Anti-dengue drive to continue throughout the year: LGRD Minister
Anti-dengue drive will be conducted round the year, said Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) Minister Md Tajul Islam.“We have decided to conduct drive to control dengue till December. The authorities have divided the seasons in two segments—peak season and lean season,” he said while talking to reporters after the first inter-ministerial meeting over dengue menace at the Secretariat.DGHS has recorded 875 dengue cases in Bangladesh from January till April 8 while the number of dengue cases in Philippines is 19,404, in Vietnam 15, 129, in Sri Lanka 14,989 , in Malaysia 17,388 and in Singapore 11,962 from January to March this year, he said.Compared to the six other countries, Bangladesh is in a better position and it has been possible only for regular monitoring, he added.

Day 1 of Anti-dengue drive: DNCC realises over Tk 4 lakh in fines
The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on Sunday found Aedes mosquito larvae and fined different establishments Tk 4.37 lakh on the first day of its seven-day special drive aimed at protecting the city dwellers from dengue.
The mobile courts led by DNCC filed 14 cases. The drive was operated in Gulshan, Uttara, and Khilbaritek in the capital.
During the drive, the DNCC found Aedes larvae from different houses, establishments, empty plots and drains.
DNCC Chief Health Officer Brig: General Zobaidur Rahman and Deputy chief Health officer Golam Mostafa Sarwar visited some areas during the drive.
Earlier on Saturday, Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Atiqul Islam announced a weeklong special drive to control Aedes mosquitoes that spread Dengue.

The mayor made the announcement on Saturday at an awareness campaign against the Aedes mosquito at Uttara in the capital.
The drive will be conducted by separate teams in each of the 10 zones under DNCC, he said.
A total of 1,128 dengue patients, including 893 in the capital, are now receiving treatment at hospitals across the country.
On June 21, the DGHS reported the first death of the season from the viral disease.

Civic body launches anti-dengue drive in north Dhaka
The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on Thursday kick-started a six-day special drive against dengue and other vector-borne diseases.
The drive will be carried out twice a day till March 16, officials said.

Since morning, nearly 900 workers have been carrying out fogging drives across DNCC wards and checking for any possible sources of stagnant water that can lead to the breeding of Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes, officials said.
DNCC chief health officer Brigadier General Jobaidur Rahman personally inspected the drive in the Ibrahimpur canal area under Mirpur-4 region in the morning.
The DNCC took the initiative as per the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, officials said.
Every year, residents of Dhaka complain of mosquito bites and cases of dengue and malaria.
According to a report of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), so far this year, some 151 people have been admitted to different hospitals in Dhaka and 148 were discharged post-recovery.

Fortunately, no dengue deaths have been reported this year.
A total of 105 dengue patients -- 95 in Dhaka division alone, four in Mymensingh, two each in Chattogram and Khulna, and one each in Rajshahi and Barishal divisions -- died in 2021.

Anti-dengue drive: City corporations raise Tk 8.6 lakh in fines
Dhaka South City Corporation and Dhaka North City Corporation in separate drives filed 27 cases and fined different houses and establishments Tk 8.57 lakh for breeding Aedes larvae in the city.
The mobile courts led by Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) fined 29 buildings Tk 3.84 lakh.
Some 11 mobile courts conducted the drive in Green Road, New Eskaton, Malibagh Bazar, Phool Bagh, West Islambagh, Chawkbazar, Dhalpur, Golapbag, Amulia, Dogar, Kadamtali, South Banasree areas of the city.
During the drive the mobile courts conducted drives at 414 buildings and found Aedes larvae in 29 buildings.

Besides, it also warned the owners of 35 houses and under-construction buildings for finding breeding ground of Aedes larvae.
The mobile courts under the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on Monday conducted drives in different parts of the city and fined Tk 4.73 lakh after finding Aedes mosquito larvae from the houses and establishments.
The mobile courts also filed 27 cases during the drive.

The mobile court also asked people to follow the health guidelines to combat Covid-19 and follow the DCC mayor's request to “"Every three days, throw away the accumulated water".
