150 Jamaat-Shibir men sued, 6 held over attack on police in Rajshahi
Police Wednesday said they filed a case against 150 leaders and activists of the Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Chhatra Shibir over the attack on the law enforcers in Rajshahi city as a reaction to the arrest of the party's chief.
Ariful Islam, sub-inspector (SI) of Boalia Model Police Station, filed the case against 16 named and 134 unnamed people at the police station Tuesday night.
Boalia Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mazharul Islam said they have so far arrested six people, including the chief of Shah Makhdum Thana unit chief. "Efforts are on to arrest others."

A clash broke out Tuesday when the Awami League men intercepted a procession brought out by Jamaat and Shibir in the Darikharbona area to protest the arrest of their party chief Md Shafiqur Rahman. As result, a clash broke out between the two parties.
At that time, two law enforcers sustained injuries while trying to disperse the Jamaat and Shibir men, Mazharul said.

9 BNP men inc. Ishraque sued for attacking police on Dec 10
Police filed a case against nine BNP leaders and activists, including its executive committee member Ishraque Hossain, for attacking police at Jatrabari during the party’s Dhaka divisional rally on December 10.
The case was filed Monday at Jatrabari police station following a complaint received from Nowsher Ali, Sub Inspector of Jatrabari police station.
The case was filed under different sections of the Penal Code, 1860 and the Explosive Substances Act 1908.

According to the complaint, the accused obstructed police from performing their duty on the day by attacking with locally made arms, sticks, crude bombs at Golapbagh intersection at Jatrabari area.
They attacked with attempt of murder and injured police members, vandalised police vehicles and parts of crude bombs were seized from the area.

Other accused in the case are, Md Nabiullah Nabi, Senior Joint Convener of Dhaka South BNP, Pavel Shikder, Central Vice President of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, MD Jamshedul Alam Syamol, Joint Convener Md Jakir Hossain Ziku, former Joint Secretary of Dhaka South BNP Raisul Hasan Hobby, Shubho Hsan Babu, Md Kausar, Badal Sardar.

Attack on Ctg police outpost: 2 arrested
Detective Branch (DB) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) arrested two people, including a drug peddler, after some of his associates attacked a police outpost and snatched him away from law enforcers in Chattogram.
The arrestees are Md Hanif, the drug dealer and his brother Yasin, a transgender.
“The duo was arrested from a Dhaka-bound bus in the district’s Bhatiari area around 11:30pm on Tuesday,” said Mainur Rahman Chowdhury, Officer In-charge (OC) of Chandgaon Police Station.
Mohammad Ali Hossain, Deputy Commissioner (DB, North) of CMP, said that details will be known after interrogating Hanif.
The attackers had also taken away a wireless set from Sub-Inspector (SI) Sharif Rokonuzzaman, in-charge of Kalurghat Police Outpost, which was later found abandoned from Moulvibazar Rail Line area of the city.

On Saturday evening, Rokonuzzaman detained Hanif and another drug peddler Sharif from the former’s house in Kalurghat with the contraband drug and took them to Kalurghat Police Outpost.
A while later, Hanif’s associates and some transgender people attacked the outpost and snatched him from police custody.
A clash between the police and the attackers left Hanif’s sister Nazma dead and two policemen injured, said police.
Later, police filed two cases against 14 named and 210 unnamed people for attacking and ransacking the police outpost and possessing drugs. So far, police have detained eight people in connection with the incident.

98 JCD activists sued over attack on police in Chapainawabganj
A case has been filed against 98 leaders and activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) for launching an attack on police with crude bombs during a rally in Nachol upazila of Chapainawabganj.
Mintu Rahman, Officer In-charge (OC) of Nachol Police Station said sub-inspector Akbar Ali filed the case against 18 named and 70-80 unnamed people on Sunday night.
“We’re currently conducting drives to arrest the accused,” Mintu said.
According to police, some JCD men organised a rally on the premises of Oxford Academy in Sreerampur area under the district’s Nachol Sadar Upazila on Sunday afternoon without any permission.

Upon receiving the information, police went to the spot and tried to disperse them, which resulted in a heated argument and a chase and counter-chase between them, he said.
The JCD men threw crude bombs on us during rally, which injured two policemen and five more crude bombs were recovered from the spot, Mintu added.

Upazila parishad, police station vandalised in Faridpur
A number of offices and houses were vandalised and set on fire by locals in Faridpur’s Saltha Upazila on Monday night after a man was injured in an apparently unprovoked attack by a public servant.
The Upazila Parishad, residence of Upazila Nirbahi Officer, police station, office of Assistant Commissioner (land), upazila agriculture office, and sub-registry office, among others, were vandalised and some were torched.
Vehicles of Saltha UNO and the AC Land were also set on fire, said Upazila Parishad Chairman Wadud Matubbor.

Additional law enforcement units from Faridpur brought the situation under control.
