realme GT 6 5G Review: Is It a Flagship Killer?
The youth-focused brand realme’s GT series smartphones are mainly built for virtual gaming. Last year, the GT 5 became popular for its futuristic design and features. This year, GT 6, a new addition to the GT series was launched on 25th June with a more refined and minimal design and even more specs bump. Let’s take a detailed look at the features of realme GT 6 5G to see whether it can rival the flagships of the Android world.
Key Specifications of realme GT 6 5G
Design and Build Quality
The GT line from realme was always known for its design and sturdy build. realme however took a more toned-down approach this year with a frosted glass back, an iPhone look-alike camera system, and a mirror visor to house the large sensors. It’s like a minimal homage to a design language that is every bit Realme.
The dimensions of the device come in at 162 by 75.1 by 8.65 mm with an effective weight of 199 g. The front glass is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2. This device bears a plastic panel. Ports and buttons are all in their usual space. The chamfered edges provide a good grip in an otherwise slippery and fingerprint magnet back. The GT 6 also comes with IP65 water and dustproofing for protection against accidental splashes. The two color options for this year’s GT are Razon Green and Fluid Silver.
The Display
The display on the GT 6 is a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED panel with stacked features. Users will be getting 1B colors, 120Hz refresh rate, HDR 10+ support, and Dolby Vision. The typical brightness of the panel is around 1000 nits with 1600 nits of HBM and a stunning 6000 nits of peak brightness. Overall, it’s a larger and brighter panel compared to the outgoing GT 5.
The effective resolution of the panel comes in at 1264 by 2780 pixels making for a 450 ppi density. The near bezel-less curved panel has a screen-to-body ratio of 94.2% which is one of the highest in the industry. The camera specs are a huge bump up from the GT 5 as it now includes an improved ultrawide and a new telephoto lens. In terms of performance, the details are on point with a balanced dynamic range. The ultrawide however didn’t capture as sharp images as the main wide-angle sensor. The colors were natural with a slight hint of warm tones in them.
The night photography and the portrait shots will also impress you with the exposure and details. The selfie camera, while being a tad soft with the images, still produced social media-ready images.
The videography on the GT 6 is rated at 4K@30/60fps, 1080p@30/60/120/240fps thanks to the OIS and gyro-EIS. The stabilization and smooth capture allowed for decent videography out of the GT 6.

Verdict
The GT 6 makes some impressive improvements in design, processor, camera, and even display compared to the GT 5. In terms of real-world performance, the GT 6 excels compared to its higher-tier competitors like the Xiaomi 14 Civi and the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra.
However, there is still room for developments in the telephoto and the ultrawide camera performance. Nowadays many budget-friendly phones are offering glass-made rear panels and aluminum frame constructions. So, the GT 6 phone falls short in this section. Besides, the lack of headphone jack, reverse, and wireless charging may disappoint many users.
On the whole, the realme GT 6 5G can be best described as a gaming flagship killer with minor shortcomings. It’ll be a perfect grab for those looking for a flagship experience in gaming smartphones without breaking the bank.

iQOO Neo7 SE Review: Competent Mid-range Gaming Phone
vivo’s subsidiary company iQOO has had a reputation for producing value-for-money phones since 2019. In this wave, iQOO launched another gaming-centric device Neo7 SE. Recently, the phone had its global launch which brought it in the spotlight. Let’s have a look at where it can be the right gaming phone for you.
Key Specs of Vivo iQOO Neo7 SE
Design and Build Quality
There’s an obvious caveat of having a plastic build all around on a budget-friendly to lower mid-range phone. The Neo7 SE is also no different. The plastic frame and back have a mix of matte and glossy frosted finish which gives it a glass-like look.
The Neo7 SE comes in at around 164.8 mm by 76.9 mm by 8.6 mm with 193 g weight. It’s a relatively lightweight build with a considerably large footprint. The camera housing on the back is reminiscent of the Neo7 with the iconic squared cut. The front features a near-uniform punch-hole display with a slight bottom chin.
Read more: ZTE Nubia Red Magic 9 Pro Plus Review with Pros and Cons
Ports and buttons are identical to the Neo6 SE. Users will be missing out on the 3.5 mm headphone jack and the extendable card storage on the Neo7 SE.
Overall the design and the build quality are okay for its price. It matches the expectation for a sub 35K BDT smartphone.
The Display
The display on the Neo7 SE is a 6.78-inch AMOLED panel with a 12 Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support, and 1300 nits of peak brightness. The panel has 1080 by 2400 pixels with a 20:9 aspect ratio and 388 PPI. The slight bottom chin accounts for an 87.6% screen-to-body ratio.
The Neo6 SE also had a similar spec albeit with a higher pixel density thanks to the smaller screen size. Competitions in this price point like the Redmi K60E bring higher resolution with nearly the same features.

But as for the performance, the Neo7 SE holds its ground. The sharp brightness provides great contrast both indoors and outdoors. The viewing angles were great and the high refresh rate worked smoothly in day-to-day use. For the price, it’s hard to beat what Neo7 SE brings to the table.

Asus ROG Phone 8 Pro Review: A High-end Gaming Device
The Asus ROG Phone 8 Pro debuted in India on January 08, 2024, and people are wondering if it's still a gaming phone. Unlike the ancestors, this new model looks quite different. Even with the new look, the 8 Pro keeps its focus on gaming without making things complicated. However, this flagship smartphone's performance has changed a bit though. The previous ROG phones used to work like a gaming PC. Interestingly, the latest 8 Pro serves in simpler and easier ways like a PlayStation. Let’s take a look at the detailed review of the Asus ROG Phone 8 Pro.
Key Features and Specifications of ROG Phone 8 Pro
Design
The ROG Phone 8 Pro brings some notable changes to the table, introducing an edge-to-edge screen that enhances its aesthetic appeal. However, this design shift comes with trade-offs, such as the removal of dual front-facing speakers, impacting the immersive gaming experience.
The incorporation of a pinhole camera in the screen raises concerns for a gaming device, disrupting the seamless display. Despite losing some distinctive features that set the ROG Phone apart, it retains the headphone jack and gains an IP68 rating, a positive addition given its open ports. The transition from a glass to a plastic back raises concerns about slipperiness, emphasising the need for a protective case.

The device maintains its off-centre USB-C, but a secondary USB-C on the side proves handy for charging during portrait-mode gaming. Notably, the pixel-like LED effects on the back, customizable to display various information, provide a unique touch and contribute positively to the gaming aesthetics, standing out from typical RGB implementations.
Weighing 225g, 8 Pro’s dimensions are 163.8 mm by 76.8 mm by 8.9 mm. It is available in Phantom Black colour.
Display
The ROG Phone 8 Pro maintains a 6.78-inch FHD OLED display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. It features 2,500 nits of peak brightness
It lacks the QHD resolution seen in the contemporary Android flagships. The display supports an adaptive 1-120Hz refresh rate for regular use, with a fixed 165Hz rate for specific games, enhancing smoothness during gameplay.

In comparison to the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, the ROG Phone 8 Pro excels in key metrics/ However, 8 Pro faces tough competition from the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which offers remarkable brightness and color accuracy.
Notably, the ROG Phone 8 introduces a unique always-on display called Screen Light, utilizing tiny icons for charging status and essential information due to the absence of a thick top bezel. While functional, there's room for improvement, such as a scaling feature for better readability from a distance.

Asus ROG Phone 7 Review: Does it offer value for money?
There was a time when high-end premium flagships served as the best mobile gaming devices. There were no custom gaming-specific smartphones in the market. That all changed with the likes of Razer, Redmagic, and ROG phones. Among several brands, the ROG Phone built up a reputation for being the most comprehensive mobile gaming solution. Asus recently launched the ROG Phone 7 on 13th April on a preorder basis. Here’s everything about the device and why it might be the best gaming smartphone of 2023.
Key Specifications of Asus ROG Phone 7
Design and Build Quality
The design of the ROG Phone 7 is similar to its previous iterations. Just like the ROG laptops, the ROG phones are every bit flashy and eye-catching in their own way.
This year, there is a slight design change on the back. The polygonal camera housing is still the same and as unique as ever. There is a diagonal cut that brings two tones to the back of the phone. The upper part is made to be a see-through portion much like the Nothing Phone 1. Though users won’t see the exact internals, just the graphics. The bottom portion is finished in matte with the RGB ROG eye logo in place. The white and black color variant brings an impressive color array and stunning look to the device.

Its dimensions are 6.81 by 3.03 by 0.41 inches. Being a gaming phone, the ROG 7 is on the heavier side at 239 grams. The device has been stacked with ports and features that would exclusively cater to gamers. The front and the back of the device I protected by Gorilla Glass Victus and Glass 3 respectively. There is a smooth metal frame all around the device complemented by ROG branding. The branding on the two right-side corners also acts as gaming triggers.
There is a headphone jack and a USB Type C port at the bottom with another Type C port on the side. There's also a three-pin port for the accessory mount. Since this is a gaming phone, a charging port on the side makes perfect sense. Here’s a complete list of the mounting options available to the users.
The usual sim tray and color-coded volume and power buttons are carried on from the ROG 6. In essence, the ROG 7 is not much different from the ROG 6 in terms of design, build quality, and accessibility. And it exactly works in favor of the ROG 7.

The Display
The display design on the ROG 7 will not appeal to everyone. There’s a considerable chin on both the bottom and top of the device. But it's completely understandable and even appreciated by gamers as it assists with the horizontal holding of the phone avoiding accidental touches. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus
Coming to the specifications of the panel, the display is a 6.78-inch AMOLED panel with FHD+ (1080 by 2448 pixels with 395 ppi density) resolution. The usual 1B color and HDR10+ is here along with the insane 165 Hz refresh rate. The device has a peak brightness of 1500 nits which is more than enough for gaming under the sun.
The display is smooth, crisp, and has excellent touch response. This is what one would expect from a gaming smartphone and the ROG 7 delivers big time.

The Camera
The camera isn’t really a priority in a gaming smartphone. Yet Asus hasn’t completely overlooked the camera performance of the ROG phones. The same capable camera system from the 6 is carried onto the 7.
There’s a 50 MP main sensor with an additional 13 MP ultrawide and 5 MP macro shooter. The main camera does a decent job of capturing photos in daylight with good details and exposure. Asus has taken full advantage of the powerful processor of the ROG 7 and pushed the videography to up to 8K at 24 fps for the cinematic shots.
There is also a 32 MO front camera for all selfie lovers. Overall, the camera system of the ROG 7 produces passable results. Considering the target demographic of this phone, the camera on the ROG 7 will be more than satisfying.

Asus ROG Strix G16 Review: Is it a value for money gaming laptop?
The world of gaming laptops is complicated. It's never easy to find the perfect balance between the price, performance, and portability of a laptop in a single product. But since performance is the ultimate goal of a gaming laptop, price and portability seem to always take a back seat. The Asus ROG Strix G16 is here to disrupt that age-old notion. While it's not a small laptop by any means, it seems to have figured out a formula that works for a rational price range (by gaming laptop standards). Let’s have a detailed look.
Key Specifications of Asus ROG Strix G16
Design
The Asus ROG Strix G16 comes in 12 different configurations out of the box. That is a lot to take in even for hardcore gamers. For the sake of simplicity, this review uses the standard G614JI-N4175X model. This unit has specs that can be considered right in the middle of the lot.
The design of all the units is exactly the same with size and internal configurations differing in each model. By the external looks, the design principle from the G15 of last year has been carried on to the G16. The hinge has been staggered below onto the base in a typical ROG design. The back hinge has been updated with a new grill.

Speaking of grills, there seems to be no end to them. The ROG Strix 16 has an aluminum top, a plastic body, and a hard plastic base. The sides and the base have been crisscrossed with air vents in all types of different designs. This has been done to let the hot air pass from the CPU and keep the laptop cool. The G16 has an intelligent noiseless cooling system but more on that later.
The aluminum top of G16 has some aggressive ROG branding which may not be to everyone’s preference. The Scars model, which is a much higher-tier variant of the G16 has a more toned-down back with the Aura Sync ROG eye logo. The standard model doesn’t have the Aura Sync on the logo.
There is a white bar along the front edge of the laptop. This time Asus has included RGB lighting for the device on the edges which gives it a quite futuristic look.

The choice of ports on the G16 is abundant. All of the ports are placed on the right of the laptop. There is the power port, RJ45 LAN, HDMI 2.1, and two USB 3.2 with one being a Thunderbolt one for PD support and a headphone jack. The HDMI port will be able to project up to 4K at 120 fps max on an external display.
