Alarming Dengue surge: 264 more hospitalised in 24 hrs
Amid a growing concern over spike in Dengue cases, 264 new patients were hospitalized across the country in the last 24 hours till Tuesday morning.
Of the new dengue cases, 248 were reported in Dhaka while 16 were from outside the capital, said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

According to the (DGHS), 1072 patients are currently receiving treatment at different hospitals across the country.
A vast majority of the dengue patients are from Dhaka as only 47 of them were reported being treated in hospitals outside the capital.
Some 3,446 patients have been admitted to different hospitals with dengue since January and 2,370 of them have been released after they recovered.
The outbreak of dengue fever has sparked new worries as the country’s health services are already overburdened with increasing Covid cases and fatalities.
To eradicate dengue larvae in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) areas a control room was opened from Monday.

On Monday, Dhaka South City Corporation and Dhaka North City Corporation in separate drives filed 27 cases and fined different houses and establishments Tk 8.57 lakh for breeding Aedes larvae in the city.
Some 11 mobile courts conducted the drives in Green Road, New Eskaton, Malibagh Bazar, Phool Bagh, West Islambagh, Chawkbazar, Dhalpur, Golapbag, Amulia, Dogar, Kadamtali, South Banasree areas of the city.
The DGHS reported 1,193 dengue cases and three confirmed dengue-related deaths in 2020.
According to official statistics, 101,354 dengue cases and 179 deaths were recorded in Bangladesh in 2019.

Dengue fever was first reported in Bangladesh in 2000, claiming 93 lives that year. In the years that followed, the country learned to deal with the disease much better.
The fatalities had almost fallen to zero at one stage, before surging again in 2018, leading to the severe outbreak the following year.

143 more dengue cases reported in 24 hrs
Health authorities reported 143 new dengue cases in the last 24 hours till Tuesday morning amid a spike in the mosquito-borne disease.
Bangladesh has been seeing over 100 dengue patients for the last four days adding worries to the country’s health services, already overburdened with growing Covid cases and fatalities.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 509 patients are receiving treatment at different hospitals in the capital, while just nine patients were listed outside Dhaka.
Some 1,945 patients have been admitted to different hospitals with dengue since January - 1,433 of them have been released after recovery.
DGHS spokesman and line director Dr. Nazmul Islam suggested testing for dengue as well as corona if someone has high temperature.
He also asked to take medicine on the advice of a registered doctor only in case of treatment. If necessary, one could take treatment by contacting the hotline number of DGHS.

Bangladesh reports 70 more new dengue cases in 24 hrs
Authorities reported 70 more dengue cases in 24 hours until Monday morning amid a surge in the mosquito-borne disease.
Some 209 patients diagnosed with dengue are receiving treatment at different government and private hospitals across the country as of Monday morning, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of them, one patient is receiving treatment at a hospital outside Dhaka.
Some 796 patients have been admitted to different hospitals with dengue since January and 587 of them have been released after recovery.
The recent spike in dengue cases has added to the worries as the country continues to grapple with the devastating second wave of the coronavirus pandemic.
Mobile court drives will be conducted in the two city corporations of capital Dhaka soon in an effort to control any possible dengue outbreak, Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) Minister Md Tajul Islam told UNB.

“Legal action will be taken against those if anyone is found responsible for breeding Aedes mosquitoes and breaching government directives through fine and other punishment, no matter whether the establishments are owned by the government or not. You’ve no right to harm the lives and property of people,” Tajul warned.

45 dengue patients undergoing treatment at Dhaka hospitals: DGHS
Amid an alarming spike in coronavirus deaths and infections, Bangladesh is also seeing a rise in mosquito-borne dengue in the current month.
Forty five dengue patients are currently receiving treatment at 41 government and private hospitals in Dhaka. No report of hospitalization with dengue came from other districts.

Twelve dengue patients were admitted to different hospital in Dhaka in the last 24 hours until Wednesday morning, according to a handout of the Directorate General of Health Services(DGHS).
A total of 247 patients have been admitted to different hospitals with dengue since January and of them, 202 patients recovered.

18 dengue patients undergoing treatment at Dhaka hospitals: DGHS
Eighteen dengue patients are receiving treatment at different hospitals in Dhaka until Thursday morning as the number of the mosquito- borne disease started to rise in the country.
Five new cases of dengue have been reported in the past 24 hours, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in a media release.

29 new dengue patients hospitalised in 24 hrs
Twenty-nine new dengue patients were admitted to different hospitals across the country in the last 24 hours till 8am on Friday.
Sixteen of them were hospitalised in Dhaka, the Directorate General of Health Services said in its regular update.
It said 1,01,174 people have been hospitalised with dengue in the country since January. Of those who were hospitalised, 1,00,731 made full recovery, the DGHS said.
Currently, 177 patients, including 120 in the capital, are being treated at different hospitals.
The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research has received 266 reports of dengue-related deaths. It has reviewed 223 of them and confirmed the deaths of 141.
