Man shot dead on way to offer prayers in Rajshahi
A man was shot dead by miscreants while on his way to offer prayers at a mosque in Rajshahi metropolis on Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as Md Mustafa, 50, son of Taimur Uddin of the Danshmari area under Motihar Police Station in the city.
The incident occurred around 8pm on a road adjacent to the wall of Hojapur cemetery.
Officer-in-Charge of Motihar Police Station Abul Kalam Azad, quoting locals, said Mustafa was heading to the mosque to offer prayers when miscreants opened fire on him.
He was shot in the right leg and fell unconscious on the spot.
Locals rescued and rushed him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead on arrival.
Dr Shankar Kumar Biswas, in-charge of the Emergency Department at the hospital, said Mustafa was brought in dead. He had sustained a bullet injury to his right leg and died due to excessive bleeding.
The OC said the motive behind the attack is yet to be known and the assailants remain unidentified. An investigation is underway and legal action will be taken, he added.

50-yr-old stabbed to death in Rajshahi
A 50-year-old man was stabbed to death by assailants in Tatarpur village of Rajshahi on Tuesday evening, police said on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Shahbaz Ali, son of Abdul Jobbar of the village in the district's Charghat upazila.

Locals said that Shahbaz was a supporter of Sahabur Ali, a member of the Shalua union parishad (UP). Sahabur had for long been at loggerheads with his rival, Kalam Ali.
As a sequel to their long rivalry, the two groups clashed many a time since Tuesday morning. And when Shahbaz and other supporters of Sahabur were waiting in the Akkaser Mor area in the evening, some men came on bikes and allegedly attacked them.
The assailants allegedly stabbed Shahbaz indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured. He was rushed to a local hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Officer-in-charge of Charghat Model Police Station, Jahangir Alam, said that no arrests have been made so far. "However, the situation is now under control," he added.

Ansar member hacked to death in Rajshahi
An Ansar member has been hacked to death in front of Hetam Khan Bidyut Bhaban in Rajshahi on Saturday evening.
The deceased was identified as Mizanur Rahman.
He was a player in Bangladesh Ansar at Sahipur, Tangail regiment.
Tensions are running high in the area over the murder of Mizanur Rahman. Protesters demanded the immediate arrest of the killer.

Boalia Model Police Station OC Nibaran Chandra Barman confirmed the news to UNB.
According to him, Mizanur came to Rajshahi to enjoy vacation with his family when he was stabbed to death on Saturday evening.
The OC said that a guy named Madhob reportedly hacked the Ansar personnel to death over a silly issue.

Mizanur was immediately rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where the duty officer declared him dead.
Oc Barman said that Madhob has been absconding since the incident. Police are doing everything within their reach to arrest him.
