4 JCD activists detained during protest against harassment of their female activist
Four Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) activists were detained from a protest march - called in response to the recent attack on a JCD leader Nadia Nusrat allegedly by Chhatra League men and her subsequent arrest on false charges in Feni.
Sala Uddin Mamun, president of Feni district Chhatra Dal, said as part of their peaceful program, a procession was initiated, commencing from the trunk road and moving through Shaheed Shahidullah Qaiser Road.

Police baton-charged their procession and detained four activists, he said.
The detainees are Mohammad Yasin, Sharif, Jasim, and Hriday.
Feni district Chhatra Dal's general secretary, Morshed Alam Milan, said 15-20 JCD activists were injured in the incident.

“During our peaceful program, the police unexpectedly started baton charging and arrested four people,” he said.
According to the police, the clash between two factions of Chhatra Dal erupted during the procession, compelling them to employ baton charges to control the situation.

Officer-in-Charge of Feni Model Police Station, Nizam Uddin, said, “When two groups of Chhatra Dal began clashing during the procession, the police arrested four individuals through baton charge to restore order”
A case is being prepared regarding this incident, he added.

Attack on ex-justice Manik: 11 JCD activists put on 2-day remand
A Dhaka court on Thursday placed 11 leaders and activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal(JCD) on a two-day remand each in a case over the attack on former Supreme Court Judge JAHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik.
Those remanded are- JCD Central Committee Joint General Secretary Maksudur Rahman Sumit, former Joint General Secretary of Jagannath University unit JCD Md Sakhawat Hossain Khan, Kalabagan JCD member Md Robin Khan, Md Sagar, Md Jasim Uddin Bhuiyan, Md Harun Or Rashid, Matiur Rahman, Shamim Rahman, Jamal Hossain, Ariful Islam and Abu Taher.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Debdash Chandra Adhikary passed the order as the investigating officer and sub-inspector of Paltan Model Police Station Md Manjurul Hasan Khan produced them before the court with a five-day remand prayer.
On Wednesday, a case was filed against 50 unidentified BNP men in connection with the attack.
The former judge’s gunman Md Rafiqul Islam filed the case against the BNP men at Paltan police station, said Salahuddin Miah, officer-in-charge of the police station.
The case was filed for carrying out attack on the former judge, his driver, gunman and vandalising his car, the OC said.

According to the caste statement, the attack was made from a procession of the BNP in Nayapaltan area on Wednesday afternoon.
The retired Supreme Court judge came under attack on this way to attend a TV talk show.
The incident occurred around 4:15 pm when he was crossing Nayapaltan area near Rajarbagh Central police Hospital, said Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC-Motijheel) of DMP Enamul Haque Mithu.

JCD’s showdown in city amid corona outbreak
Amid the alarming spike in Covid cases, over a thousand Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leaders and activists staged a showdown in front of BNP’s Nayapaltan central office welcoming the new committees of its four units in Dhaka city.
The JCD activists started gathering in front of the BNP office in small processions at 10am. They chanted slogans hailing the leaders made conveners and member secretaries of the new convening committees of JCD Dhaka south, north, east and west units.

Later, the JCD leaders and activists brought out a procession towards Fakirerpool around 11:45am, forcing police to stop the vehicle movement on the road.
After the procession, police did not allow the JCD activists to reassemble in front of the BNP office.
Additional police personnel were deployed in front of the BNP office and its adjoining areas to maintain law and order centring the showdown by the leaders and activists of JCD, the student body of BNP.
Many JCD men were seen joining the procession and the gathering without wearing masks.
On July 14, JCD president Fazlur Rahman Khokon and general secretary Iqbal Hossain Shyamol announced the two-member committee of the organisation’s each unit of Dhaka city south, north, east and west.

Shah Alam (Pavel Sikder) was made convener and Niaz Mahmud (Niloy) member secretary of Dhaka south city unit while Jasim Sikder Rana, convener and Ruhul Amin Sohel member secretary of north unit Sheikh Khalid Hasan convener and Mohammad Al Amin member secretary of east unit and Mohsin Siddiqui Robi convener and Ashraful Islam Mamun member secretary of the west unit.

JCD activists clash with police in capital, Mymensingh
Some activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal locked into a clash with police in front of BNP’s Nayapaltan central office on Thursday over foiling a discussion programme of the student body in Mymensingh.
At least 14 people, including four police members, were injured in the clash while five JCD activists were arrested.
Witnesses said a group of JCD activists brought out a procession around 5pm in front of the BNP office protesting a reported attack on their discussion programme in Mymensingh.
As the procession was marching towards Nightingale crossing, police obstructed it, triggering a clash between the law enforcers and the JCD activists.
At one stage, police charged batons on the JCD men who also retaliated with brickbats and sticks, leaving an unspecified number of people injured.

Contacted, Abdul Ahad, deputy commissioner (Motijheel division) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said the JCD activists attacked police from a procession in front of the BNP office, leaving four of them injured.
He said police also charged batons and brought the situation under control.
Ahad said five people were arrested from the spot in this connection.
BNP organising secretary Syed Imran Saleh Prince said JCD central leaders went to Mymensingh to join a discussion programme there in the morning, but police attacked them and foiled the programme.
He said some JCD men brought out a procession at Nayapaltan protesting that incident, but police attacked them here too without any provocation, leaving 10 activists of their student body.

Besides, Prince said, around 10 JCD leaders and activists, including former JCD central general secretary Habibur Rashid Habib and current general secretary Iqbal Hossain Shyamol, were injured and many others arrested.
Meanwhile, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir strongly condemned the two incidents, saying the government has turned Bangladesh into a “police state”.
In a statement, he demanded immediate release of those arrested both in Dhaka and Mymensingh.
