Speedboats collision in Kaptai lake: Bodies of 2 missing students recovered
The bodies of two students, who went missing after a collision between two speedboats in Kaptai lake on Friday, have been recovered.
The deceased were Liton Chakma, 20, and Elina Chakma, 20, residents of Baghaichhari and Borokol upazilas respectively and students of Higher Secondary Certificate level of Open University.
The body of Liton was recovered by fishermen early Sunday while and the body of Elina by fire service workers on Sunday morning.

Ariful Islam, officer-in-charge of Langadu police station, said they in association with the fire service men carried out search operation till Saturday evening since Friday afternoon but failed.
On Friday afternoon, seven people were injured and two others went missing in a head-on collision between a passenger carrying speedboat and a goods-laden boat in Kaptai Lake.

The passenger carrying boat was heading towards Langadu upazila from Rangamati Sadar.
Seven out of total nine passengers of the boat managed to swim ashore while the reset went missing.

One dies, 3 go missing as speedboat sinks in Bay
A 12-year-old girl died and three people went missing when a speedboat sank in the Bay of Bengal during a storm in Sandwip of Chattogram district on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Anika while those who went missing were identified as –Adifa, Aliva and Saikat.

The speedboat with 20 passengers sank in the sea during storm while heading towards Guptachara ghat in Sandwip from Kumira in Sitakunda, said Zonal commander of Coast Guard East Zone, Captain Kazi Shah Alam.
Coast Guard members recovered Anika’s body after the accident.
Local people managed to rescue 16 other passengers of the speedboat.

Speedboat accident in Padma: Owners among 4 sued
A case has been filed against four people including owners of the speedboat, in connection with the speedboat capsize in the Padma River that claimed 26 lives in Madaripur's Shibchar upazila on Monday.
Sub-inspector of Char Janajat River Police Lokman Hossain filed the case at 12:30 am, said Miraz Hossain, officer-in-charge of Shibchar Police Station, Tuesday.
Apart from speedboat owners Chandu Mia and Jahirul Islam, its driver Shah Alam and leaseholder of the Shimulia ghat Shah Alam have been made accused in the case.
OC Miraz Hossain said none of the four accused has been arrested yet.

“The speedboat driver is now taking treatment under police custody as he was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital from Faridpur Medical College in critical condition,” said the OC.
Inspector of Char Janajat river police check post, Abdul Rajjak said efforts are continuing to arrest all the accused.
Earlier, on Monday, at least 26 people died when the Banglabazar-bound speedboat from Shimulia ferry ghat capsized in the river after a collision with a sand-laden bulk carrier near Kathalbari ferry ghat in Shibchar.
Twenty-six bodies were retrieved from the river with the help of divers from local Fire Service and Civil Defence, police and Coast Guard members.

A six-member committee was formed on Monday to investigate the speedboat accident.
The local administration formed the probe body after the accident, Mohammad Raihan, Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters Station Officer (Media cell), told UNB on Monday.

Speedboat owner among 4 booked over accident in Padma
Four persons have been booked in connection with the speedboat accident in the Padma river that claimed 26 lives in Madaripur's Shibchar upazila on Monday, police said Tuesday.
Miraz Hossain, officer-in-charge of Shibchar Police Station, said an FIR was filed against the four, including the speedboat owner, on a complaint lodged by the sub-inspector of River Police, Lokman, on Monday night.

Apart from speedboat owner Chandu Molla, its driver Shah Alam and two others, including a man named Rezaul Khan, have been booked.

A six-member committee was formed on Monday to investigate the speedboat capsize in the Padma River that claimed the lives of 26 people in Shibchar upazila of Madaripur district.

Earlier in the morning, at least 26 people died when a speedboat sank in the Padma River in Shibchar upazila.

The Banglabazar-bound speedboat from Shimulia Ferry Ghat capsized in the river after a collision with a sand-laden bulkhead.
On information, fire service divers from Shibchar and Jajira fire stations rushed to the spot and conducted the rescue operation.
Twenty-six bodies were retrieved from the river with the help of divers from local Fire Service and Civil Defence, police and Coast Guard members.
