Top Gaming Laptops Launched in 2024
.
The Razer Blade 16
The Razer Blade 16, launched on 8th January 2024, is a luxurious gaming laptop boasting a QHD+ 240Hz OLED display or an optional dual-mode mini LED panel for versatile visuals. Powered by Intel's 14th Gen i9-14900HX CPU and Nvidia RTX 4090, it delivers impressive gaming performance, although competitors like Lenovo’s Legion 9i Gen 8 outshine it in raw power.
With up to 96GB RAM and 8TB storage, it excels in multitasking but runs hot under heavy load despite its vapor chamber cooling. Battery life, improved over its 2023 predecessor, supports moderate portability. A superior touchpad and FHD webcam complement the premium build, but its pricing remains prohibitive.

MSI Titan 18 HX
The MSI Titan 18 HX, first released in January 2024, is an apex desktop replacement laptop crafted for users who demand unrivaled power and performance. Featuring an 18-inch 4K UHD+ mini-LED display with stunning brightness and color accuracy, Intel’s Core i9-14900HX processor, Nvidia RTX 4090 GPU, 128GB of RAM, and 4TB SSD storage, this machine delivers industry-leading capabilities.
Gaming and professional performance are unparalleled, comfortably exceeding 100 fps at 1080p ultra settings, though achieving 4K gaming at such levels requires DLSS. While its $5,399 price tag and bulkiness make it impractical for most, the Titan 18 HX is a marvel of engineering, suited for those who prioritize uncompromising capability and are willing to invest in the ultimate mobile computing experience.
Alienware m18 R2
The Alienware m18 R2, launched on 11th January 2024, brings incremental yet valuable upgrades to an already robust gaming laptop, with Intel's 14th Gen HX processors leading the charge. While it shares the same chassis as its predecessor, it ups the ante in processing power, delivering top-tier performance for gaming and multitasking. However, this machine is undeniably hefty at 8.9 pounds, outclassed in weight by competitors like the MSI Titan 18 HX and Asus ROG Strix Scar 18, which are lighter yet bulkier.

Display options include a vibrant QHD+ 165Hz screen or an FHD+ 480Hz panel, catering to both immersive and competitive gamers. While the visuals are sharp, the screen’s limited brightness (300 nits) might be underwhelming for some.
The Cherry MX mechanical keyboard elevates tactile satisfaction, and the port selection is generous, supporting high-performance workflows. Despite its strengths, the m18 R2 doesn’t dominate its category, as thicker rivals like the Titan 18 HX maximize thermal performance and raw power., ideal for users prioritizing design and balanced performance over outright power or portability.
Asus ROG Zephyrus G14
The latest model of Asus ROG Zephyrus G14, launched in February 2024, has come up as a compact gaming powerhouse, boasting a sharp 2880x1800 OLED 120Hz G-Sync display, a Ryzen 9 8945HS CPU, and RTX 4070 GPU. It outshines its 2023 predecessor with better thermals and superior performance. It surpasses competitors like Lenovo Legion Slim 5 Gen 8 (cheaper but similar gaming speeds) and Alienware x14 R2 (slightly pricier).

Battery life leads its class, lasting a full day of mixed-use, while its upgraded cooling keeps fan noise manageable. The camera quality, though clear, struggles in low light. Overall, it remains an elite portable gaming choice.
Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 9
The Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 9, released in February 2024, sets a high standard in gaming laptops with its Intel Core i9-14900HX processor, 32GB DDR5 memory, and RTX 4080 GPU, delivering top-tier gaming performance at competitive pricing. Its 16-inch, 240Hz, 1600p IPS display offers vivid visuals, rivaling pricier Mini-LED options.
Compared to its 2023 predecessor, the Gen 9 boasts better cooling, battery life (8+ hours), and faster SSDs, while lacking Thunderbolt 4 and biometrics. Competitors like the Asus ROG Strix Scar 16 and Alienware m16 trail in performance despite similar hardware. Though heavy and bulky, this powerhouse remains a superb value for gamers.

Powered by a 14th Gen Intel Core i7-14650HX processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 GPU, it offers solid gaming performance. Its 16-inch QHD+ 165Hz IPS display delivers sharp visuals but falls short in color vibrancy compared to competitors like the Asus ROG Strix 17.
Upgrades to storage or RAM are possible post-purchase. Despite its plastic-heavy build, the laptop remains durable. Cooling is effective, avoiding thermal throttling, while the 8-hour battery life outperforms many rivals. However, its lack of Thunderbolt 4 and bulkiness may deter portability-focused buyers.
Asus TUF Gaming A14
The Asus TUF Gaming A14, launched on 27th August 2024, blends solid performance with portability, offering a 14-inch 2.5K 165Hz display that outshines its 2023 predecessor with brighter visuals and G-Sync support. Asus ROG Strix G16 Review: Is it a value for money gaming laptop?
The world of gaming laptops is complicated. It's never easy to find the perfect balance between the price, performance, and portability of a laptop in a single product. But since performance is the ultimate goal of a gaming laptop, price and portability seem to always take a back seat. The Asus ROG Strix G16 is here to disrupt that age-old notion. While it's not a small laptop by any means, it seems to have figured out a formula that works for a rational price range (by gaming laptop standards). Let’s have a detailed look.
Key Specifications of Asus ROG Strix G16
Design
The Asus ROG Strix G16 comes in 12 different configurations out of the box. That is a lot to take in even for hardcore gamers. For the sake of simplicity, this review uses the standard G614JI-N4175X model. This unit has specs that can be considered right in the middle of the lot.
The design of all the units is exactly the same with size and internal configurations differing in each model. By the external looks, the design principle from the G15 of last year has been carried on to the G16. The hinge has been staggered below onto the base in a typical ROG design. The back hinge has been updated with a new grill.

Speaking of grills, there seems to be no end to them. The ROG Strix 16 has an aluminum top, a plastic body, and a hard plastic base. The sides and the base have been crisscrossed with air vents in all types of different designs. This has been done to let the hot air pass from the CPU and keep the laptop cool. The G16 has an intelligent noiseless cooling system but more on that later.
The aluminum top of G16 has some aggressive ROG branding which may not be to everyone’s preference. The Scars model, which is a much higher-tier variant of the G16 has a more toned-down back with the Aura Sync ROG eye logo. The standard model doesn’t have the Aura Sync on the logo.
There is a white bar along the front edge of the laptop. This time Asus has included RGB lighting for the device on the edges which gives it a quite futuristic look.

The choice of ports on the G16 is abundant. All of the ports are placed on the right of the laptop. There is the power port, RJ45 LAN, HDMI 2.1, and two USB 3.2 with one being a Thunderbolt one for PD support and a headphone jack. The HDMI port will be able to project up to 4K at 120 fps max on an external display.
