Special Chapainawabganj-Dhaka cattle train service stops day after launch
The special cattle train service on the Chapainawabganj-Dhaka route was cancelled on Thursday, a day after its launch for lack of cargo.
The Bangladesh Railway took the decision as no cattle trader showed their interest to transport sacrificial animals by the special train until 4.30 pm on Thursday, Chapainawabganj Railway Station Master Shahidul Alam told UNB.
On Wednesday, a special cattle train from Chapainawabganj left for Dhaka with 22 sacrificial animals for Eid markets.

"The train left for the capital with 18 cows and four goats. The transportation cost for each cow was fixed at Tk591.50 and each goat at Tk296," Shahidul said.
The special service was launched on the Chapainawabganj-Rajshahi-Dhaka (Tejgaon) route on July 17 last year to transport sacrificial animals at a low cost considering the Covid-19 situation.

Special cattle train on C'ganj-Dhaka route ahead of Eid
The Ministry of Railways has decided to run a special cattle train for ferrying sacrificial animals ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
Asim Kumar Talukder, general manager of Western Railway (Rajshahi), told UNB that Bangladesh Railways will operate the train from July 6-8.
The transportation cost of each cow has been fixed at Tk 591.50, he added.

This is the second consecutive time that the west zone of Bangladesh Railways will run a special cattle train on the Chapainawabganj-Dhaka route via Rajshahi.
Obaidullah, assistant station master of Chapainawabganj Railway Station, said the cattle wagons -- each with a carrying capacity of 20 animals -- will depart from Chapainawabganj station at 4.30pm and reach Tejgaon around 3am.
Eid-ul-Azha is expected to be celebrated in around a fortnight's time in Bangladesh, depending on the sighting of the moon.

Special cattle train starts on Chapainawabganj-Dhaka route
A special “cattle train” left here on Saturday carrying 77 cows and six goats in its inaugural service for markets in the capital city ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, officials said.
The special service will run on Chapainawabganj-Rajshahi-Tejgaon (Dhaka) route.

Lawmaker from Chapainawabganj-1 Dr Shamil Uddin Ahmed Shamil inaugurated the train service at Chapainawabganj railway station this afternoon.
The cattle wagons – each with 20 cows - will be added to the Mango special train, already operating on the route.
Assistant station Master Obaidullah at Chapainawabganj said the Railways ministry has decided to run the special cattle service considering the health hazards of ongoing Covid-19.

Transportation cost for each cow has been fixed at Tk 592 and for goat at Tk 292.
The train service will continue until July 19, he added.
