DU admission test: Students demand cancellation of transgender quota
A group of students of Dhaka University formed a human chain demanding cancellation of the transgender quota in the undergraduate programme admission test and publish revised admission circular as early as possible.
The human chain was held under the banner of 'general students' at the foot of anti-terrorist Raju sculpture adjacent to the TSC of the university around 11.00 am.

Later, the students submitted a memorandum to the Vice-Chancellor including a four-point demand.
The demands are: immediate cancellation of transgender quota in the admission test circular, canceling this admission notification and publishing revised notification; to ensure adequate facilities and safe environment for Hijra community students on the campus and to apologising for promoting transgender ideology.

The students participating in the human chain said that according to the constitution of Bangladesh, the backward communities should be given higher education opportunities through quota.

DU holds 'Cha' unit admission test
Dhaka University (DU) on Friday held the admission test of the 'Cha' unit under the Faculty of Fine Arts for the 2021-22 academic session.The test was held at designated examination centres across the eight divisions of the country. The test began at 11 am for a duration of one-and-a-half hours."This year, we decided to hold the exams in all eight divisions of the country to minimise the sufferings of the candidates and their parents," said DU vice-chancellor Prof Akhtaruzzaman after visiting an exam center of Fine Arts faculty.

The drawing test will be held on July 2.

DU holds 'Gha' unit admission test
Dhaka University (DU) on Saturday held the admission test of the 'Gha' unit under the Faculty of Social Science for the 2021-22 academic session.
The test was held at designated examination centres across the eight divisions of the country. The test began at 11am for a duration of one-and-a-half hours.
"This year, we decided to hold the exams in all eight divisions of the country to minimise the sufferings of the candidates and their parents," said DU vice-chancellor Prof Akhtaruzzaman after visiting an exam center of Social science faculty building.

"Social Science faculty dean Prof. Dr. Zia Rahman coordinating the unit exam and vice-chancellors of the respective universities are helping us in this regard. I was told that the exams were held smoothly," he said.
Asked about QS University ranking position, he said, "We have no attention on ranking. We want to improve the quality of education, expand the field of basic research and the parameters of ranking in the international arena like research, foreign students, foreign teachers, the overall learning environment, the quality of life of students and we need to address it soon."
He said, "If we can build a university in the light of all these indicators, then the place of our expectations in the international arena will be clearer. It is very difficult to expect good ranking position improving the parameters that are used for ranking."

59 students are competing for every seat of social science faculty as 78,045 students have applied for 1,337 seats in 'Gha' unit under the faculty of Social Science.
'Gha' unit exam is a group changing exam in which students of all groups (Science, Commerce and Arts) can participate.

Students block Nilkhet Intersection demanding 2nd chance in DU admission test
Some students have blocked Nilkhet intersection demanding the university authorities to allow them to sit for the entry test of Dhaka University for the 2nd time.
They started demonstration around 12.30 pm and them left for the Registrar Building of Dhaka University around 1:15pm.

They held a sit-in programme in front of the Registrar Building to press home their demand.Tanvir ahmed, one of the students who joined the rally, said, "I was sick during the admission test of Dhaka University in 2020-21 session and that’s why I want a second chance in the admission test."Another student named Shohan Ahmed said that they are just asking the authorities to give students a 2nd chance. “If educational institutions like medical college can allow students to sit for 2nd time entry test, then why DU won't allow us?”

Dhaka University 'Ga’ unit results out, pass rate 21.75%
A total of 21.75% candidates have passed the ‘Ga’ unit admission test of Dhaka University.
The results of the test conducted by the Business Studies Faculty for the 2020-21 academic session were published Tuesday.
Some 5,079 students passed (both MCQ and written) the examination, out of 23,347 who sat for 1,250 seats.

Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman, vice-chancellor of the university, unveiled the results at the Professor Abdul Matin Chowdhury Virtual Classroom next to his office around noon.
The dean of the Business Studies Faculty, Prof Abdul Moin, and registrar Prabir Kumar Sarkar were present on the occassion.
Admission test results are available on the university website -- admission.eis.du.ac.bd -- and can also be checked by sending SMS 'DU GA <roll no>' to 16321.
The top 1,250 successful candidates can choose their preferred subject through the website between 28 and December 5.

For scrutiny of answer scripts, candidates will have to pay the necessary fees and contact the Dean of the Fine Arts Faculty between November 24 and 30.

DU holds Cha unit admission test
Dhaka University on Saturday held the admission test of the Cha unit under the fine arts faculty for the 2020-21 academic session.
The test was held in eight divisional cities across the country. The test began at 11am for a duration of 30 minutes.

DU Vice Chancellor Prof Akhtaruzzaman, pro-VC (administration) Prof Dr Samad, pro-VC (administration) Prof Dr ASM Maksud Kamal visited a number of exam centers.
This year, 115 students are fighting for a single seat.
From October 1, DU started conducting its admission tests through a unit of the Science Group.

Dhaka University’s ‘Kha’ unit admission test held
The admission test of Dhaka University's 'Kha' unit for 2020-21 academic session was held on Saturday in all eight divisions of the country.
The total number of seats in this unit is 2,378. However, a total of 47,639 applicants participated in the test.
This year, the DU entry tests are being held outside Dhaka as well as at the university for the first time considering the pandemic situation.

Strict hygiene rules were maintained at all the venues of the divisional cities.
"The exam was held are in a peaceful environment," Dhaka University Proctor AKM Golam Rabbani told UNB.
DU Vice Chancellor Professor Akhtaruzzaman, pro VC (administration) prof Dr Samad, pro VC (administration) Prof Dr ASM Maksud Kamal visited the different exam centers in Dhaka.
The entry test of Dhaka University's 'Ka' unit was held on Friday peacefully in all eight divisions.

DU admission tests rescheduled amid pandemic
The Dhaka University (DU) authorities have rescheduled the dates of the Bachelor entrance examinations considering the country's Covid-19 situation.
The Public Relations officer of the university issued a notice in this regard on Thursday.
According to the revised schedule, 'Ka' unit admission test will be held on August 6, 'Kha' unit admission test on August 7, 'Ga' unit on August 13, 'Gha' unit on August 14 and 'Cha' unit (general knowledge) on July 31.
The date for 'Cha' unit admission test (drawing) will be informed in due time, it said.

The decision was taken at an emergency virtual meeting of the DU General Admission Committee chaired by the Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman on Thursday.
Admit cards of all units can be downloaded from 10th July until 30 minutes before the exams begin.

However, other guidelines and conditions for the admission test will remain unchanged.
