4 of a family suffer burn injuries in Munshiganj explosion
Four of a family sustained burn injuries in a mysterious explosion at a five-storey building at Idrakpur in Munshiganj district town on Saturday.
The injured were identified as Rizvi Ahmed Russel, 42,his wife Rozina Begum,35, their son Raian Ahmed, 3 and Russel’s mother Shahida Khatun, 65, of the area.
Two killed as bus hits road divider in Munshiganj
Of them, Shahida received 90 percent burn injuries.
Quoting local people, additional superintendent of Munshiganj police Khairul Islam, said Russel was a programme officer of One Stop Service at Munshiganj General Hospital and he used to live on the 4th floor of the building with his family as a tenant.

The explosion occurred around 6:15 am that triggered fire, leaving four of the family injured.
Later, they were taken to a local hospital where doctors referred three of them to the Sheikh Hasina Burn Institute.

However, it is still not clear what caused the explosion but police suspected that blast occurred from electric device laptop or mobile phone.

JnU student injured in gas line explosion dies at DMCH
A student of Jagannath University, who sustained burn injuries in a gas pipeline explosion at Dhupkhola Bazar in Gandaria area of Dhaka city on Monday, died at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery early Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Mehedi Hasan Shaon, 22, son of Abdul Latif from Sadar upazila in Natore district.
With 30% burn injuries, Shaon was undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, where he succumbed to his injuries around 6:15 am today, said Inspector Bachhu Mia, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital police camp.
Earlier, on Monday, at least nine people sustained burn injuries in a gas pipeline explosion in Dhupkhola Bazar area.

The injured were Md Sohel, 42, Mehedi Hasan Shaon, 22, Ali Hossain, 52, Rashed Miah, 32, Sahara Begum, 65, Abdur Rahim, 50, Mim Akter, 22, Alif, 22, Mizanur Rahman, 32.
Of them, Abdur Rahim and Shaon received around 40 and 30 percent burns, respectively.
All the injured were admitted to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery and Burn Unit.
According to a statement of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited, a contractor of WASA was setting up pipes for water supply in the area on Monday morning.
The explosion occurred in the morning when the gas pipelines were damaged during digging by the WASA contractor, it said.
Responding to the call, an emergency team from Titas Gas rushed to the spot and fixed the issue, it read.

2 injured as gas cylinder fitted in car catches fire in Dhaka's Asad Gate
Two people suffered serious burn injuries after a gas cylinder fitted in a car caught fire in the capital's Asad Gate area on Thursday night, police said.
The injured are Rubel Dutta, 45, a merchandiser and owner of the car, and Uzzal Kumar,35, driver of the vehicle, Nayan Biswash, brother-in-law of Rubel, said.

The incident occurred around 10:30pm as Rubel, a resident of the Green Road area, was returning home from his office in Uttara, Bacchu Mia, in-charge of the DMCH Police Outpost, said.
Rubel and Uzzal are now undergoing treatment at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, Nayan said.

The doctors said Rubel suffered 60 percent burns and Uzzal 40 percent and that they are still not out of the woods, he added.

Gazipur filling station fire: One succumbs to burn injuries at DMCH
One of the seven victims of the Gazipur filling station fire died at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) early Friday.
The deceased was identified as Mithu, 26, a resident of Moulvibazar district.
Mithu, who sustained 100% burns, breathed his last at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery of DMCH at 8am, said the hospital’s police outpost in-charge Md Bacchu Mia.
On Thursday evening, the fire was triggered by an explosion that occurred in a cylinder-laden van while refuelling gas at Wahed Ali Filling Station in Gazipur’s Borobari area.
Three firefighting units brought the blaze under control around 8pm, said Iqbal Hossain, senior station officer of Tongi Fire Service and Civil Defense.
The seven people who sustained burn injuries in the fire were all standing nearby. They were rushed to Tahirunnesa Memorial Medical College Hospital (TMMCH).
Mainul Islam, a resident doctor at TMMCH, said that five of the injured were shifted to DMCH in a critical condition.
The other injured undergoing treatment at DMCH are Al Amin, 25, Anwar, 30, Sirajul Islam, 28, and Parvez, 33.

Mother, son suffer burn injuries in city fire
A 46-year-old woman and her 25-year-old son suffered burn injuries in a fire that originated apparently from a gas leak in a house at Mohammadpur in the city on Tuesday.
The victims were identified as Ambia Khatun and Md Kajol.

Of them, Ambia is now undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Uniit (ICU) of Sheikh Hasina Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute with 50 per cent burn injuries while Kajal was given first aid, said Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital police outpost.
Police said the fire broke out in their tin-shed house at Nabinagar Housing Society around 6 am when Ambia tried to light up the oven, leaving her injured.
Kajal sustained burn wounds when he tried to save his mother.

Physician who set herself on fire dies at DMCH
A physician who set herself on fire died at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Aditi Sarkar, 38, a registrar of Pediatrics Department of Mitford Hospital.

She breathed her last around 10 am after suffering with 50 per cent burn injuries for five days , said Coordinator of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (SHNIBPS) Dr Samanta Lal Sen.
Aditi set herself on fire at her home at Hare Street in the city Friday afternoon, said Kabir Hossain Hawladar, officer-in-charge (OC) of Wari police station.
She told the physicians of the Burn Institute that she had set herself on fire out of anger following an altercation with her husband, said the OC.
Aditi's husband engineer Manas Mandal claimed that his wife had been sick and upset for the several days.

As he returned home on Friday afternoon, he heard his wife screaming in the next room and found Aditi on fire. He poured water on her immediately, he claimed.
He managed an ambulance calling the national emergency service number 999 and took her to the burn institute, he added.

Munshiganj fire: 28-yr-old woman dies of burn injuries
Another Munshiganj cylinder explosion victim has succumbed to her injuries at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), officials said on Thursday.
Shanta Begum, 28, wife of Kawsar Khan of Char Muktarpur in Sadar upazila, passed away at the hospital's Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery around 2 30 am, after battling for her life for a week, Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost, said.

Shanta’s husband Kawsar died on December 4 while their two children -- Yeasmin, 6, and Fatema, 3 -- passed away on December 2 at a local hospital.
All the four family members and another person -- a neighbour -- sustained burn injuries in a fire triggered by the cooking gas cylinder blast in their house in the Char Muktarpur area of Munshiganj's Sadar upazila in the early hours of December 2.
The neighbour, Hritika Pal, is currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital.

For over eight years, Kawsar, a welder by profession, had been staying in Munshiganj with his family.
Sadar Police Station OC Rajib Khan had said, "Prima facie, it seemed to be a cooking gas cylinder explosion. But a CID team is investigating the case."

Four members of a family, including two children, suffered burn injuries as a fire broke out in a house at Kumar Para village in Araihazar upazila of Narayanganj early Monday.
The injured are businessman Solaiman, 42, his wife Rima Akhter, 31, their son Mahid, 13, and Arash, 3.

4 of a family burnt in Mugda fire
Four members of a family, including a child, suffered burn injuries as a fire broke out in a flat at Mugda in Dhaka on Monday morning.
The injured are- Sudhangsu, 35, his wife Priyanka, 32, their son Arup, 5 and Priyanka’s mother Shefali, 55, residents of the area.

Priyanka's brother Palash said the fire broke out when Priyanka attempted to light the gas stove with a matchstick in the morning, leaving the four members of the family seriously injured.

Child burnt to death, 5 hurt in Chattogram fire
A five-month-old baby was burnt to death and five people suffered burn injuries as a fire broke out in Hathazari upazila of Chattogram on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Rakib.

The injured, who were from the same family, were admitted to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
Hathazari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Rafiqul Islam said the fire broke out in a house in Rangipara Ward-1 in the early morning and gutted 20 houses.

The burnt child was rushed to CMCH where doctors declared him dead at noon.
According to fire services sources, the fire originated from a short circuit and two units of fire fighters brought the blaze under control after an hour of effort.
