OnePlus Nord 2 5G Review: Is it worth buying?
The OnePlus Nord had been the company's first attempt to enter the mid-range smartphone market. After a number of disappointing follow-ups at the low-budget market, OnePlus is trying to come back with another mid-range handset OnePlus Nord 2 5G. At present, the market of budget-friendly smartphones has become an arena where every manufacture wants to win. To stand out as a powerful device. Can Nord 2 fulfill the users’ expectations? Stay with us, to know the various features of this phone.
Key Features of OnePlus Nord 2 5G
Design
In terms of in-hand feel and build-up, the Nord 2 is a piece of art. With a dimension of 158.9 x 73.2 x 8.3 mm and a weight of 189g, the phone ensures an average size. OnePlus has attributed the same look of the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro to the new Nord 2. Even it has a glass sandwich structure placing Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on both sides just like those previous models. It's definitely a plus for the users as they will get a premium look and feel in this mid-range smartphone.
The phone offers scratch resistance, though it does not prevent fingerprints. Unlike the Nord CE's design, Nord 2 has an alert slider, which is a relief. The triple-camera panel has large circular rings, which look quite elegant. Nord 2 comes in three distinct colors- Blue Haze, Grey Sierra, and Green-Wood.

Display
OnePlus has used the usual 90Hz Super AMOLED display that it has used in other Nord phones. It features 1,080 x 2,400 resolution, an aspect ratio of 20:9, and a single punch-hole screen. When it comes to the viewing experience, the Nord 2 adds a few special spices to its reputed video showing quality. The AI-based resolution boost will improve the resolution of low-quality movies, while the AI color booster polishes the colors.
Nord 2 has 6.43-inch The display falls short in brightness level. That is why in broad daylight, users will have to use the phone with a full brightness level. Apart from it, the AMOLED display is up to the mark and provides standard viewing angles.

Primary Camera
The coolest feature of the Nord 2 is its camera. The two giant rear cameras will catch anyone's attention at first glance. The primary camera is a 50MP (f/1.9) sensor with comparatively larger pixels, and the optical picture stabilization system improves pictures' quality when taken in low light and with shaky hands. The colors projected by the camera are bright yet realistic.
After taking pictures in daylight, users can feel the elegance and preciseness OnePlus has attributed to the cameras. Unlike many other hyped lenses, cameras of the Nord 2 keep saturation level at the minimum level and maintains a balanced and pronounced picture quality.

The Nord 2 features an 8MP (f/2.3) ultra-wide camera, which is adequate but not the finest on the market. However, the lens does not create much noise or distortion, which is quite different from lenses in many mid-range phones.
A 2MP (f/2.4) monochrome camera is also there, which is more efficient in supporting the other two lenses than doing something on its own. However, it works well as a stand-alone.
Using the rear camera you can shoot maximum 4k videos at 30fps. It can also capture 1080p footage at 30fps, 60pfs and 240fps. Gyro-EIS facility has been provided.
Front Camera
The front-facing selfie camera features a 32MP (f/2.5) lens and uses far more sophisticated facial recognition and details than prior OnePlus smartphones. Facial features are considerably more defined, and skin tones are properly matched.

There is a new Dual View Video feature that is useful for vloggers since it allows them to take videos from both the front and rear cameras at the same time. Night-time selfies give good quality while an AI enhancement smoothens out a large portion of the face. Portrait mode performs nicely, but only in enough light.
With the front camera, you can shoot 1080 pixel footahe at 30 fps. Gyro-EIS facility is available.
Performance, Software, and UI
The Density 1200 octa-core AI processor of Nord 2 represents OnePlus' departure from Qualcomm in favor of MediaTek chipsets. The Density 1200 chipset has already been used in the Realme X7 Max, but the one used in the Nord 2 is an updated version with an AI enhancement.

Powered by this robust processor, the Mali-G77 gives an excellent graphical performance. OnePlus has used its OxygenOS 11.3 operating system, which is Android 11 based. Nord 2 has several variants including 6/128GB, 12/128GB, and 12/256GB. Here OnePlus has applied 3.1 data transfer technology.
The performance of the phone is robust enough to satisfy users' expectations. From internet surfing to long hours of video conversation on Slack or WhatsApp to multitasking on several apps, users will find the Nord 2 smooth and hassle less. Mobile gamers will also find the handset pretty good for playing high-resolution games.

Battery and Charging
It might hurt OnePlus lovers to watch their favorite brand bringing a mid-budget phone with a 4500 mAh battery. But do not worry! The company is offering a 65W fast charger. It takes less than an hour to fill up the battery.
The battery will give one-day support to regular users. However, heavy users, who are to play games for several hours at a stretch or watch videos for long hours, cannot use the phone for more than 6 or 7 hours. But it is not a big issue as the charger can charge up the phone pretty fast.
