Local football season deferred by six weeks
The local football season 2024-25, which was schedule to start on October 11 through Challenge Cup Football, has been deferred by one and half month due to venue crisis and other prevailing circumstances.
The local football season will now begin in the last week of November this year.
The decision was taken at an online emergency meeting of the BFF Professional League Management Committee held Tuesday afternoon.
The meeting, which was earlier scheduled for last Saturday, was cancelled in the dying moment due to heavy downpour in the capital.
The day’s meeting decided to start the local football season under new standing committee to be formed after the upcoming BFF election on October 26.

League committee chairman and vice president of Bangladesh football federation Imrul Hasan said, “We need at-least five venues for the 10-team premier league, now we have only two available venues –Bashundhara Kings and Rafiquddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh.”
The other proposed venues in Cumilla, Munshiganj, Gazipur and Manikganj are not ready till date.
“So, we decided to defer the league till last week of November, as all the match venues are not ready and as well as for the appeal of the participating teams and reviewing the existing situation”.

Earlier, the local football season due to start with Challenge Cup Football from October 11 at the Bashundhara Kings Arena, Federation Cup Football due to kick-off on October 15 and the Football League scheduled to begin on October 18.

HC orders MP Salam Murshedy to hand over Gulshan house to govt
The High Court on Tuesday (March 19, 2024) ordered Khulna-4 MP and vice president of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Abdus Salam Murshedy to hand over his residence in Gulshan to the Housing and Public Works Ministry.
The HC bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Kazi Ebadoth Hossain passed the order and asked Murshedy to complete the process within three months after receiving the copy of the verdict.
The court also said that the residence in Gulshan where Salam Murshedy is living is an abandoned property of the government.

Senior Advocate Mohammad Syed Ahmed stood for Murshedy, Senior Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan for Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) while deputy attorney general Saifuddin Khaled represented the state and Advocate Anik R Haque stood for the petitioner.
Advocate Syed said they will file an appeal petition challenging the verdict.
On October 30, 2022, Barrister Sayedul Haque Sumon filed a writ petition with the High Court seeking an inquiry into the allegations of corruption against the BFF official.
According to the writ petition, the house located in Gulshan-2 was listed as the abandoned house under the gazette in 1986. But Murshedy is living there after occupying it.
Three letters of the Housing and Public Works Ministry to the chairman of Rajuk issued on April 13, 2015, January 20, 2016 and July 4, 2022 were attached to the writ petition.
The Housing and Public Works Ministry sought explanation from Rajuk Chairman over the occupation of the house by Murshedy .
On November 1, 2022, the HC issued a rule asking the government to explain as to why the inaction of the authorities concerned in taking legal steps against the AL lawmaker for occupying the house illegally, should not be declared beyond legal authority.

It also asked the authorities concerned to submit all documents regarding the house to the court.
On February 8 this year, the ACC in its investigation found the allegations of forgery and fraud over the house true and on the basis of information of witnesses and documents, the ACC filed a case against five people including Murshedy.

BFF President Kazi Salahuddin undergoes bypass surgery
President of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) and former footballer Kazi Mohamnad Salahuddin successfully underwent coronary artery bypass surgery at the Evercare Hospital in the capital on Thursday.
After a long seven-hour surgery, a 70-year-old Kazi Salahuddin has been moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for postoperative monitoring as a routine case.

BFF Academy Championships begins on December 19 across country
The first-ever Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Academy Championship' 2023-24 under the talent development scheme of the World football body FIFA will begin simultaneously at 24 zonal venues across the country on December 19

Tri-Nation Cup: BFF picks 27 players for national training camp
The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Thursday picked 27 players for the national training camp for the Tri-Nation Cup Football Tournament 2023, to be held during March 20-28 in Sylhet.
Brunei Darussalam, Seychelles and the hosts will compete in the nine-day tournament during the FIFA window.
Bangladesh national team head coach Javier Fernández Cabrera of Spain announced the national team at a press conference at the BFF House in Motijheel in the afternoon.
Twelve players from Bashundhara Kings, six from former champions Dhaka Abahani, three from Sheikh Russel, two each from Fortis and Muktijoddha Sangsad, and one each from Dhaka Mohammedan and Bangladesh Police earned a call-up to the camp.

BFF sign MOU with Saudi Arabian FF for development of country's football
The Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) continues its support for global exchanges and increased collaboration by teaming up with the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) through signing a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Sunday.
SAFF President Yasser Al Misehal and BFF President Kazi Md Salahuddin signed a MOU at "Saudi House" in Doha, Qatar Sunday (December 18) afternoon ahead of the FIFA World Cup final, said a BFF media release Sunday evening,
Apart from two presidents, BFF Vice President Ataur Rahman Bhuyan Manik, FIFA council member and chairman of the BFF women's football commitee Mahfuza Akhter Kiron. BFF general secretray Abu Nayeem Shohag and SAFF general secretary Ibrahim S Alkassim were also present on the occasion.
The MoU will see the two Asian federations collaborate on areas such as women’s football, technical development, football management, talent identification and refereeing as well as to arrange Bangladesh team's football training camps in Saudi Arabia and to open the oppourtinty to play friendly matches.
The partnership with the BFF is part of Saudi Arabia’s strong football drive commitment to
strengthen its existing ties with its Asian football family and support the development of the
game. Key areas of the partnership will be centred around both Youth and Women football.
Women’s football in Bangladesh is undergoing a transformation across all levels of the game,
from grass roots development to refereeing and coaching.
The Bangladesh women’s team recently made history by clinching the first-ever South Asian Football Federation Women’s title denying the long domination of India.
“Bangladesh is an important partner to Saudi Arabia, and all of us could see during this FIFA
World Cup the unbelievable passion they share for football. We hope to help transform that
passion into further development opportunities to make football across our nations more
competitive and played by more and more youth” said SAFF president Yasser Al Misehal.

BFF U-18 Football: Bashundhara Kings earn 4-2 victory over Police FC
Coming from behind, Bashundhara Kings earned a 4-2 goals victory over Bangladesh Police FC in the BFF U-18 Football League at the Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club ground Monday afternoon.
The match was locked in 1-1 goals in the first half.
Akbar put Police team ahead in the 11th minute (1-0) while Sabbir levelled the margin for the Kings in the 36th minute from a penalty (1-1).
Ramzan and Rafiqul scored two more goals for the Kings in span of just minute in the 52nd and 57th minutes (3-1).
Tasnim pulled the Police margin one back in the 90th minute (3-2) while Raju sealed the fate of the match scoring one more goal for the Kings (4-2) in the stoppage time of the match (90+1 minute)
In the BFF U-16 Football League, Agrani Bank SC played 1-1 draw with Uttara Football Club here on Monday.
