A 36-year-old man was killed and two others were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over a land dispute at Beledanga village in Naragati upazila of Narail district on Monday. The deceased was identified as Yusuf Molla, 36, son of Moniruzzaman Molla of Beledanga village in the upazila. Abdur Rahim, officer-in-charge of Naragati Police Station, said Yusuf Molla and his cousin Ata Molla had been at loggerheads over a piece of land for a long time. As a sequel to the enmity, Yusuf had an altercation with his cousin over the issue around 9:00am. 8 injured in BNP factional clashes over Munshiganj-3 nomination At one stage, both groups attacked each other, leaving Yusuf, Firoz and Ashraful injured. They were later taken to a local hospital, where doctors declared Yusuf dead. Police are trying to arrest the attackers, said OC. Additional police have been deployed in the area to avert further trouble.

A man was killed after being hit by a pickup van in Hatirjheel area of the capital early Monday. The deceased was identified as Abdul Hanif Khan, 45, son of Rafiqul Khan of Babuganj upazila in Barishal. He had been living in a rented house in Hatirjheel area. A pedestrian, Kamruzzaman, said the pickup van hit Hanif while he was crossing the road in front of Hatirjheel Gate No. 2 and fled the scene immediately. Hanif was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a critical condition around 12:45 am where doctors declared him dead. Road crash leaves two dead in Cumilla Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of the police camp at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said the body has been kept at the hospital morgue. Hatirjheel Police Station has been informed about the accident, he added.    

A man was allegedly killed by his wife over a family feud in Ghatiara village in Sadar upazila of Brahmanbaria district in the small hours on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Tajul Islam, 50, son of Emran Mollah of the village. Read: Man held for assaulting girl wearing western attire at Narsingdi rail station Police arrested his wife Samsia Akter Toha, 45, from the spot for questioning, said Sohrab Al Hossain, inspector (Investigation) of Brahmanbaria Sadar Model Police Station. Tajul was in Saudi Arabia for two decades. He returned to the country two months back. Since then, the couple used to fight over various issues. On Friday midnight, Toha had an altercation with Tajul about closing the windows of the house. At one point, Tajul slapped Toha. Later, aggrieved Toha hit Tajul, leaving him injured. Read: Fake ‘judge’ arrested in Chandpur Tajul was taken to District Sadar Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, said the inspector. The body has been kept in the hospital morgue for autopsy. The deceased's father Emran Mollah has lodged a complaint at the Sadar Model Police Station, the officer added.  

A 50-year-old man was allegedly killed by a youth over a trivial matter in the Uposhohor area of Sylhet on Tuesday evening. The deceased, Selim Mia, was the owner of Rainbox Auto Dry Cleaners in the area. Officer-in-charge of Shahparan Police Station Anisur Rahman said an argument broke out between the accused, Nazmul Islam Monir, and Selim after the latter lost his mobile phone. "The argument turned violent when Monir suddenly hit Selim with a sharp object, leaving him seriously injured. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival," the OC said. We are waiting for the autopsy report," the OC added.

A man was killed allegedly by his brothers over a land dispute in Panchani village of Rupsar TSB union in Khulna on Tuesday evening. The deceased was identified as Israil Mollah, son of late Iklas Mollah. Md Kamruzzaman, a sub-inspector at Rupsha police station, said that Israil and his brothers -- Intaz and Maruf -- had been at loggerheads over the ownership of the land in question for a long time. "In a fit of rage, the two brothers and Intaz's son Sohag hit Israil with sticks and bricks, leaving him seriously injured," he said. The injured was taken to Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead on arrival, the SI added.

A wild elephant was electrocuted in Satkania upazila of Chattogram in the early hours of Saturday. Local people set the electric wire around their croplands to prevent wild elephants from destroying their crops and the 50-year-old elephant was electrocuted while searching for food, said Mamun Mia, range officer at Satkania Forest Department. Sub-inspector (SI) of  Satkania police station Ramzan said on information, officials of Forest Department and Upazila Livestock office visit the spot. A man was killed by his rivals during a land dispute in Kanpur village of Akkelpur upazila in Joypurhat on Friday.

A suspected rapist was killed in a reported gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) near Pirgachha Bazar of Rajshahi's Puthia upazila early Tuesday.

A  man  was  killed after being run over by a  train  at  Zamubari Pakihana  area  in  Badarganj Upazila of  the  district  on  Monday.

A man was killed and nine others , including two children, were injured as a boiler of a rice mill went off in Chowrongibazar area of Sadar upazila on Sunday.
