Following an eventful one-month, Dhallywood’s much-talked-about actress Pori Moni has recently returned to work, to complete her remaining film projects and start shooting for her newly-signed films. Last Tuesday and Wednesday, Pori Moni - real name Shamsunnahar Smrity - attended a dubbing session in Dhaka for director Iftekhar Shuvo's forthcoming film “Mukhosh”, which received government funding. Starring as Sohana Sabrin, a crime reporter in her role opposite Ziaul Roshan, the actress has also confirmed the matter on her social media. Read: A day after bail, Pori Moni walks out of jail She is also scheduled to start shooting for the highly anticipated film “Pritilata”, based on the life of Pritilata Waddedar, who was a Bengali revolutionary nationalist from the Indian subcontinent who was influential in the Indian independence movement. Rashid Palash, director of the film has informed the media that the shooting will begin after October 24th, the birthday of Pori Moni. On August 31, Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court judge KM Imrul Kayes granted Pori Moni’s release on a Tk 20,000 bail bond in the drugs case, filed under the Narcotics Control Act. A case was filed against the actress for illegal possession of foreign liquor. She was then sent to the Kashimpur jail and had been remanded thrice for interrogation by the police.

A three-member committee has been formed to investigate the "affair" between Golam Saklain Shithil, additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Detective Branch (DB), and Dhallywood actress Pori Moni. The Police Headquarters confirmed this to UNB Sunday night. Police Headquarters Additional Deputy Inspector General (Training) Mia Masud Karim will lead the committee. The two other members are Hamida Parveen, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Women Support and Investigation Centre, and Rumana Akter, special superintendent (forensic) of the Criminal Investigation Division. The committee has been asked to submit its report within 15 working days. Saklain was introduced to Pori Moni in June this year when he was a supervising officer of a case filed with Airport Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act against businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmood. According to media reports, Saklain had been maintaining a relationship with Pori Moni secretly. But the matter came to light when members of Rapid Action Battalion detained Pori Moni from her Banani flat on August 4. They seized foreign liquor and narcotics from there. Later, a case was filed with Banani Police station against her the following day. Read: Pori Moni placed on 4-day remand CCTV footage, which was leaked recently, showed that Pori Moni went to the official flat of Saklain in Rajarbagh police officers' residential area on the morning of August 1 and came out after around 18 hours. Several media ran reports about their alleged relationship on Friday. Following the reports, ADC Saklain was relieved from his duty as ADC DB Gulshan Division on Saturday morning and was transferred to the Public Order Management West in the afternoon.

Film actress Pori Moni and her associate Nazrul Islam Raj were the ringleaders of an organised crime gang, said Commander Khandaker Al Moin, director of Legal and Media Wing of Rab, on Thursday. He came up with the remarks while briefing reporters about Pori Moni’s arrest at its headquarters in the afternoon. They carried out their activities in different posh areas of the capital, including Gulshan, Baridhara and Banani, targeting people from the affluent section of society and had been selling drugs in the name of holding parties or DJ parties. “Pori Moni had a minibar at her home and it was often used as a venue for such parties,” said Rab Commander Moin. A case was filed against Dhallywood actress Pori Moni under the Narcotics Control Act on Thursday following her detention on Wednesday. Two more cases -- one under the Narcotics Control Act and another under the Pornography Control Act—were filed against her associate Nazrul Islam Raj, owner of Raj Multimedia. On Tuesday night, Rab arrested Sharful Hasan alias Mishu Hasan ,31, and his accomplice Md Masudul Islam alias Jishan, 39, along with firearms and huge stash of contraband items from Bashundhara Residential Area, he said.

Popular Dhallywood actress Pori Moni has praised the police for what she called 'magic' in apprehending those she accused of attempted rape and murder. “The role of the police in arresting the perpetrators was like magic. I never thought they would be arrested so soon,” said Pori, real name Shamsunnahar Smriti, in remarks to journalists outside the Detective Branch of police office Tuesday. “Now I believe that I will get justice, and the accused will be punished through a fair trial,” she added, looking much more buoyed than the distressed, helpless woman who appeared before the media on Sunday, and before any arrests were made on Monday. That's why I repeatedly wanted to reach out to him,” the starlet also said. She seemed to backtrack somewhat from her initial grievance of the law enforcers not being cooperative, at least when she went to file a case at the Banani police station, right after the incident.  Asked about going to Banani police station under the influence of alcohol, he said, "I was forced to drink alcohol." We have arrested the accused with lightning speed. As she has already said, the role of the police was like magic.” “We will do our best to bring justice in this case,” he added. The previous day, on her verified Facebook page, she had posted a status seeking justice from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, claiming that someone or some people had attempted to rape and kill her at the Uttara Boating Club, in an incident four days earlier, that is June 9th. The status went viral in no time, and it was followed by a dramatic midnight press conference from her residence that was widely broadcast.
