Bangladesh has planned to go all out with a big carnival with heads of state and government from March 17-26 marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and 50 years of Bangladesh’s Independence next year.

A general diary (GD) was filed on Monday against Md Fauzal Azim, a Bangladeshi migrant living in London, by a Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader for making ‘derogatory comments’ on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on social media.

The countdown to the birth centenary celebration of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman began on Friday through a gala opening ceremony.

President Abdul Hamid on Wednesday called upon the people irrespective of religion, caste and creed to remain alert so that no-one can create anarchy using religion or through misinterpretation.
