Sharifi's hattrick guides Cops to third win of BPL 2022
A brilliant hattrick by Afghan forward Amiruddin Sharifi guided Bangladesh Police FC to their 3rd victory of the season in football's top flight league competition, the 12-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), as they outplayed newcomers Swadhinata KS by 4-2 goals on Monday.
Police FC now sit pretty in 5th spot on the BPL table, just a point behind 4th-placed Ctg Abahani.
Before the Sharifi show in the second half, German attacking midfielder Adil Kouskous gave Police FC the lead scoring the first goal in the 26th minute at Muktijoddha Smriti Stadium in Rajshahi this afternoon. It remained 1-0 going into the break, but Sharifi struck his first just 4 minutes after the resumption, doubling his team's advantage.
Polish attacking midfielder Rahal Zaborowski in the 52nd minute pulled one back for Swadhinota, igniting hopes of a comeback but then Sharifi's exploits scoring in the 60th and 79th minutes put the result beyond doubt. An 81st minute strike by Swadhinota's Bosnian striker Nedo Turkovic was little more than consolation.
