Hefazat leader Mufti Farooq arrested in Bishwanath
Hefazat-e-Islam leader Mufti Farooq Ahmed was arrested Tuesday evening in a case filed over attack and vandalism in Jamserpur and Dhalipara village in Rampasha union of Sylhet’s Bishwanath upazila during the group's strike.
He was arrested from Bishwanath-Osmaninagar upazila border area during a police raid led by Bishwanath Police Inspector Roma Prasad Chakraborty, Sub-Inspector Nur Hossain and Aftabuzzaman.

He had been absconding since a case was filed regarding the sabotage during Hefazat-e-Islam strike on March 28 in Bishwanath.
On March 29, Nazmul Islam Shipu of Dhalipara village filed the case against 312 people, naming 62 of them.

Farooq Ahmed was the main accused in the case.

Hefazat leader Maulana Osmani held
Police have arrested Hefazat-e-Islam central assistant publicity secretary Maulana Gaji Yaqub Osmani.
He was arrested from Feni on Thursday evening.

Osmani,44, is also organising secretary of Brahmanbaria district committee of Jamiat-e-Olamaye-Islam.
He was accused of being involved in Hefazat’s rampage in Brahmanbaria district and all across the country on March 26, 27 and 28.

A special team of Brahmanbaria district police arrested him.
The accused Hefazat leader has reportedly admitted to his involvement with the three-day long rampage by Hefazat in Brahmanbaria and across the country in primary interrogation, police said.

B’baria violence: Hefazat leader Abdur Rahim Kasemi held
Police have arrested Hefazat-e-Islam Brahmanbaria district committee joint general secretary Mufti Abdur Rahim Qasemi in connection with a case over violence in the district.
He was arrested from the Vadughar area of the district on Tuesday afternoon.
He was a former teacher of Jamia Yunusiya Madrasa.
District additional superintendent of police (administration and crime) Raich Uddin said that on secret tip, a team of district police raided the Vadughar area and arrested him.
Abdur Rahim Kasemi's involvement in the Hefazat violence was identified through an investigation, he added.
Kasemi resigned from Hefazat-e-Islam on April 23 in protest of sabotage, seeking fair trial of those involved in violence.
In a written statement sent to reporters on the same day, Kasemi said that the extreme chaos created by Hefazat-e-Islam across the country over the arrival of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was inhumane. The loss of life and property of the country cannot be an Islamic act by any means.
Kasemi demanded the government identify and bring to justice those who were involved with it.

B’baria violence: Hefazat leader Junaid Qasemi held
A team of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police have arrested Hefazat-e-Islam leader Maulana Junaid Qasemi in connection with a case of Hefazat violence in Brahmanbaria.
He was arrested from Brahmanbaria at around 2 pm on Saturday, confirmed additional superintendent of police Jisanul Haque Jisan said.
There were multiple cases against Hefazat leader Maulana Junaid Qasemi for his involvement in destructive activities and violence, and the CID had already been assigned with investigating these, he added.
CID was asked to investigate 23 cases filed against the leaders and activists of Hefazat-e-Islam, across the country. The department was given the responsibility on April 19.

Hefazat leader detained in Faridpur
A Hefazat leader in Faridpur was arrested in connection with the attack at Faridpur's Bhanga police station.
On Friday morning Bhanga police arrested maulana Mohammad Abul Hossain, vice-president of Hefazat-e-Islam Faridpur district branch from his home at west Alipore, with the help of Faridpur police.
Abul Hossain was a Mohaddess of Charkamalapur Madrasa in Faridpur.

On March 27, a procession from a nearby madrasa attacked the Bhanga police station, causing extensive damage.
Several people, including the police on duty were injured in the attack.
Bhanga Police Station sub-inspector Mohammad Shahidullah filed a case accusing 300 unidentified persons.

The investigating officer of the case, Sub-Inspector of Bhanga Police Station Bikash Mandal said Abul Hossain was arrested from Faridpur city as an accused in the case.
A 7-day remand will be asked for Abul Hossain at the court, he added.
So far 19 people have been arrested in the case.

Another Hefazat leader arrested in city
Police on Thursday arrested another leader of Hefazat-e-Islam from the city’s Bangshal area on Thursday evening.
The arrestee is Mawlana Ihteshamul Haque Sathi, assistant office secretary of Hefazat-e-Islam Dhaka city unit.
Iftekhairul Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Media & PR Division) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said Ihteshamul Haque was arrested around 5:30 pm.

Earlier in the morning members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Khaled Syfullah Ayubi, assistant secretary general of Hefazat-e-Islam's central unit, from Singair upazila of Manikganj district.
On Wednesday, three top Hefazat-e-Islam leaders were arrested from Dhaka's Mohammadpur and Kafrul areas.
They were Mawlana Khurshid Alam Kasemi, nayeb-e-ameer of Khilafat Majlish and vice-president of Hefazat-e-Islam, Maulana Ataullah Amin, assistant general secretary of Hefazat's Dhaka city unit and joint secretary general of Bangladesh Khilafat Majlish, and Mufti Sharafat Hossain, joint general secretary of Khilafat Majlish.

On Tuesday, Mawlana Qurban Ali Kasemi, vice-president of Hefazat-e-Islam and joint secretary general of Khilafat Majlish, was also arrested from Dhaka's Basabo.
On April 18, Hefazat's joint secretary general Mamunul Haq was arrested from a Mohammadpur madrasa.
Many top Hefazat leaders have been arrested recently following vandalism and arson carried out by the organisation's supporters across the country against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bangladesh visit last month.

Hefazat leader Qurban Ali Kasemi arrested in Dhaka
Mawlana Qurban Ali Kasemi, Vice-President of Hefazat-e-Islam and Joint Secretary General of Khilafat Majlish, was arrested from Dhaka's Basabo area on Tuesday.
Members of Detective Branch (DB) arrested the Islamist leaders at 5:30pm, said Iftekharul Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

Earlier on April 18, Hefazat's Joint Secretary General Mamunul Haq was arrested from a madrasah in Mohammadpur area.
More arrests of Hefazat’s senior leaders were made in recent time after Hefazat supporters' acts of violence at different parts of the country protesting against the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi marking the celebration of golden jubilee of the country’s independence last month.

Another Hefazat leader detained
Maulana Jubair Ahmed, vice-president of Hefazat-e-Islam's Dhaka city unit has been detained from his residence in the capital today.
Iftekhairul Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Media & PR Division) confirmed the news to UNB.
He said the arrest was made at around 5pm based on an anonymous tip.

Maulana Jubair was arrested on charges of his involvement in the Shapla Chattar violence on May 5, 2013.
Police sources added that he is also accused in multiple cases for his alleged involvement with the recent violence in protest of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit.
Police have now arrested Hefazat central organising secretary Azizul Haque Islamabadi, assistant secretary general Sakhawat Hossein Raji, central committee assistant secretary general Manjurul Islam and assistant-publicity secretary Mufti Sharifullah in cases related to Shapla Chattar violence on May 5, 2013 - although few doubt the drive against the organisation's leadership stems from the opposition they displayed against the Indian prime minister.

The courts have also granted law enforcers several days to interrogate them in remand.
The most high profile arrest so far has been the one of Islamabadi. He was arrested from Chittagong on Sunday. The court granted 7 days' remand for him.

Another top Hefazat leader arrested
Hefazat-e-Islam’s Assistant Publicity Secretary Sharifullah was arrested in Dhaka on Tuesday night.
He was accused in a case filed under the Special Powers Act in 2013, said Azhar Mukul, additional deputy commissioner of Detective Branch (Wari division) of the DMP.

On Sunday, Hefazat’s Organising Secretary Azizul Haque Islamabadi was arrested in Chittagong.
The court has put him on a seven-day remand.
