Heat wave may sweep Bangladesh during Eid celebrations
People in parts of Bangladesh may have to endure extreme heat rather than comfort during tomorrow’s Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.
“Mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over Dhaka, Rajshahi and Khulna divisions and Moulvibazar, Rangamati, Barishal & Patukhali districts and it may abate some places,” said a Met office bulletin on Sunday.

Weather may remain dry with temporary partly cloudy sky over the country, it said.
Day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may rise slightly over the country.
Country’s highest temperature was recoded at 37.2 Degree Celsius in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna.

Shilpakala Academy to hold Eid celebrations 1st time ever
Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) has announced on Thursday that for the first time ever, it is set to organise an Eid celebration, embracing the country’s diverse cultural heritage.
The academy will host the programme titled 'Elo Khushir Eid' at its Nandan Moncho on March 30 from 7 pm onwards, celebrating the 'Chand Raat' (night before the Eid day).
BSA has shared the poster image of the event with the media and is yet to reveal the details of the event; however, Cultural Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki shared the announcement image on social media on Thursday, making the announcement of the event.
"For the first time, Shilpakala Academy is hosting an Eid celebration. Bangladesh is a land of many languages, beliefs, and religions," Farooki wrote on his Facebook.
"Everything in the diverse society we live in is a part of our culture. Bangladesh will celebrate it all! The politics of division are no longer welcome here," the cultural adviser wrote.
CA Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam and others have also shared the announcement image, and netizens on social platforms have been applauding the decision made by BSA for the first time ever.

Security beefed up in Dhaka for Eid celebrations
Authorities have beefed up security in the densely populated metropolis to ensure smooth celebrations of the holy Eid-ul-Azha on Sunday.
Additional security measures have been taken to avoid any untoward situation in the capital on Eid day, said additional director general of Rab, Colonel Md Quamrul Hasan.

“Though we don't have any specific intelligence input of any possible terror attack on the occasion of Eid, we are not taking any chance,,” he said.
"Our men also inspected the overall security measures at National Eidgah Maidan on Saturday. We are also relying on intelligence network," the Rab officer said.

Rain likely to dampen Eid celebrations
Bangladesh Metorological Department forecast rain in different areas across the country on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of Muslims.
“ On Tuesday, the day of Eid-ul-Fitr, showers are likely to occur more or less everywhere across the country ,” said Hafizur Rahman, a meteorologist of Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
In the next 24 hours rain or thundershowers with intense lightning flashes and temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram & Sylhet divisions with hails at isolated places, said BMD in a bulletin.

BMD forecast says day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country during the time.
The maximum temperature in the country was recorded at 36.6 °C at Mongla on Sunday.

Rain may dampen Eid celebrations
The Met Office has forecast light to moderate rain all over the country during the day of Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of Muslims.
Bangladesh Meteorological Department made the forecast with an outlook for the subsequent two days, following the next 24 hours, commencing 6pm Tuesday.
“Light to moderate rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty/squally wind is likely to occur at many places over Dhaka, Mymensingh, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions,” it said.

Some parts of the country might see moderately heavy to heavy falls in the next 24 hours, the Met Office said.
Its forecast said rain and thunder shower activities may decrease in the next five days.
The National Moon Sighting Committee will meet on Wednesday evening to fix the date of Eid-ul-Fitr upon sighting of Shawwal moon.

Meanwhile, in Saudi Arabia Eid will be observed on May 13, according to astronomical calculations. This is the first time Saudi announces the date of the Islamic calendar using astronomic technology rather than the traditional visual sighting of the moon.
