Covid-19 in Bangladesh: Daily positivity rates slightly declines
Bangladesh logged 33 more Covid-linked deaths with 8,016 fresh cases in 24 hours till Wednesday morning.
The daily positivity rate slightly declined to 18.83 from Tuesday’s 20.03 per cent after testing 42,564 samples during the period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The number of deaths is highest in nearly six months as the country last recorded 43 deaths on September 19 last year with 1,383 cases and the daily positivity rate 5.62 per cent.
On Tuesday, Bangladesh reported 43 more Covid-linked deaths with 8,354 fresh cases.
The fresh numbers took the country’s total fatalities to 28,703 while the caseload mounted to 1,887,271.

Among the new deceased, 24 were men and nine women.
Fifteen of the deaths were reported in Dhaka division while six in Chattogram, four in Rajshahi, and two each in Khulna, Sylhet and Mymensingh divisions and one each in Barishal and Rangpur divisions.
Meanwhile, the mortality rate recorded at 1.52 per cent.
However, the recovery rate slightly increased to 86.56 per cent with the recovery of 10,725 more patients during the 24-hour period.
On January 28, Bangladesh logged its earlier highest daily positivity rate at 33.37 per cent reporting 15,440 cases and 20 deaths.
On December 9 last year, Bangladesh again logged zero Covid-related death after nearly three weeks as the pandemic was apparently showing signs of easing.
The country reported this year’s first zero Covid-related death in a single day on November 20 last year along with 178 infections since the pandemic broke out in Bangladesh in March 2020.

Besides, the country registered the highest daily caseload of 16,230 on July 28 last year, while the highest number of daily fatalities was 264 on August 10 last year.

Covid-19 : Positivity rate reduces further to 14.76 %, 114 more die
Bangladesh logged 114 Covid-19 deaths in 24 hours until Wednesday morning amid a steady decline in both cases and positivity rate raising hope for further improvement.
This was for the second consecutive day the number of fatalities stood at 114, the lowest in last two months.The number of fresh Covid cases is also seeing a downtrend as 4,966 people were tested positive during this time compared to 5,249 in the previous day.

The fresh number pushed the country’s total fatalities to 25,627 while the cases reached 1,477,930, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).The country last saw 112 Coronavirus- related deaths on June 29 and the fatalities jumped to 264 on August 5 and 10 when the country was under a strict lockdown.
The latest cases were detected after testing 33,640 samples during the last 24 hours, which reduced the daily case positivity rate to 14.76 % from Tuesday’s 15.12% and Monday’s 15.54 %, said the DGHS.

The recovery rate rose to 94.02%, but the case fatality remained unchanged at 1.73 % compared to the same period.
