BPL Football: Both fixtures end goalless on Saturday
Both the 5th round matches of the 10-team ABG Bashundhara Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football on Saturday (January 27) ended in goalless draws at two separate venues across the country.
Bangladesh Police FC shared points with old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society in a goalless affairs at the Shaheed Bir Shreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj Saturday afternoon.
BPL Football: Holders Bashundhara Kings to play Dhaka Abahani Ltd in a titan battle on Friday
In the day's other match, Sheikh Russel KC split points with Fortis FC also in a goalless draw at their home venue --Bashundhara Kings Arena--Saturday afternoon.
On completion of the day's 5th round matches, Police FC advanced to the 3rd slot in the league table toppling Dhaka Abahani Ltd by virtue of better goal difference, despite both the teams secured seven points each.
Federation Cup Football: Sheikh Jamal DC assure knock out stage outplaying Rahmatganj MFS 4-1
Defending champions Bashundhara Kings comfortably dominated the league table with all win-record securing full 15 points, Federation Cup champions Dhaka Mohammedan SC maintained at the 2nd slot securing eleven points while Dhaka Abahani Ltd went down to the 4th slot also with seven points.
Three teams --Rahmatganj MFS, Fortis FC and Sheikh Russel KC-- collected five points each and shared the 6th, 7th and 8th places respectively due to goal differences.
The 6th round matches will begin on next Friday (February 2)
BPL Football: Former champions Dhaka Abahani, Dhaka Mohammedan win
Dhaka Abahani Ltd will face Police FC at 3 pm at the Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh while Sheikh Russel KC will play Rahmatganj MFS at the Bashundhara Kings Arena here, also at 3 pm next Friday.

BPL Football: Dhaka Abahani beat Rahmatganj 2-1 to get first win
Dhaka Abahani beat Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society 2-1 at the Birshreshtha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj Saturday to get their first win in two matches of the eleven-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football.
Former champions Dhaka Abahani made a frustrating start to the league after playing out a 1-1 draw with newcomers Fortis SC in their opening match.
In the day's match, Costa Rican player Daniel Colindres put The Sky Blue Brigade ahead in the 10th minute (1-0). Brazilian forward Michael Morais equalised for Old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj in the 60th minute (1-1).
Abahani midfielder Meraj Hossain Opi scored the match-winning goal in the 73rd minute (2-1).
Midfielder Sohel Rana was sent off in the 45th minute, putting The Sky Blue Brigade down to 10 men. Rahmatganj forward Noyan Mia was also sent off in the 63rd minute.

In the day's other match, Dhaka Mohammedan played out a goalless draw with Bangladesh Police at the Rafique Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh in the afternoon.
Also, Mohammedan, who made a good start to the BPL beating Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad 2-0 in their first match, lost an important point against Police, who also made a good start upsetting Sheikh Russel 2-1 in their first match.
After the day's matches, Mohammedan, Abahani and Police shared the second slot in the league table with Sheikh Jamal, securing four points each from two matches.
Champions Bashundhara Kings dominated the league securing six points from two matches.

Fed Cup: Kings, Rahmatganj lock horns in final Sunday for maiden title
Bashundhara Kings will play Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society in the final of the TVS 31st Federation Cup Football Tournament’2020 on Sunday with both of them eying their maiden title.
The final match will kick off at 4pm at the Bangabandhu National Stadium here.
Star-studded Bashundhara Kings reached the final eliminating newcomer Bangladesh Police Football Club by 3-0 goals in the 2nd semifinal on Friday.
The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) champions Kings started mission in the season’s curtain-raiser soccer meet aiming to bag their maiden Fed Cup title.
After beating Brothers Union Limited by 1-0 goal in the first group match, Kings suffered a shocking 0-2 goals defeat against Chittagong Abahani Limited in the 2nd match.
But, Kings bounced back in the race eliminating Group D champions Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra by 4-1 goals in a nail-biting tie-breaker as the 4th and last quarterfinal between them was locked in 1-1 goals in stipulated 90-minute time and also in the extra session.
Ahead of the final, Bashundhara Kings President Imrul Hasan said his side is hungry to secure their first Fed Cup title.
“All the booters are motivated and well-prepared for the final. They’re hungry for their first-ever title. We finished runners-up last year, we missed the target. But, we won’t want to make any mistake this year. The title is ours,” said Bashundhara Kings president.
Asked about their shocking defeat against Ctg Abahani, Imrul said, “We’re getting ready for the upcoming AFC Cup. So, we’ve made several experiments in the ongoing meet. We didn’t take any risk in the semifinal. We’re taking the final seriously.”
On the other hand, giant-killer Rahmatganj MFS maintained their unbeaten run to reach the Fed Cup final for the first time eliminating 10-time Fed Cup Champions Dhaka Mohammedan SC by 1-0 goal in the first semifinal on Thursday last.
The old Dhaka outfit booked a seat for the semifinals upsetting 11-time champions Dhaka Abahani Limited by 4-3 goals in the tie-breaker as their first quarterfinal between them ended in 1-1 draw in the extra-time after goalless in stipulated period last Monday last.
