Hefazat leader Maulana Osmani held
Police have arrested Hefazat-e-Islam central assistant publicity secretary Maulana Gaji Yaqub Osmani.
He was arrested from Feni on Thursday evening.

Osmani,44, is also organising secretary of Brahmanbaria district committee of Jamiat-e-Olamaye-Islam.
He was accused of being involved in Hefazat’s rampage in Brahmanbaria district and all across the country on March 26, 27 and 28.

A special team of Brahmanbaria district police arrested him.
The accused Hefazat leader has reportedly admitted to his involvement with the three-day long rampage by Hefazat in Brahmanbaria and across the country in primary interrogation, police said.

Hefazat leader Mahmud Habibi held in Demra
Police on Wednesday afternoon arrested Hefazat-e-Islam joint secretary general of Dhaka metropolitan (zone 10) Md. Mufti Faisal Mahmud Habibi from the capital’s Demra area.
A team of Mirpur DB police arrested him at around 4 pm.

He worked as the Khatib of Medina Chattar Central Jame Mosque in Demra and lived on Badsha Mia Road of the area.
Many Hefazat leaders have been arrested in the country recently following the vandalism and arson attack carried out by its activists across the country protesting against the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi marking the celebration of golden jubilee of the country’s independence last month.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Wednesday said, "As per our investigation, Hefazat-e-Islam carried out violence with an aim to repeat the incident of Shapla Chattar it unleashed in 2013."

Hefazat leader held in Netrokona
Police have arrested a member of Hefazat-e-Islam's dissolved central committee leader Maulana Abdul Qaium from Netrokona in a case over violence dating back to 2013.
He was arrested from a madrasa in Netrokona’s Kendua upazila on Wednesday, confirmed district Detective Branch (DB) OC Khandaker Saker Ahmed.
Abdul Qaium was the director general of the Malni Jamia Hussainiya Madrasa in Netrokona.

OC Khandaker Saker Ahmed said Maulana Abdul Qaium was the accused in the case filed in connection with the 2013 Hefazat violence in Narayanganj's Sonargaon.
A court arrest warrant was pending against him in that case for a long time, he added.

Hefazat leader Habibullah Kashemi held in city
Police on Wednesday arrested Hefazat-e-Islam leader Md. Mufti Habibullah Mahmud Kashemi from the capital’s Vatara area in a case over 2013 Shapla Chattar violence.
Md. Azharul Islam Mukul, chief of Demra zonal team, conducted a drive around 5:20 pm and arrested him, said Md A Ahad, DC, Detective Branch, Wari.

In Chattogram students of Hathazari Madrasa carried out infernal violence for two days, on March 26 and March 27.

They set fire to the car of the Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Hathazari that worth Tk. 55 lac. All documents from the AC land office were burned.
Government rest houses and three motorcycles were set on fire.
On March 27 in Brahmanbaria, at least five people were killed and around 50 others, including 25 cops, injured in clashes between members of law enforcement agencies and locals during Hefazat’s demonstrations at Nandanpur in Sadar upazila.

They had staged the protests against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bangladesh.
The next day, during Hefazat’s countrywide dawn-to-dusk hartal protesting police action on their anti-Modi processions in Dhaka, Chattogram and other districts, activists set fire to three buildings, including the land office in Brahmanbaria Sadar upazila.
They had also attacked a Chattogram-bound train at Talshohor Rail Station in Brahmanbaria town.

Besides, the Hefazat supporters also vandalised several private and government establishments, including Zila Parishad building, municipality building, Police Lines, Industrial School, land office, Alauddin Music Academy, and Foirtala Bus Stand in Sadar upazila.
The supporters had also attacked Brahmanbaria Press Club and confined some journalists to the premises.

Another top Hefazat leader held in city
Detective Branch (DB) members of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested another top leader of Hefazat Islam Bangladesh from the city's West Agargaon area on Saturday afternoon.
The arrestee is Dr Ahmad Abdul Kader, the Nayebe Ameer of Hefazat Islam Bangladesh.

Tipped off, a team of the DB (Tejgaon Division) police conducted a drive at West Agargaon around 7 pm and arrested Dr Abdul Kader, said DMP Additional DC (media) Iftekharul Islam.
Dr Abdul Kader, who was the former president of Islami Chhatra Shibir, was arrested in connection with several cases filed with different police stations including Paltan police station recently.

Hefazat leader Azizul Haque Islamabadi held in Chattogram
Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police on Monday arrested Azizul Haque Islamabadi, organizing secretry of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh, from Hathazari of Chattogram.
DB Joint Commissioner Md Mahbub Alam said Azizul Haque has been brought to Dhaka and shown arrested in a case filed over the violence at Shapla Chattar on May 5, 2013.

A Dhaka court placed Azizul Haque on a seven-day remand after he was produced before it in the afternoon, he said.
Meanwhile, Hefazat leaders and his family members claimed that Azizul remained missing since Sunday night.
Hefazat Ameer Allama Junaid Babunagari in a press statement expressed deep concern over the arrest and demanded his safe return.
“Arresting and suing innocent people like this won’t be tolerated,” he said.

Besides, Hefazat’s assistant finance secretary Mufti Ilias Hamidi, who was also arrested from Madanpur in Narayanganj, must be released as well, Babunagari said adding “Hefazat-e-Islam wants peace, but it will give befitting reply along with people if the repression continues.”
