BGB says it seized crystal meth, yaba worth Tk 11.46 crore in Teknaf
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Friday claimed to have seized drugs worth nearly Tk 11.46 crore in Cox’s Bazar’s Teknaf upazila.
Based on a tip-off, a patrol team of BGB intercepted a boat carrying a suspected smuggler in the Naf river of Teknaf upazila at 6:50 pm while he was heading towards the Beribadh area, said Lt Col Sheikh Khalid Md Iftekhar, Commander of BGB-2 battalion.
At one stage, the BGB challenged the boat.

Sensing danger, the man on the boat escaped but the BGB men seized a bag containing 2.11kg of crystal meth and 30,000 Yaba tablets worth Tk 11.46 crore, he said.

Smuggled goods worth Tk 121.58 cr seized in September: BGB
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized smuggled goods, arms, ammunition and drugs worth Tk 121.58 crore across the country in September.
The seized drugs include 8,31,594 Yaba pills, 3.141 Kg crystal meth, 19,797 bottles of phensidyl, 15,202 bottles of foreign liquor, 795 liters of local liquor, 2,680 cans of beer, 2,206 kg cannabis, 2.16 kg heroin, 21,098 injections, 6,620 Eskuf syrups, 755 bottles of MkDil/Cofidil, 2,85,267 Anegra/Senegra tablets, 9,61,524 different types of medicines and 97,350 tablets, said a BGB media release on Sunday.
Other smuggled items include 31.851 kg gold, 8.400 kg silver, 1,83,470 cosmetics, 1,063 imitation jewelries, 19,956 sarees, 2,930 three-piece/shirt-piece/bed-sheet/blankets, 2,105 readymade garments, 2,347 cft timber, 4,502 kg of tea leaves, 40,850 kg of coal, 5 touch stone made statues, 491 kg of pesticides, 56 motorcycles, 5 private cars/microbuses, 10 pickup vans, 24 CNG/battery autorickshaws.

Seized arms include three pistols, one revolver, seven guns, 16 rounds of ammunition, three magazines and 588 kg explosive like substance.
Meanwhile, BGB arrested 223 smugglers, 86 Bangladeshi nationals and four Indian nationals who tried to cross the border illegally.

BGB seizes drugs worth Tk 12 crore in Cox's Bazar
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Saturday claimed to have seized banned drugs worth nearly Tk 12 crore from Cox’s Bazar’s Teknaf upazila.
Acting on a tip off, a special patrol team of BGB conducted a drive in Teknaf’s Jaliapara area early this morning.
"The team seized a plastic bag containing 2.1kg of Ice and 30,000 pieces of Yaba worth Tk 11.65 crore from a boat anchored on the banks of the Naf river at 3am," said Lt Colonel Sheikh Khalid Md Iftekhar, Commander of BGB’s Teknaf battalion.

However, no one has been detained in connection with the seizure, he added.

BGB seizes drugs worth Tk 7 crore in Cox’s Bazar
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) claimed to have seized over 1kg of Ice and 50,000 pieces of Yaba worth nearly TK 7 crore at the Bangladesh-Myanmar border in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar district early on Saturday.
Tipped off, a team of BGB’s Teknaf battalion challenged two men coming from Myanmar in the Noapara Mochoni Bazar area of the upazila around 3.45am, said Commander of Teknaf Battalion-2, Lt Colonel Sheikh Khalid Mohammad Iftekhar.
The alleged smugglers fled the scene immediately, leaving the drugs behind.
Later, the BGB men spotted a plastic bag from the spot and found 1.070 kg of crystal meth and 50,000 pieces of Yaba worth Tk 6.85 crore inside it.

However, the BGB men couldn’t detain anyone during the drive.

BGB seizes USD 80,000 from Chuadanga border
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members seized USD 80,000 from Fulbari border in Damurhuda upazila of Chuadanga district Wednesday morning while those were being smuggled to India.
However, BGB couldn’t detain the suspected smuggler who was carrying the foreign currency.
The information was revealed at a press briefing at 6 BGB Headquarters in the afternoon.
According to BGB, upon secret information, they conducted a drive along Fulbari border and found a person trying to cross the border with a bag through pillar No 85.
The person left the bag and fled when BGB members chased him.

The BGB men found eight bundles of US dollars amounting to USD 80,000 inside the bag.
Lieutenant Colonel Shah Md Ishtiak, Director of BGB Chuadanga-6, said a case was filed with Darshana Police Station in this regard.
“Primarily, we’re suspected that the foreign currency was being smuggled from Bangladesh to India,” said Ishtiaque.

Coast Guard seizes 32k yaba, Tk 17-cr worth current nets around St Martin's
Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) on Friday claimed that they have seized 32,000 yaba pills and contraband current nets worth Tk 105 Crore from the Bay near St Martin's island in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar.
Coast Guard Headquarters Media Officer Lt Commander Khandaker Munif Taqi said BCG Station at Teknaf conducted special simultaneous drives in the Bay of Bengal area adjacent to Cheradwip in St Martin on Thursday night.
During the drive led by Station Commander Lieutenant Commander Ashiq Ahmed, a boat was seen entering the Bangladesh territory from the border of Myanmar.
Coast Guard members signaled the boat to stop as its movements seemed suspicious. Sensing the presence of the Coast Guard, the boat dropped a few plastic sacks into the sea water and quickly fled to the Myanmar border.

The bag was later searched and 32,000 pieces of yaba tablets and 47,60,000 metre long current nets worth Tk 17.62 were seized in an abandoned condition.
The seized yaba tablets and current nets were handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station for further legal action, said the official.

Customs seizes large consignment of liquor from Chattogram port
The customs seized one large consignment of foreign liquors from Chattogram port Sunday as the goods were imported under false declaration and through tax evasion.
The consignment of liquor was brought to Bangladesh under the declaration of yarn import from China by faking import permission and using the name of Dong Jin Industrial of Nilphamari's Uttara Export Processing Zone, Saiful Haque, deputy commissioner of Chattogram Customs House, said.
He added: "The seized goods are being counted."
Earlier, the customs seized two large consignments of foreign liquors from Sonargaon and Narayanganj in the early hours of Saturday. The goods were also imported through Chattogram port under false declaration and through tax evasion.

7 held as 119 dead chickens seized from restaurant near Dhaka airport
A team of Airport Armed Police Battalion (APBn) seized 119 dead chickens from a restaurant near the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Saturday afternoon.
Seven people including the restaurant's manager, cooks and supplier of the chickens were arrested, additional superintendent of Airport Armed Police Ziaul Hoque told UNB.
"A team led by an executive magistrate conducted a drive at ‘Airport Restaurant’ near the Airport Customs House at 2:30 pm and seized the dead chickens,” he said.

He added that legal action will be taken against the arrestees.

Court orders seizure of Golden Monir’s bank accounts
A Dhaka court on Tuesday ordered the seizure of 170 bank accounts of three people, including Monir Hossain alias Golden Monir in connection with a case with money laundering.
The other two people are Sirajganj Sadar Upazila Chairman Riaz Uddin and Dhaka North City Corporation Ward No. 44 Councillor Shafiqul Islam alias Shafiq.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge KM Imrul Kayes passed the order after the investigating officer of the case, CID Inspector of Police Mohammad Chadek Ali, applied for the account seizures of these three people.
On May 11, CID inspector Ibrahim Hossain filed the case against 10 people including Raushan Akter, wife of Golden Monir and his son Rafi Hossain.

On November 20, 2020, RAB surrounded Monir's house in capital’s Badda. During the eight-hour operation till noon, almost 7 Kg gold jewelry, foreign pistols, liquor, huge amounts of foriegn currency from 10 countries and Tk 1.9 crore cash were seized from the house.
Last year on December 10, Golden Monir was sent to jail after being remanded for 27 days in three separate cases under the Arms, special powers and narcotics law.
