In a commanding performance at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, the Khulna Tigers defeated Durdanto Dhaka with a convincing 10-wicket win—only the fourth in the history of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL)—on Sunday in Sylhet.
Opting to bat first, Durdanto Dhaka posted a total of 130 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs, featuring a steady 35 from Saim Ayub and a noteworthy 41 from Mohammad Naim.

However, a collective effort from the Khulna Tigers' bowlers, led by Mohammad Nawaz with three wickets, restrained Dhaka from gaining momentum. The middle order struggled, concluding their innings at a modest run rate of 6.50.
In response, the Khulna Tigers' openers, led by Anamul Haque, displayed exceptional batting prowess. Anamul's unbeaten 58 off 48 deliveries, including 4 boundaries and 2 sixes, along with Afif Hossain's quickfire 37 off 27, ensured a swift chase.

BPL 2024: Sylhet phase begins Friday
The Sylhet phase of the ongoing 10th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is set to commence on Friday with a match between Khulna Tigers and Rangpur Riders.
The BPL had a two-day break after the first phase in Dhaka.
Shakib Al Hasan diagnosed with retinal condition in left eye
A total of 10 matches will be played in Sylhet until February 3. Following this, the BPL action will return to Dhaka before heading to the port city of Chattogram. The final stage of the BPL is scheduled to take place in Dhaka.
Currently, Khulna Tigers lead the points table with two wins in two matches, securing four points. Chattogram Challengers have also amassed four points with two wins in three matches.
BPL 2024: Comilla Victorians secure maiden win as Barishal fails to defend 13 in last Over
Sylhet Strikers are the sole team yet to earn a point, having lost both matches played thus far.
Mushfiqur Rahim of Fortune Barishal leads the list of batters with the most runs in this year's BPL, amassing 156 runs in three matches. Imrul Kayes and Afghanistan’s Najibullah Zadran closely follow with 118 and 117 runs, respectively.

Chattogram Challengers, batting first, faced early setbacks but managed to post a competitive total of 121 in their allotted 20 overs on the tricky surface of Mirpur.

BPL 2023: Comilla Victorians shock Khulna Tigers in high-scoring BPL encounter
The Comilla Victorians made remarkable history in Tuesday's Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) match, succeeding in their chase of a target surpassing 200 runs and defeating the Khulna Tigers in Sylhet.
Khulna Tigers put up a strong score with contributions from Tamim Iqbal and Shai Hope, scoring 95 and 91 runs respectively, setting a total of 210 for 2 wickets.
However, the highlight of the match was Johnson Charles from the Comilla Victorians, who scored an impressive century with 107 runs and 11 sixes.
Comilla started off on the backfoot with early losses from Litton Das and Imrul Kayes while chasing a big target, but a crucial third-wicket partnership between Mohammad Rizwan and Johnson Charles of 122 runs sealed a fantastic victory for the Victorians. Rizwan made a significant contribution of 73 runs with 4 sixes.
Comilla achieved their chase with 7 wickets in hand and 10 balls to spare, marking their sixth consecutive win and moving up to third place in the points table with 6 wins in 9 matches.

On the other hand, Khulna suffered their seventh loss in 9 matches and currently sit in sixth place with a mere 4 points.
The Sylhet phase of the BPL has come to a close and the tournament will now move to Dhaka, starting on February 3rd.

BPL 2023: Sylhet Strikers overpower Khulna Tigers to ensure playoff berth
Sylhet Strikers ensured the playoff berth as the first team of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2023 with a commanding 31-run win over Khulna Tigers Monday.
This was the Strikers' eighth win in ten matches, a testament to their dominant performance throughout the tournament.
Put in to bat first, the Strikers scored 192-4 in 20 overs. Towhid Hridoy and Zakir Hasan scored 74 and 50 runs, respectively.
Despite a strong effort from the Tigers bowlers, led by Mark Deyal who took two wickets for 40 runs in four overs, the Strikers proved too strong for them.
Chasing 193, the Tigers managed to score 161-9 in 20 overs. Shai Hope and Azam Khan scored 33 runs each.

Veteran pacer Rubel Hossain was the standout performer for the Strikers, taking four wickets for 37 runs in four overs. With this four-for, Rubel completed 100 wickets in BPL. Mohammad Amir and Rejaur Rahman Raja took two wickets each.
The loss marked the sixth defeat for the Tigers in eight matches, putting them in fifth place in the current standings.

BPL 2023: Comilla Victorians edge out Khulna Tigers by four runs
In a thrilling encounter at the Bangladesh Premier League, Comilla Victorians edged out Khulna Tigers by four runs to strengthen their position in the points table.
Put in to bat first, Comilla scored 165-2 in their allotted 20 overs. Litton Das smashed 50 off 42 balls and Mohammad Rizwan remained unbeaten on 54 off 47 balls.
In reply, Khulna managed to score 161-6 in 20 overs. Andy Balbirnie top scored 38 off 31 balls for them; Shai Hope scored 33 off 32 balls.
Naseem Shah was the standout performer for Comilla, taking two wickets for 29 runs.
The player of the match award went to Rizwan for his unbeaten 54 runs.

With this win, Comilla secured 10 points from five wins in eight matches. Khulna Tigers earned only four points from seven matches.
Comilla will look to continue their winning ways as they move forward in the tournament. Khulna will be eager to bounce back and make a comeback in their next match.

BPL 2023: Dhaka win a low-scoring affair as Taskin bags four
The Khulna Tigers defeated the Dhaka Dominators by 24 runs in a low-scoring encounter in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) on Tuesday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
The Dominators lost the toss and were sent to bat first, but their innings never really got off the ground.
The top-scorer for the Dominators was Soumya Sarkar, who scored a valiant 57 runs off 45 balls, hitting 6 boundaries and 2 sixes. However, the rest of the batting line-up failed to deliver, with both Mizanur Rahman and Alex Blake all being dismissed for single-digit scores, and Usman Ghani and Mohammad Mithun suffering a duck each.

The Tigers' bowlers were on top form, with Nasum Ahmed and Nahidul Islam being the pick of the bowlers. Nahidul took 4 wickets for 6 runs in his 4 overs, while Nasum took 3 wickets for 11 runs in his 4 overs.
The Dominators could only manage 108 runs in 19.4 overs, setting the Tigers a below-par target of 109 runs to win.
The Tigers' chase got off to a poor start, with Shai Hope being dismissed early. But it was Tamim Iqbal who tried to lead the Tigers scoring 30 off 23 balls with three fours and one six. The Tigers’ captain Yasir Ali contributed well scoring 21 off 24 balls.
But their efforts were not enough to avoid defeat.

Eventually, the Tigers were bowled out for only 84 runs, resulting in a 24-run defeat for them.
Taskin Ahmed, the right-arm pacer, was the pick of the bowlers for the Dominators. He picked up four wickets, conceding only 9 runs in 3.3 overs. Nasir Hossain and Al Amin Hossain also did well with the ball, taking two wickets each.

BPL 2023: Khulna break the deadlock to register first win
Khulna Tigers have finally claimed their first victory in the current season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), coming to their fourth match.
They secured a dominant victory against Rangpur Riders on Tuesday in Chattogram, as Tamim Iqbal scored an unbeaten 60. Following the match, Khulna's captain Yasir Ali expressed relief upon the team's success.

Khulna won the toss and opted to bowl first in this match.
The Riders were restricted to 129 for all wickets in 20 overs, courtesy of a well-executed bowling effort by the opposition. Unfortunately, they lost their opener Rony Talukdar in the first over, causing an early setback.
However, Parvez Hossain Emon and Mahedi Hasan managed to recover with respective scores of 25 and 38, limiting the damage and keeping the Riders in the game.
But the other batter down the order failed to do well. Captain Shoaib Malik scored a mere nine runs.
Wahab Riaz and Amad Butt scalped a combined total of seven wickets for Khulna, with Wahab claiming four and Amad bagging three.
Tamim responded impressively by notching up 60 off just 47 balls, including four fours and two sixes. Mahmudul Hasan Joy also performed admirably, contributing 38 runs to the total.

Khulna reached the target in 18.2 overs.
The Riders' captain, Shoaib expressed his disappointment, saying that they had to score more runs to win the match, but they were unable to do so.

BPL 2023: Usman ton powers Chattogram to nine-wicket win over Khulna
Pakistan's Usman Khan smashed his first T20 century to help Chattogram Challengers get their first victory in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) after defeating Khulna Tigers on Monday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka's Mirpur.
Batting first, Khulna Tigers posted 178 runs, riding on the century of another Pakistani, Azam Khan.
In response, Usman upstaged Azam to power Chattogram to a nine-wicket win. He remained unbeaten on 103 off 58 balls, with five fours and three sixes.
Chasing 179, Usman and Max O'Dowd shared an opening stand of 141 runs.

Nahidul Islam broke the partnership, but it was too late for Khulna.
Earlier, Azam hit the first ton of the BPL 2023, helping Khulna post 178 for five with his unbeaten 109 off 57 balls.
Azam came to the crease as the number four batter after Khulna lost two wickets for only 12 runs.
On the way to his first T20 century, Azam hit nine fours and eight sixes. His previous best in T20 was 88.
Earlier, Khulna played their first match against Dhaka Dominators, which they lost by six wickets.
