Tamim Iqbal and Anamul Haque made a brisk start scoring 71 in 10.6 overs. Tamim perished for 50 off 45 balls. The next three batters – Aamul (20), Najmul Hossain Shanto (38) and Mushfiqur Rahim (25) failed to convert their promising starts into substantial scores.
For Zimbabwe, Sikandar Raza bagged three wickets conceding 56 in his 10 overs while Wesley Madhevere took two conceding 40 in nine overs.
Chasing 290, the hosts lost three wickets for 27 runs. Two of their first three wickets were taken by pacer Hasan Mahmud who played his first match in this series.

Raza and Chakabva hit a 100 each. Raza had hit a ton in the first match of the series as well which helped Zimbabwe to register their maiden win against Bangladesh in nine years.
Today, the hosts chased down the target of 291 with five wickets in hand.
For Bangladesh, Hasan Mahmud and Mehidy Hasan Miraz bagged two wickets each.
"The series win is a massive achievement," Chakabva said after the match. "We have been playing some good cricket. We were itching to play good cricket."
"We've been trying to play positive cricket. The coaches asked me to take it deep and I batted positively. We have to play good cricket again, we'll be looking to win in the last match as well."
"The difference is four centuries for them and zero for us (in the series)," Bangladesh captain Tamim said after the match. "We put up a decent total. But all credit to Zimbabwe, they were the better team this series."
The last and final ODI of this series will take place on August 10 at the same venue. Before the ODI series, the hosts won the T20I series 2-1.

Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe: T20 series begins Saturday
The three-match T20I series between visitors Bangladesh and hosts Zimbabwe is set to begin Saturday.
The first match will take place at 5pm at the Harare Sports Club.
Wicketkeeper-batter Nurul Hasan Sohan will lead Bangladesh in this series. He replaced Mahmudullah Riyad as the T20I captain of the Tigers for this tour. If Sohan does better as a captain, he has all the chances to lead the Tigers in the shorter format of the game for a longer period.
However, Bangladesh will miss the services of Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan and Riyad in this series.
While Shakib is out for personal reasons, Mushfiqur and Riyad were rested by the team management. Shakib will also miss the ODI series, but Mushfiq and Riyad will take part in it.
Bangladesh included uncapped left-handed batter Parvez Hossain Emon in this tour. Parvez did well in the Bangladesh Premier League. Also, he was an important member of Bangladesh during their ICC U-19 World Cup triumph in 2020.

BAN vs ZIM 1st T20I 2022: Match Preview
When the BCB decided to name wicket-keeper batter Nurul Hasan the captain of Bangladesh for the ZIM vs BAN 2022 T20I series, excitement among Bangladesh cricket fans increased. There is no doubt that all eyes will be on Nurul Hasan’s captaincy. On the other hand, Zimbabwe recently ensured their qualification for the T20 World Cup 2022 main event by winning the Global Qualifier B competition. They will be up to putting up a real fight against Bangladesh.
Bangladesh
In the ZIM vs BAN 2022 T20I series, Bangladesh expect Nurul Hasan to demonstrate his potential as captain. His leadership ability will be closely monitored by the BCB in the series as the cricket board is in search of a new leader for the future.
Besides, finding the right opening combination is another key area where they need a solution. There are five top order batters in the squad, and the team management has to come up with a decision on which two they want to back up. Other than that, the remaining spots are more or less confirmed for the opening match.
Read BAN vs ZIM T20I Series 2022: 3 challenges for Nurul Hasan as captain

Lower-Order: Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, Nasum Ahmed.
Zimbabwe
The Zimbabwe Cricket Board is yet to announce their squad for the T20I series against Bangladesh. But the expectation is that the players who have performed well in the recent ICC Global Qualifier B get a chance in the series.
With less than three months left before the T20 World Cup 2022, the selectors may not want to make unnecessary experiments for this bilateral series. Apart from winning the series, finding the right combination for the forthcoming World Cup would be Zimbabwe’s main goal from this bilateral contest.

Middle-Order: Wessley Madhevere, Sikandar Raza, Milton Shumba, Ryan Burl, Tony Munyonga;
Lower-Order: Luke Jongwe, Wellington Masakadza, Richard Ngarava
Aftermath
Will Nurul Hasan-led Bangladesh team be able to meet expectations in the absence of experienced cricketers in the series? The ability is certainly there; they just have to execute the game plan on the field. Oppositely, the confidence level is high at the moment for the Zimbabwean Twenty20 side.
The home side can feel that they have a genuine chance to overcome the visitors in the 3-match T20I series, especially in the absence of some of the key Bangladeshi players. Therefore, the ZIM vs BAN 2022 Twenty20 series promises an interesting contest to watch.

Blessing Muzarabani broke this stand taking Mahmudullah for 26, and right after that, Mehidy Hasan Miraz ws out only at six. He tried to play a big shot off Madhevere and ended up giving a catch to Dion Myers.
Afif Hossain accompanied Shakib in a 28-rum stand but failed to finish the job. Mohammad Saifuddin came to bat at eight and finish the game, adding 69 on the board in the eighth wicket stand with Shakib.
Bangladesh ended up on 242 for seven in 49.1 overs and won the game by three wickets. While Shakib remained unbeaten on 96, Saifuddin also remained unbeaten on 28.

Bangladesh captain Tamim also applauded Shakib and Saifuddin for their batting and finishing the job. He said to the broadcaster: “There were many soft dismissals today, but the way Shakib and Saifuddin played was nice to see. The wicket was playing quite nicely in the first innings compared to the previous match, and I am to chase 241.”

Mahmudullah Riyad, who just retired from Test cricket, delivered a match-winning knock in this match. The main highlight of the match was his 191-run partnership with pacer Taskin Ahmed for the ninth wicket in the first innings. BAN vs. ZIM Test Series 2021: Five Things We Learned From The One-Off Test
Bangladesh won the one-off Test against Zimbabwe by 220 runs on Sunday (11th July) at the Harare Sports Club and also sealed the longer version series 1-0. Bangladesh dominated the match for the majority of the time. Shadman Islam took injured Tamim Iqbal's place in the playing XI and seized the opportunity by scoring a responsible century in the second innings. Mahmudullah Riyad, Taskin Ahmed, Najmul Hossain, Mehidy Hasan, and Shakib Al Hasan all played well for Bangladesh in the match. In this article, we discussed the five things we learned from the lone Test of BAN vs. ZIM Test Series 2021.
Five Things We Learned From the BAN vs. ZIM Test Series 2021
This was Bangladesh's first Test victory in more than one year. Apart from this, Bangladesh's last Test win came in February 2020 against Zimbabwe. All of the senior players took part in this match with the exception of Tamim Iqbal, who was ruled out due to a knee injury.
Bowlers are Key in Winning Test Matches
Cricket experts believe that bowlers must be able to take regular wickets in order to win consistently in Test cricket. In light of this, Bangladesh cruised to win against Zimbabwe despite Harare's batting-friendly pitch.
Bangladesh scored 468 runs in their first innings. Zimbabwe responded well at the start of their innings, but were bowled out for only 276 runs in their first innings. Shakib and Mehdi both bowled well in the first innings for Bangladesh.
Bangladesh batters looked solid in the second innings, setting Zimbabwe a target of 477 runs to win. But in the chase, Zimbabwe were bowled out for 256 runs. The Bangladeshi bowlers made a major contribution to this Test's victory.
Read Mominul “not well-informed” about Mahmudullah’s retirement
Spinners are Bangladesh's Main Strike Bowlers
Shakib Al Hasan and Mehdi Hasan Miraj were the most successful bowlers against Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe were knocked out for a low total in the first innings due to the excellent bowling of these two spinners. Taskin Ahmed bowled well in the second innings and took four wickets, but spinners played the most crucial roles in the contest. So, there is no doubt that spinners are Bangladesh's main strike bowlers.
Mahmudullah Riyad is Still Capable to Play Test Cricket
Veteran batsman Mahmudullah Riyad showed once again that he is still equally good at playing Test cricket with an unbeaten 150*-run knock in the first innings. However, Mahmudullah has already announced his retirement from Test. Experienced players like Mahmudullah Riyad should play more longer-version cricket if Bangladesh want to improve in the Test format.

Alternatives of Senior Cricketers are being developed
The lack of a proper pipeline is one of Bangladesh cricket's most serious problems. However, there is a reason for optimism after Taskin Ahmed, Sadman Islam, Nazmul Hossain, and Mehedi Hasan Miraj's performances in the Test match.
Bangladesh dominated in the match thanks to their outstanding performance. Taskin took 5 wickets in the match and scored 75 runs in the first innings, while Miraz got 9 wickets. Among the batsmen, Shadman and Najmul struck a century each in the second innings. We can expect that veteran cricketers in Bangladesh's squad will have strong options in the near future.

The Quality of Zimbabwe's Cricket has deteriorated
At one point, famous cricketers like Andrew Flower and Grant Flower brought Zimbabwe cricket to the spotlight. However, there is currently no world-class player on the Zimbabwe squad, which is a major area of concern for the country's cricket development. Zimbabwean cricket will go down further if no action is taken soon.
Bottom Line
After analyzing the performances of the Bangladesh players in the only match of the BAN vs. ZIM Test Series 2021, it is evident that they had a productive match. Mahmudullah Riyad once again demonstrated that he is still capable of playing Test cricket with a magnificent performance with the bat while young players had demonstrated their cricketing talents. On the other side, Zimbabwe were unable to capitalize on their home-ground advantage and underperformed throughout the match. Overall, the Bangladeshi players and Captain Mominul Haque, who has yet to lose a Test match against Zimbabwe, have gained a lot of confidence from this match.
