N’ganj factory fire under control
A fire that broke out in a factory at Meghna Industrial area in Sonargaon upazila of Narayanganj Monday morning has been brought under control.
The fire broke out in the three-storey building of Meghna Foil Printing and Packaging factory around 7:40 am, said Md Shahjahan Shikdar, Deputy assistant director (media cell) of Fire Service and Civil Defense.

On information, 14 units of fire tenders rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control around 11:20am, said Director General of the Fire Service and Civil Defense Brigadier General Md Main Uddin.
One person was rescued from the factory with minor injuries, he added.
The origin of the fire is yet to be known, he said.

Fire at Ctg poultry feed godown under control
A fire that broke out in a poultry feed godown in City Gate area of the port city on Sunday morning has been brought under control.
The fire started around 9 am at the storehouse beside Jabed Steel Mill under Abar Shah police station area.
Six units of firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control after an hour of hectic effort, said Newton Dash, DeputyAssistant Director of Agrabad Fire Station.

Fortunately no one sustained injuries in the fire but a huge amount of poultry feed was damaged, he said.
The origin of the fire and the extent of loss will be known after an investigation, he said.

Fire at Kamrangirchar polythene factory under control
A fire broke that out in a polythene manufacturing factory at Koylar Ghat in the city’s Kamrangirchar on Thursday was brought under control.
The fire started around 4:30 pm.

Four firefighting units immediately rushed to the spot and managed to control the flames after one and half an hour, said Md Shahjahan Shikdar, Deputy assistant director (media cell) of Fire Service and Civil Defence.
The origin of the fire is yet to be known, he said.
No casualties were reported.

Kalyanpur slum fire under control
A fire that broke out at the capital's Kalyanpur slum on Sunday was completely doused after two hours.
The blaze started around 8:50 pm at the number 9 slum near Notun Bazar, said Md Shahjahan Shikdar, Deputy assistant director (media cell) of Fire Service and Civil Defence.

Fourteen firefighting units managed to douse the flames around 11:15 pm, he said.
No casualties were reported yet ant the cause of fire can be identified after an investigation, he added.

Fulbaria market fire under control
A fire broke that broke out at City Plaza market in Fulbaria area of the capital on Sunday morning has been brought under control. According to fire service, the fire started on the second floor of the market at around 4.16 am.

Dhaka furniture factory fire 'under control'
A fire that broke out at a furniture factory in the North Badda area of Dhaka on Friday has been brought under control, officials said.

The fire started at 11.54am in the factory and it took three firefighting units an hour to bring the flames under control, said senior fire department officer Shahjahan Sikder.
Fortunately, no casualties have been reported. "A probe has been ordered to ascertain the exact cause of the fire," he added.

Small fire at BSCIC complex in Mirpur brought under control
A fire broke out at the eight-storey BSCIC Electronics Complex building in the city's Mirpur 11 on Tuesday night.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported, said fire service sources.
On information, two units of Mirpur Fire Service reached the spot at 7.52 pm.

Shahjahan Sikder, deputy assistant director (media cell) of Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters said, after almost half an hour of effort they managed to douse the fire at 8.25 pm.
“We are initially suspecting a loss of Tk 50,000,” he said.

Sundarbans fire finally under control; probe body formed
The fire, which had raged through Daser Bharani under Sharankhola Range of the Sundarbans East Forest Division for nearly 24 hours since Monday morning, was finally brought under control on Wednesday.
Divisional forest officer (DFO) Mohammad Belayet Hossain said, “The fire is now under control …firefighting units have been working since Tuesday morning to douse the blaze. Anyway, the extent of losses caused by the fire are negligible.”
Abdus Sattar, an officer at Sharankhola Fire Service and Civil Defence, said, “We’ve started spraying water around 10:30 am and three units of firefighters from Sharankhola, Mongla and Bagerhat have been working to fully douse the flame.”
The firefighters are taking water from the Morabhola River, two kilometers away from the fire spot.

Meanwhile, the Forest Department formed a three-member probe body with Mohammad Joynal, the chief conservator of forest of the Sharankhola Range, as its head to probe the fire incident.
The fire broke out at Daser Bharani of the Sundarbans East Forest Division on Monday morning.
According to officer-in-charge of Sharankhola Fire Service Station Abdus Sattar, "The fire service team had to struggle a lot to control the fire for lack of water. So, we decided to install a 2-km pipeline connecting the site of fire and the Morabhola River, and finally we did it.”
On February 8 this year, another fire at Dhansagar station under Chandpai range of the Sundarbans East Division had burnt down at least four decimals of forestland.
