Worker dies falling off under-construction building in capital
A 20-year-old construction worker died after falling off an under-construction building in Shantibagh area of the capital on Sunday morning.
The deceased was identified as Md Khalid Hasan of Rangpur district.
Khalid accidentally slipped and fell from the rooftop of the 11 storied building around 11am, said his co-worker Zahidul Islam.

Later, he was rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared him dead on arrival, said Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH Police Outpost.
The body has been kept at the hospital morgue, he added.

8 killed in India elevator crash
As many as eight workers died after a platform lift at an under-construction building in the western Indian state of Gujarat plunged seven floors to the ground on Wednesday.
The tragedy occurred on the campus of the prestigious Gujarat University in the city of Ahmedabad this morning, police said.

"Preliminary investigation has revealed the elevator carrying the workers crashed to the ground from the seventh floor, killing the eight," deputy police commissioner Lavina Sinha told the local media.
A probe has been ordered into the accident, the officer said, adding that directors of the private firm contracted by the university for the construction of the building could be booked for negligence.

3 siblings killed in Feni septic tank blast
Three brothers were killed as a septic tank of an under-construction building exploded in Feni municipality Tuesday morning, said police.
The deceased were identified as Md Moniruzzaman, Nurul Islam Munshi and Md Abdur Rahman Munshi, of Bagerhat district. They were workers of the under-construction building.
The explosion occurred around 11 am as toxic gas accumulated inside the tank after its pipe got clogged in ‘Rahul Amin Bhaban’ in Nazir Road area of the town, leaving two brothers dead on spot, said Feni Fire Service Officer Purna Chandra Mutsuddi.

Another brother who sustained injuries was rushed to Feni General Hospital where he died.
The workers used to live in a tin-shed room on the septic tank of the building, he added.
“It is yet to be known whether any other person was injured. Rescue operations are still going on,” said the fire service official.
The bodies were kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy, said Nizam Uddin Ahmed, officer-in-charge (OC) of Feni Model police station.

A construction worker died after falling off the eighth floor of an under-construction building in the city’s Mohammadpur area on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Md Zihad, 25.
Md Abu Shakil, a co-worker of the deceased, said Zihad fell down from the 8th floor of the under-construction building at noon.

A construction worker died after falling off the third floor of an under-construction building at Sheora Lichu Bagan of Bhatara in the capital on Sunday morning.
The deceased was identified as Md Nasir, 22, son of Salimuddin of Char Durgapur village under Alipur police station in Kurigram district.

Md Masud, the contractor of the under-construction building, said Nasir fell from the third floor of the building accidently while opening the shutter of a window in the morning.
Later, he was taken to the emergency unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital at 12 noon where doctors declared him dead.

Md Bachchu Mia, inspector of DMCH police camp, said the body was kept at the hospital morgue for an autopsy.
