Five of a family charred to death in Chattogram
Five members of a family, including two children, who were asleep in their house, were found charred to death in Rangunia early Friday, police said.
The dead were identified as Kangal Boshak, 70, Lolita Boshak, 60, Lucky Boshak, 32, Saraswati Boshak, 4, and Sowrabh Boshak, 12.

Another member of the family, Khokon Boshak, 42, was rushed to Chittagong Medical College in a critical condition.
The fire broke out and engulfed the house of Abdul Malek at the Mohajonpara area of Parua union around 2am.
Abdul Hamid Mia, deputy assistant director of Chattogram fire service, said firefighters reached the spot after getting the information and they could tame the flames around 4am.
An accidental fire outbreak was suspected to be the reason for the accident.

However, Hamid said the exact reasons for the fire mishap and the extent of damage could not immediately be confirmed.
Abu Bakar, sub-inspector of Rangunia Police Station, said: "The bodies of five members of the family were brought to the police station in the morning."

4-year-old boy charred to death in Sherpur
A four-year-old boy was charred to death in a fire that engulfed his family house in Sherpur on Friday night, fire officials said.
The deceased was identified as Ismail Hossain, son of Amir Hossain of Babarchar Baldiapara village in Sribordi upazila.
The fire broke out at the cowshed of a person, named Ishak Ali, from charcoal bran kept there to drive away mosquitoes around 8 pm and spread quickly to two adjacent dwelling houses, said Ariful Islam, station officer of Sribordi Upazila Fire Service and Civil Defense.

All the occupants of the two houses, except the child, managed to get out, he said.
On information, a fire tender was rushed to the spot. After the flames were doused, firemen recovered the charred body of the boy from one of the houses.

Elderly man charred to death in Ctg
An elderly man was charred to death in a fire that broke out at a house in the Dhumpara area of Middle Halishahar in Chattogram on Wednesday.
The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Farooq Hossain Sikder, assistant director of Chattogram Divisional Fire Service, said the blaze began in the house around 12pm and spread quickly.

On information, three fire tenders were rushed to the spot. After the flames were doused, the firemen recovered the charred body of the man, he added.
A probe has been ordered to ascertain the exact cause of the fire, the officer said.

2 minor siblings charred to death in Noakhali
Two siblings were charred to death when a fire broke out in their house at Bir Narayanpur village in Senbag upazila of Noakhali district on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Noman, 7, and Mahi, 3, two children of Iqbal Hossain of the village.

Iqbal Hossain Patwari, officer-in-charge of Senbag Police Station, said the fire broke out at the house of Iqbal from an earthen oven around 11:30 am as Iqbal’s wife was preparing their launch.
At one stage, she went to a nearby pond for household work after leaving her two children in the house.
When she returned home, she found her house on fire.

Local people managed to extinguish the fire.
On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the charred bodies of the two children.

Minor boy charred to death in Gazipur fire
An eight-year-old boy was charred to death in a fire that broke out at a house in Pagar Jhinuk Market in the Tongi area of Gazipur district on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Abdur Rahman, a student of Al-Kawsar Tahmijul Quran Madrasha of Tongi and son of Joynal Abedin of Mymensingh district.
Iqbal Hasan, senior station officer of Tongi Fire Service, said the blaze started at the house belonging to Sadek Ahmed around 4pm and engulfed a portion of it.
Local people managed to bring the fire under control. Later firefighters recovered the charred body of Abdur Rahman from inside.

Mentally retarded youth charred to death in Cumilla
A mentally challenged youth living in chains was charred to death in a fire that broke out at his house in Paschim Kharera village of Burichang upazila on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Alauddin, 18, a Class XII student of Khasru Degree Government College and son of Abdul Matin of the village.

On Tuesday night, a fire broke out at the house. Alauddin was inside the house at that time and could not escape as he had been chained, said Alamgir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Burichang police station.
"Hearing his screams, Alauddin’s mother tried to save her son but failed. The fire also gutted two more adjoining houses," he said.
