur union, had been at loggerheads over the last Union Parishad election.
According to locals, Mostak found Beltu alone on his way to the local market from home around 8 pm and stabbed him indiscriminately, leaving him injured.
Farmer hacked dead in Kushtia
Later, he was taken to a local hospital where the doctors declared him dead.

Youth stabbed dead by robbers in Gazipur
A youth was stabbed to death allegedly by robbers in a house at Salna Mollah Para in Gazipur city Sunday night.
The deceased, Mahius Sunan Chowdhury, passed the HSC exams last year.
Mehazabien Chowdhury, the deceased’s mother, said around 3:00 am a group of five-six robbers entered the house by cutting the window grill.

“The robbers tied up her hands and feet and entered Suhan’s room. They tied him up also and looted five tolas of gold and cash after stabbing him with a sharp weapon,” she said.
After the robbers left, Mehazabien went to Suhan’s room and found him dead.
Ziaul Islam, officer-in-charge of Gazipur Sadar Police Station, said police were sent after receiving information about the incident.
It is being investigated whether the incident was a robbery or enmity or any other matter and legal action will be taken after receiving a complaint, he said.

Woman stabbed dead over land dispute in Dinajpur
A woman was stabbed to death allegedly by her rivals in Ghoraghat upazila of Dinajpur district over land dispute on Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified as Amena Begum, wife of Sekendar Ali, a resident of Baro Paikerghar village in Ghoraghat Upazila.
Locals said when Amena’s rivals went to cultivate a disputed land she obstructed them leading to an altercation.
At one stage, they stabbed her with a sharp weapon, leaving her dead on the spot.
Abdul Wahab, Duty Officer and Sub-Inspector of Ghoraghat Police Station, said police reached the spot and necessary actions will be taken.

However, this is the 3rd murder incident in Ghoraghat Upazila in a span of 10 days over ownership of land.
On January 25, two people were killed and four were injured in a clash between two groups over land dispute in the upazila.

Water pump caretaker stabbed dead in Habiganj
A 55-year-old caretaker of a water pump was stabbed dead allegedly by miscreants in Lakhai upazila of the district early Friday.
Lal Miah was a resident of Jhirunda village under the upazila.
Locals and police said the victim used to work as a guard of a water pump operated to water cropland in Bawa Haor.
Like other days, Lal Miah along with his eight-year-old grandson Tofazzel went to the pump on Thursday night to guard it and later fell asleep at a makeshift house.
A group of masked miscreants numbering five to six entered the house at the dead of night and stabbed him with sharp weapons keeping the grandson hostage, Lakhai Police Station Inspector (investigation) Chamapak Dam said quoting Tofazzel.
The grandson informed his relatives coming to the house, one kilometer off the pump, when the criminals left the spot, he said.

The family members rushed to the spot and took him to Habiganj Sadar Hospital where physicians declared him dead, the inspector said.
Md Khalilur Rahman, additional superintendent of police in the district, said he has already visited the spot while drives are on to nab the criminals.
He expressed reluctance to disclose anything for the sake of investigation.

Youth stabbed dead in Dhaka
An unidentified youth who was stabbed by some miscreants in the capital’s Jatrabari area died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in the early hours of Sunday.
The deceased, aged around 30, was found lying on a road in Dhabalpur area of Jatrabari.
A rickshaw puller, who took the victim to the hospital, said he found the youth lying on the road when he was going to Dhabalpur area with his rickshaw.

First, he took the victim to the Mugda Medical College Hospital and later he was shifted to the emergency unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). He died there at around 5 am on Sunday.
DMCH police camp in-charge Inspector Md. Bachchu Mia said the body has been kept at the hospital’s morgue for autopsy.

Man stabbed dead in Chattagram
A 33- year-old man was stabbed to death on Friday night in Chattagram’s CDA residential area.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Kayes, son of Abu Taher of Koigram village of Jiri union of Karnafuli upazila.
Dulal Mahmud, officer-in-charge of Karnafuli Thana Police Station, said the youth was found lying on a road with stab injuries on his abdomen.
Someone might have dumped the body after killing him, he said.

Teen stabbed dead in Bagerhat
A 16-year-old boy was stabbed to death allegedly by another youth following a brawl while watching the World Cup football match between Brazil and Croatia in Morelganj upazila of Bagerhat district on Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Tutul Hawladar, son of Abdul Barek Hawladar of Gulishakhali village of the upazila.
SM Ashraful Alam, inspector of Bagerhat District Police media cell, said local people arranged a big screen to watch the world cup football match between Brazil and Croatia at Samaddar Bazar of the village in the night.

During watching the football match, Turul locked into an altercation with Rubel Samaddar. At one stage, Rubel hit Tutul with a sharp weapon, leaving him critically injured.
Later, Tutul was taken to a local hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Police kept the body at the Bagerhat Sadar Hospital morgue.

Youth stabbed dead for protesting women’s harassment in city
A youth was stabbed to death by some miscreants for protesting stalking of some female passengers in bus in the capital’s Asad Gate area on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Md Rabbi Hossain, 22, from Shahid Nagar area of Lalbagh.
According to police, Rabbi along with some other people went to visit a park in Dhamrai from Azimpur on two hired buses on Tuesday morning. While returning to the city, Rabbi had an altercation with Faruk and some other men as they were teasing women passengers in the bus.

“At one point, Faruk called someone by phone and informed him about the incident. When the bus reached Asad Gate, some three to four people got into the bus and stabbed Rabbi indiscriminately, injuring him and another person named Shaon severely,” said Utpal Barua, Officer In-charge (OC) of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station.
Utpal added that the injured were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where Rabbi died around 1:00am on Wednesday.
The OC further said that the bus was filled with some shop workers from Gausia Market and some students from the New Market area.

Youth stabbed dead in Faridpur, one detained
A youth was stabbed to death allegedly by his friend over a mobile phone set in Kacharitek Mohammadpur Bazar area of Sadar upazila in the district Saturday night, said police.
The deceased was identified as Md Akash, 20, a resident of Gazipur district.
MA Jalil, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotowali Police Station of the district, said Akash, Firoz, 25 and their friend Shimul were coming to Faridpur from their workplace in Dhaka’s Nabinagar by a motorbike on Saturday.
Akash and Firoz locked into an altercation over a mobile phone set on their way, he said adding that Firoz and his some local friends stabbed Akash with knives at Kacharitek Bazar around 9 pm.

Akash sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Medical College Hospital where physicians declared him dead, the OC said.
Police detained accused Firoz, a resident of Faridpur district, after the incident.

35-yr-old stabbed to death in Dinajpur
A 35-year-old man was stabbed to death allegedly by a group of drug peddlers in the district's Hakimpur upazila on Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Bardin Islam Baten, a construction worker and son of Abu Taleb of Mathpara village.
Shariqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Hakimpur Police Station, said that Baten's younger brother Insan had been at loggerheads with a local drug peddler, Imon, over sharing profits from drug sales.
On Friday morning, Baten intervened and apparently ensured a patch-up between Insan and Imon. However, Imon was not satisfied with the settlement.

The same night, Imon along with his two associates, waylaid Baten on a bike and stabbed him indiscriminately, leaving him injured. "He was taken to a local hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival," said the OC.
“Police are trying to arrest the culprits,” he added.
