Al Amin bags six, Tamim hits a ton as Dhaka League ends
On the last day of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League, Al Amin Hossain, the right-arm pacer of Legends of Rupganj, bagged six wickets against champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, and Tamim Iqbal of Prime Bank Cricket Club hit a century against Gazi Group Cricketers.
Riding on their performance, Legends of Rupganj secured a win by eight wickets while Prime Bank won by 78 runs.
In most parts of the Dhaka League, Al Amin remained out of form. Before the six-wicket haul on Thursday, Al Amin bagged eight wickets in eight matches in the league.

Sheikh Jamal batted first on Thursday and posted below-par total of 116 for all wickets in Mirpur. Captain Imrul Kayes hit a fifty but the other batters were unable to play well against the bowling attack of Rupganj led by Mashrafe Bin Mortaza.
In reply, Rupganj chased the target of 117 in 25.1 overs with eight wickets in hand.
Along with Tamim, who hit a century in the previous match, Anamul Haque Bijoy of Prime Bank hit 96 on Thursday. These two guided Prime Bank to a big total of 355 for seven. Tamim ended up on 137.

In reply, Gazi Group fell short off 78 runs despite the fifties from Al Amin Jnr (87) and Meherob Hasan (71). For Prime Bank, Taijul Islam and Rubel Hossain bagged three wickets each.
In the other match of the league on the same day, Abahani Limited beat Rupganj Tigers Cricket Club by 63 runs. Mohammad Saifuddin bagged four wickets for Abahani while Mosaddek Hossain Saikat took three.

Dhaka Premier League: Super League begins on April 18
The Super League stage of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League is set to begin on April 18, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed on Saturday.
A total of six clubs— Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, Legends of Rupganj, Abahani Limited, Prime Bank Cricket Club, Rupganj Tigers Cricket Club and Gazi Group Crickters— will participate in this phase of the Dhaka League.
Mohammedan Sporting Club who had roped in some big names of Bangladesh cricket has failed to qualify for the Super League. Two of their players— Mushfiqur Rahim and Mehidy Hasan Miraz— will play the Super League for Sheikh Jamal.
Mohammedan ended up as the seventh team with only 10 points from five wins in 10 matches.
Each of the five rounds of the Super League will have a reserve day.
In the first round matches, Sheikh Jamal will take on Gazi Group, Legends of Rupganj will play against Rupganj Tigers, and Abahani will take on Prime Bank Cricket Club.

City Club, Brothers Union and Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Samity will take part in the Relegation phase of the league. The two teams who will end up being at the bottom will be relegated from the event, they won’t be able to participate in the next season of the league directly.
Sheikh Jamal ended up the league phase of this season of Dhaka League as the best team with 18 points from nine wins in 10 matches while Abahani became number two in the points table with 14 from seven wins in 10 matches.
Veteran batter Naeem Islam scored the highest runs of this season so far— 749 from 10 matches with two centuries and five fifties. He is representing Legends of Rupganj. Prime Bank’s Anamul Haque Bijoy also hit two centuries and five fifties and scored 728 runs in this season of the league.
Parvez Rasool of India who has been playing for Sheikh Jamal has scalped 20 wickets so far in 10 matches while Rakibul Hasan of Prime Bank is right after him with 19 wickets in 10 matches.

Mohammedan in trouble after another defeat
Mohammedan Sporting Club on Saturday endured their fifth defeat in the ongoing Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League against Rupganj Tigers Cricket Club.
Mohammedan’s chances of qualifying for the Super League stage of the event is slim now.
Mohammedan batted first in Saturday’s match and posted only 143 runs for all wickets in 38.1 over. Mahmudullah Riyad was the best batter for them scoring 48 off 52 balls.

The other batters failed to play well against Enamul Haque Jnr of Rupganj Tigers who bagged five wickets conceding 41 runs in 9.1 overs. It was his maiden five-for in a 20-year-long career.
In reply, Rupganj Tigers chased down the target in just 36.2 overs and won the match by seven wickets. It was their fourth win in eight matches.
In other matches of the day, City Club beat Brothers Union by three wickets while Legends of Rupganj beat Shinepukur Cricket Club by nine runs.
Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club are at the top of the table with 14 points from seven wins in eight matches while Prime Bank Cricket Club are right behind them with 12 points from six wins in nine matches.
The other teams in the top eight are: Legends of Rupganj (12 points), Abahani Club Limited (10), Gazi Group Cricketers (10), Rupganj Tigers Cricket Club (8), Shinepukur Cricket Club (6), and City Club (6).

Shamim smashes a ton as Abahani secure big win
Left-handed batter Shamim Hossain hit 108 off 66 balls to guide Abahani Limited to an 111-run victory against City Club in the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League on Monday.
Abahani batted first and lost five wickets for 138 runs.
In the sixth wicket stand, Shamim and Jaker Ali added 171 runs on the board. Along the way, Shamim hit a ton and Jaker scored 65. Abahani ended up on 309 for five in 50 overs.
In reply, City Club tumbled for 198 in 42 overs. For them, Ashik Ul Alam and Moinul Islam hit a fifty each. Arafat Sunny bagged five wickets for Abahani.

In the other two matches of the day, Prime Bank beat the Legends of Rupganj by four wickets, and Gazi Group Cricketers beat Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Samity.

Sabbir, Sheikh Jamal manager fined over DPL incident
Legends of Rupganj batsman Sabbir Rahman and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi manager Sultan Mahmud have been fined Tk50,000 each over an incident during a match of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division T20 Cricket League Wednesday at BKSP.
"An incident involving two players and a club official – on June 16 at BKSP – has been reported to the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM)," the Bangladesh Cricket Board said BCB said in a media release Thursday.
The cricket board, however, did not mention what the incident was.

"The technical committee of the CCDM held a virtual hearing Wednesday evening where Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi's Elias Sunny, Legends of Rupganj's Sabbir Rahman, Sheikh Jamal manager Sultan Mahmud and the match officials were present," it said.
"After an extensive hearing, the technical committee decided to hand Sabbir and Sultan a fine of Tk50,000 each. It also warned Sunny," the BCB said.
On Wednesday, Sabbir allegedly racially abused Sunny and threw stones at him during Sheikh Jamal's match against Old DOHS.
After receiving a complaint from the spinner, Sheikh Jamal submitted an official complaint against Sabbir to the CCDM.

Irfan guides Mohammedan to a 9-run win vs. Old DOHS
Right-handed batsman Irfan Sukkur smashed an unbeaten 68 off 48 balls to guide Mohammedan Sporting Club to their fifth win in Bangabandhu DPL Twenty20 Cricket League against Old DOHS Sports Club on Sunday.
Mohammedan lifted the rain-hit match by nine runs under DL Method at BKSP. It was their fifth win in eight encounters.
It was Mohammedan’s first game in this season without skipper Shakib Al Hasan who was banned for three matches by BCB for breaching Code of Conduct during another rain-affected match against Abahani on Friday.
DOHS won the toss and opted to bowl first. Mohammedan posted a challenging total of 154 for five in 20 overs thanks to wicket-keeper batsman Irfan hitting 68 with three fours and five sixes. Abdul Mazid contributed 29.
For DOHS, Rakibul Hasan took two wickets conceding 30 runs while Aliss Al Islam, Hamidul Islam and Asaduzzaman Payel bagged one wicket each.
Set a target of 155 runs to win DOHS could manage 115 for four in 16 overs before the rain struck. And due to the persistent rain and wet outfield, the match could not be resumed. And thus, Mohammedan won by 5 runs under the DL Method.
In the other games on Sunday morning, Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club beat Partex Sporting Club by five wickets riding on 71 off 57 by Fazle Mahmud.
Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club beat Legends of Rupganj by seven runs under the DL Method, with Shykat Ali and Nurul Hasan scored 43 and 44 not out respectively.

Hot favourites Abahani Ltd returned to a winning streak in the fifth round after a disappointing loss in the previous round. They came out victorious against a strong Gazi Group side on Tuesday at SBNCS, Mirpur.
Batting first, Gazi Group made 150-8 thanks to a 78-run opening stand between Mahedi Hasan (43) and top scorer Soumya Sarkar (67). But they couldn’t capitalize the platform set by the opening pair and eventually had to settle for a challenging total to defend. Batting first, Brothers Union scored 147/8 in 20 overs. RahatulFerdous made the highest 54 runs and Naeem Islam scored 34. Pacer Shahadat Hossain (2/26) was the most effective bowler for Partex.

Prime Bank Cricket Club reached the top of the DPL T20 2021 points table after beating Shinepukur Cricket Club by 3 wickets in their second-round match at Mirpur cricket ground.
Batting first, Shinepukur were bowled out for 119 runs in exact 20 overs. Off-spinner NayeemHasan and Monir Hossain were brilliant with the ball. The Player of the match winner Nayeem picked up 3 crucial wickets for 24 runs, while Monir gave away only 15 runs in his 4 overs and also bagged two wickets. Skipper TowhidHridoy (29) was the top scorer for Shinepukur.
Prime Bank reached the target with 3 balls in hand. Opener Tamim Iqbal made the highest 32 runs and RonyTalukdar contributed 26 runs as well. Tanvir Islam bowled superbly for Shinepukur, snatched 3 wickets for only 12 runs in his 4 overs spell.
Bottom Line
Following a one-day break due to severe weather, the T20 format Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League 2021 resumed on June 2. No match was held at BKSP because the fields were unfit for play. When there is minimal rain, the outfield becomes unsuitable for playing due to BKSP's lack of a systematic drainage system. Therefore, the BCB should pay close attention to this matter. Meanwhile, there is yet to be seen a run-fest contest in the DPL T20 2021. Hopefully, the tournament will become more competitive as the season progresses.

Mahmudullah, Mominul guide Gazi home
Bangladesh T20 captain Mahmudullah Riyad and Test captain Mominul Haque hit 50s in their second game of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division T20 Cricket League Tuesday to guide Gazi Group Cricketers home against Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club.
Mahmudullah-led Gazi Group won the toss and sent Sheikh Jamal to bat first, who posted 151 for seven in 20 overs.

Shykat Ali and Mohammad Ashraful added 69 runs in the first wicket stand at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. Shykat scored 33 while Ashraful posted 41 off 35 balls with four sixes.
Nasir Hossain and Ziaur Rahman also contributed well with the bat scoring 20 and 21 runs.
For Gazi Group, Mukidul Islam and Mahmudullah took two wickets each while Nasum Ahmed, Soumya Sarkar and Ariful Haque bagged one wicket each.
In reply, Gazi Group scored 156 for three in 18.5 overs to seal the game. Mominul and Mahmudullah added 97 runs in the third wicket stand which proved to be a match-winning stand for Gazi.
Mominul perished on 54 while Mahmudullah remained unbeaten for 62 off 51 balls.
In the first game of the day at the same venue, Prime DSC beat Khelaghar Samaj Kallyan Samity by 19 runs. Losing the toss, Prime DSC batted first and posted 149 for six in 20 overs.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Imran Uzzaman hit 40 off 17 balls with three fours and four sixes while Saif Hassan and Marshal Ayub scored 28 and 21. For Khelaghar, Khaled Ahmed and Masum Khan bagged two wickets each.
In reply, Khelaghar lost three wickets in 15 runs and could not recover from the early damage. Farhad Hossain and Rishad Hossain posted 33 and 37, but that was not enough for Khelaghar to avoid a defeat. For Prime DSC, Enamul Haque Jr, Rejaur Rahman Raja and Kamrul Islam took two wickets each.
