Oppo Reno 6 Pro 5G Review: Is it worth it?
The Oppo Reno smartphones have always been aimed at users seeking value for their money. They haven't only offered cutting-edge technology but also top-notch design and quality. Oppo has offered the same value with the newest release Reno 6 Pro. It has excellent hardware coupled with a lightweight body and quality materials. The phone got released on 27th May 2021 in India. Since then, the phone has been attracting more and more people. This OPPO Reno 6 Pro review presents crucial details about the phones.
Key Features of Oppo Reno 6 Pro 5G
Design
The Reno 6 Pro is almost identical to its predecessor phones, especially in terms of design. It features the same chamfered edges, a slim 7.6mm frame, and an almost similar camera panel. However, in the latest 6 Pro model, the flash part is a bit closer to the fourth camera module.
Despite the fact that the design hasn't altered much, the Reno 6 Pro is still one of the best-looking mid-range phones. It has a Reno Glow gradient with which the phone changes between different blue and gold colors depending on how much light hits its surface. The matte surface makes the phone simpler to grip and operate.

Because of the bigger battery, the weight of the Reno 6 Pro has risen to 177g. The power button appears on the right; the volume rocker is on the left. And the main speaker is placed next to a USB-C port. You won't find a 3.5mm jack here. Nevertheless, it is now a common case in most mid-range phones.
Display
The display of Reno 6 Pro is very well-specified. It has a 6.5-inch AMOLED full-HD+ screen with a higher refresh rate of 90Hz, HDR10+ playback attestation, and touch responsiveness of 180Hz. This is quite identical to the Reno 5 Pro. The bezels are uniformly thin all around, and the selfie camera cut-out is discreet.
The brightness levels are excellent, and users will have no difficulty seeing the phone in direct sun rays. The standard color calibration is also excellent. What isn't there is the absence of support for 120Hz. As more premium phones arrive with 120Hz screens nowadays, it's a bit of a letdown for Reno 6 Pro; otherwise, it is a fantastic screen.

Rear Camera Setup
The Reno 6 Pro doesn't stand out from its ancestor version, even when it comes to the camera side. 6 Pro has a 64MP primary sensor, an 8MP wide-angle sensor, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP portrait lense.
In the camera interface, the shooting modes are organized in a ribbon at the bottom, along with toggles for flash, AI, HDR, timer. Here you will also find options for Google Lens, toggling between lenses and the zoom levels.
The 64MP camera performs just like the one in Reno 5 Pro. It produces excellent pictures in almost every lighting situation. The resulting pictures have a lot of clarity, little or no noise, and an oversaturated appearance, which makes them look vivid when shared on different social networking sites.

In the daytime, the 8MP wide-angle sensor performs well in producing pictures with a color profile comparable to that of the primary lens. But it struggles to capture good pictures in low-light situations.
Now, let's turn to the 2MP macro shooter. It might create a little hassle while using it; the fixed-focus section takes much effort and the resulting pictures aren't up to par.
Video recording is certainly adequate, although there is obvious jitter in low-light situations, especially in 4K.

Front Camera
OPPO Reno 6 Pro 5G sports a 32MP camera on the front, just like its ancestor version. The good news is, in the latest model, Oppo has resolved the problems of the Reno 5 Pro's front-facing camera.
This time, the Reno 6 Pro takes pictures that are well-detailed and evenly illuminated. There is plenty of dynamic range, and the portrait mode does an excellent job at edge detection.
Performance, Hardware, and UI
The Oppo Reno 6 Pro is equipped with a Mediatek Dimensity 1200 CPU and 12GB RAM. Oppo boasts of a memory boost technology. The company claims that the ‘memory boost’ mechanism can add additional ram by consuming some storage space and acting as RAM. Though the idea is not new, this may be the first time it has been applied on a phone.

In addition to these, OPPO Reno 6 Pro is blessed with 5G technology. Not to mention, the 5G mechanism is a bonus that will be useful once 5G is fully implemented.
The Reno 6 Pro comes with ColorOS 11.3 based on Android 11. The UI is very smooth, and it has a bunch of new features, including a dark mode (system-wide), accent color personalization, an always-on-display mode, and more.
The company has put effort into making more subtle software and providing more customization options. Bloatware and excessive notifications can spoil some of the fun, but most of them are manageable.

Battery and Charging
The Reno 6 Pro 5G can easily survive a full day on a mix of 4G and Wi-Fi networks. Thanks to its 4500mAh battery and smart optimization. Charging the Reno 6 Pro is also simple.
The 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 charging takes around 30 minutes to the full up from a 5% charge. This is very useful when you need to go fast and don't have time to stop for a quick refill.

Final Verdict
The Oppo Reno 6 Pro Smartphone is advanced in certain areas while lacks some features that are equally essential. Its price ranges seem a bit higher.
The performance of its camera series is satisfactory. Certainly, Reno 6 Pro 5G is a nice-looking phone; but looks are not everything. The MediaTek Dimensity 1200 isn't a terrible chipset, but some competitors deliver a lot more value for the money hardware. Provision of dual speakers, IP rating, and wireless charging, could make the Oppo Reno 6 Pro a better deal.
Overall, the entire package looks standard. However, if performance is more important to you than design and camera, look at the alternatives at the same price range.
