Army Chief inaugurates IPAMS website, logo
Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed unveiled and inaugurated the logo and the website of the 46th INDO-PACIFIC ARMIES MANAGEMENT SEMINAR (IPAMS) at the Army Multipurpose Complex in Dhaka Cantonment on Tuesday.
Senior Army officers and members of USARPAC were present in the programme.
The 46th IPAMS will be held in Dhaka and Cox's Bazar on 12-15 September next under the joint management of Bangladesh Army and US Army Pacific (USARPAC), says an Inter Service Public Relation (ISPR) Directorate media release on Tuesday.
A three-day medium level coordination meeting was held between the members of US Army Pacific (USARPAC) and the members of Bangladesh Army from 12 June on the occasion of the seminar.
The medium level coordination meeting has been discussed various issues for cooperation, sympathy, and joint efforts together among the United States Army and the Indo-Pacific Army and also for greater interest to the region and the conference is held annually every year to determine the appropriate course of action.
This year, the Bangladesh Army will host this global conference for the third time.

This time the theme of the conference is fixed considering the recent important security issues of the army of Allied countries. The theme is "Possibilities and Adversities for Maintaining Peace and Stability in the Indo-Pacific Region"
In the current Corona situation, the international conference on such a big issue in the international arena is undoubtedly a bold initiative for the Bangladesh Army.
Bilateral relations between the two countries will be strengthened through the professional communication between the armies of Bangladesh and the United States Army alongside the development of the overall relationship.
The conference will be attended by senior military officials, including the army chiefs of more than 30 countries in the Indo-Pacific region. This will brighten the image of the country and the quality of professionalism of the army will be revealed in the international arena.

BGMEA delegation meets army chief
A delegation of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) led by its President Faruque Hassan met Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed in the capital Monday.
They talked about how Bangladesh's demographic dividend can be used properly through skill upgradation and discussed possible areas where Bangladesh Army could provide support in training young people to develop their skills.
Faruque informed the army chief about the present situation of the apparel industry and how the industry turned around, tackling the unprecedented disruption in economic progress caused by Covid-19.

Also, the BGMEA leaders praised the role of Bangladesh Army in the socio-economic development of Bangladesh, especially in the implementation of infrastructural development projects.
Once completed, the megaprojects will play a significant role in fostering economic development and drawing investment in the country, they added.
The chief of army staff praised the way the apparel sector addressed the unprecedented impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic and rebounded. Namely, he talked mentioned the resilience and indomitable spirit of both workers and entrepreneurs in navigating the industry through the pandemic.
BGMEA vice-presidents Shahidullah Azim, Khandoker Rafiqul Islam, Md Nasir Uddin and Director Abdullah Hil Rakib were also present.

Army chief Gen Shafiuddin leaves for 2-day UAE visit
Bangladesh Army chief General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed on Monday morning left for the UAE on a two-day official visit.
General Shafiuddin will hold bilateral meetings with the UAE Chief of Army Staff and discuss bilateral relations and mutual cooperation between the armies of the two countries during the visit, the Inter-Service Public Relations Directorate said in a statement.

General Shafiuddin will also attend the coveted International Dubai Air Show-2021 in the UAE capital.
The Army Chief is scheduled to return home November 18, the directorate said.

Army Chief General Shafiuddin off to S Korea
Chief of Bangladesh Army General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed left Dhaka on Sunday night for South Korea on a five-day official visit.
He is leading a five-member team of Bangladesh Armed Forces, according to an ISPR press release.
During the visit, the Bangladesh Army Chief will meet the South Korean Minister of National Defence, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Chief of Army Staff and the Air Force, and other senior military officials.

General Shafiuddin will also discuss bilateral military relations between the two countries.
The Army Chief is scheduled to return home on October 23.

Chiefs of three services exchange Eid greetings with the President
Chiefs of the three services called on President Abdul Hamid separately at Bangabhaban on Sunday evening and exchanged Eid greetings with him.
Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed, Acting Chief of Naval Staff Rear Admiral M Abu Ashraf and Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Sheikh Abdul Hannan also briefed the President about the steps the forces have taken to tackle coronavirus pandemic.
